Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
So...it was a divine weapon bestowed by Agni, a Hindu god of fire. That explained a lot. Like why a blunt force attack materialized as a rain of fiery rocks. And no, Pyxis hadn't found that in a book. She had looked through a couple books, but they were mostly either unremarkable or written in languages she didn't have many resources on. No, the definition came right from her own memory banks, although Pyxis didn't actually remember how it got there. Maybe it appeared in a video game at some point and she looked it up afterward. That had happened before.
At any rate, she had found one answer. But the library itself was still one big, expansive mystery. And there wasn't much Pyxis could do about that except to keep going deeper in.
After a few more minutes of exploring and occasionally stopping to investigate a book or two, another shadow showed up to try and chase Pyxis off. A Snake type this time. Elpis was already at the forefront of Pyxis's mind the moment she detected its approach, so the moment it was in attacking range, Pyxis summoned the spirit of hope, already primed to attack, and rained a supercharged storm of meteors on it. The force of a divine weapon pummeled the snake, but it managed to hang on, barely. It coiled its body into a heart shape as it prepared an attack of its own, and lunged at Pyxis with incredible force. Her armor resisted the worst of it, but she still had to brace herself to avoid being thrown back by the sheer momentum. The snake then began coiling itself up again as it came out of the attack, preparing for another one. But before it got that chance, a blade materialized in Elpis's hand, and Pyxis directed the spirit to cut the shadow down. Which it did. Bravely.
What was a snake doing in a library, anyway? Did what types of shadows appeared have anything to do with the location at all? Pyxis had seen a Book type before, but maybe that had just been a coincidence? This called for some investigation. If there really was no pattern to it, then any means of predicting what shadows might appear where were useless. So Pyxis approached what was left of the snake: a couple of tangled symbols, and something very small jammed between them. On closer inspection, it was shaped like a card, and had something printed on one side. Pyxis pulled it out, and realized that it was a nametag. Only, it had no name, and simply said "librarian".
