Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
"I…forgot the names of the dishes on the cook book I use. I think it was called Pork Tamarind Stew, some south eastern native's dish, and compared to what I usually prepare it tends to taste the best." A bit embarrassed, for real this time, Vice decided to cover it up by chowing down on the last part of his chocolate cake. Finishing up both his tea and the glass of water that had been made available to him, the young man took the moment to lean down to let the sweets settle down.
"I'm not quite big on italian food but I'll take note of that. More of a local kind of guy to be honest but a good pizza now and then sure as hell is welcomed. I've passed it by a couple of times, though I frequent another bookstore since they usually have some pretty cheap stuff." And then Vice quieted down for like a moment for admittedly was a shit amount of suspense. "I'll make sure to check it out just to avail of the freebie."

She smiled at him. He looked embarrassed and that took away some of his aloof appearance.
"Ah, I've wanted to dabble more in Asian cuisine. I tried making chow mein but I'm still working on that. Pork Tamarind's a little out of my league right now, but I'll get there," she said cheerfully. "I used to grab a lot of recipes off the Internet before the perimeter went down. Now I'm looking for a decent recipe blog or site that originates in the city. Alternatively, there's always the good ol' cook book."
She finished off her cake too and sat back in the cushioned chair. "Pizza is great. I tried some with sweet and sour pork the other day. It's really strange to eat that on a pizza but it was quite fun to try. My cat liked it more than I did, haha. Eliot stole two pieces from the box when I was looking for a DVD. It was hilarious," she chuckled.
"The bookstore's started a series of sales, you can get some darn good stuff on the cheap. If you come around when I'm there I'll help you pick out good stuff at bargain prices," she chuckled. "The owners are batty about books. They've kind of made it their mission to provide everyone with books. They're even talking about setting up a lending program for people who can't afford to buy books."

"Asian cuisine really use a lot of different spices and pretty much every small amount you add could change the over all flavour more so as compared to western cuisine. And I've done the same. Down loaded a couple of videos on what should be done and all because why not? It'll help be anyway." He raised an eyebrow at the apparent nature of the owners and a small laugh escaped him at the image of an old couple forcing kids to go home with free books.
"That's awfully nice of them, and more reason for me to drop by one of these days." Allowing a few comfortable moments of silence to pass, the young man opted to check over his phone and eyed the time. A bit of it had passed but not quite enough to have him be late for his engagements tonight. It was a welcome break, this one, but Vice was a workaholic and thus couldn't really take away that particular aspect for his everyday schedule.
"It's getting a bit late though, I should go." Waving over one of the waiters and giving them the hand signal for the bill, Vice then pulled out his smart phone and with a few quick and easy to follow taps on the screen sent a message to his newest contact. It was basically a 'hi' so that she could get his own contact information and such.
"I'll pay for the food so don't worry about it. If you want to ask any questions, don't hesitate to message me alright? I'll try to answer them the best that I can."

"Ha, yep. That's the Kitanis alright. They love their job," she chuckled. "I envy them sometimes, they get along so well."
She sighed contently. It had been a nice afternoon after all, speaking with someone so plainly. She felt less alone in the city now. On mentioning he had to go, Phoebe remembered her own work.
"Ah, you're right," she said, checking her watch. "I've got to catch up on some typing for the school too. It was good speaking with you, Vice, I'm glad we met. Thanks for everything. If you need backup anytime for a scrap, let me know."
She stood up, stretched a bit and picked up her bag. Before she started on her way home, she waved at him and went on her way, feeling her heart a little lighter and contemplating what she'd learned and the person she'd just met.

"Old people understand things a lot better than us, I'm sure."
Vice offered as he sat there, enjoying the seat and the settling of the sweets down in his stomach. He watched the girl leave, waved even as she left before waving the waiter for the bill. A new person into the fold, and thankfully it wasn't another case like him. He could handle both but it was infinitely easier to just go through with already having an imaginary friend.
The currency then exchanged hands, and Vice picked up his own belongings after double checking his pockets. Everything said and done, the young man then headed on home to go prepare for the exploration tonight. Something was up and he sorely wanted to check it out.
