Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

He patiently listened to the girl's request, but when she was finished explaining, he simply wagged his finger at her, "Ah, ah, ah. That would be spoilers. Besides, I'm not interested in what the others do. I thought I'd made it clear already, but I'm different from the other Shadows- we're not in cahoots or anything of the sort. Personally, I happen to quite like you humans." He smiled at her to emphasize the point. "All I can tell you are my own goals, which I've already done. I study humans and their habits. That's it, really." The Shadow shrugged, not having any more to say on the matter. He didn't bother attacking again, since he doubted it would be effective anyway.

Spoilers, the man said. What was this, a televised animation? The Divine Comedy of Mosaic City? That'd be a laugh. If the trickster were to be taken at face value, then he insistence that he was separate of his brethren was a means of determining that each sentient Shadow was a bit more like humans than the riff-raff. They had their own goals and desires as well personalities. It was a simple explanation, but it covered plenty in its own right. For a moment, the boy remained silent, just considering the overall situation. Then, slowly, he began to twirl and walk around, pacing in circles for the sole sake of moving.
”All right. Suppose I accept your words for what they are, what's the Tales of Two Corpses, regarding that couple, then?” Despite the fact that he was referring to and even gesturing at the dead bodies on the floor, he showed them about as much concern as one did roadkill. Was it inhuman? Not really. He accepted that they were did. He didn't know them personally. He wasn't directly, or indirectly, responsible for their deaths. If his omelet was saving the city, then worrying over every single egg wouldn't get him very far.
Still, getting an answer regarding that bit of curiosity would help out, all the same.

The Shadow merely shrugged in response. He neither knew nor particularly cared how the children died. "I did play some small role in their fate, but I'm not the one who ended their lives. Who holds that particular honor, I could not say. But isn't it strange? If they were killed by a Shadow, then why is this area so devoid of life, Shadow or otherwise?" The man raised his cane and attempted to tear off another fragment of the girl's spiritual energy. After all, even if the atmosphere had lightened, there was still a danger. He couldn't trust the human- not yet, at least. And they could have a cordial conversation once she was rendered powerless all the same. At least Isaac had, to his credit, switched over to purely non-lethal means of combat.

While the explanation was appreciated, the boy in drag did not find the draining to be pleasant or desirable in any meaning of either word. Sighing as he gestured for his succubus to return the favor, the temptress firing off another Agilao, the boy just crossed his arms. The trickster wouldn't give a straight answer. If he played a role in their deaths, then did he point them to that place? Or had he chased them? No, if he was such a lover of humans as he claimed to be, it was likely the former, or some variation of it. Then, with a small shrug, he dismissed the man-Shadow's final bit as a casual comment. In truth, there were a number of explanations.
”Maybe they went out for lunch, or something.” The casual comment was accompanied by a slight smirk. Despite the tone and words, though, it was obvious that the boy- or girl, as he appeared- was not seriously suggesting such an idea. ”So you're not an artist of the macabre genre. I'll grant you that much. Good thing, too, because it'd be in bad taste. So, I figure that's all you'll give me straight-up. Y'gonna keep trying to suck me, or are y'gonna leave now?” Punctuating the question with a tilt of the head, the crossdresser blinked. Just how would this man proceed, exactly?

One thing became clear when the next fireball impacted against the Shadow. This seemed to be the girl's only attack, so that was something. Still, he had plenty of data now and analyzing it later would likely lead him to a few interesting revelations, not to mention a few new 'toys' to enjoy himself with. Not to mention that he was tired of getting pelted with fireballs, so it seemed like the fight would simply end here for now. He shrugged in response, "Yes, I suppose this little dance has run it's course. See you around, then." The Shadow turned and headed for the exit to the exhibit hall, but when he got near the doorway, he looked over his shoulder and smirked at the girl, "Or maybe not." With that out of the way, he took his leave. Unless the girl decided to go against her word and attack him while his back was turned, of course.

The man seemed to finally be willing to withdraw. The boy had gotten a little information, a key item for quests, and an impromptu victory. Though it was much longer and more drawn out than he really desired, it was, in truth, an altogether positive result for their conflict. Watching, and offering a slight wave before the man disappeared, the boy in drag waited. Alma Elma remained afloat and the boy kept his eyes fixated on the door. Time passed. Eventually, around a hundred and forty seconds had passed. That seemed like a good enough pause to be sure that the nameless man-Shadow was gone. Relaxing, he turned to the corpses that the man casually dismissed as being only slightly his fault.
Checking them, or their pockets, he acquired their names. He turned the ideas over in his head. Perhaps he should call their families and let them know? No, it would likely turn over on him. Plus, directing them to the ruins would likely just lead to needless death. Sighing slightly, the boy continued to rummage around through their belongings before finding a card. He flipped the thing around and gazed at the text. With a mental “du-nu-nu-nuuuuu”, he held the card over his head. He had found a lead. No, more correctly, he had found what could have been the connection between those kids and that Shadow.
”Strazos, huh?” He murmured to himself before pocketing the card and heading out. What would he do following that? Well, while his attire was entirely up in the air, he did believe he'd be checking in with this “Isaac Strazos”. It'd be a curious thing to verify, to be sure.
