"Seeing death pull people from the plane of the living so often has desensitized me from the concept thoroughly. Please understand that, despite all of the hope I have for something to happen and make this go away, it is much more reasonable for me to accept doom as the final outcome. I retake my previous statement. I shall accept dying here." While defending a lie, some of the truth managed to seep out. Honestly, though it did not apply to everyone else, he did accept death. One day, he will be destroyed by a Shadow so long as he continues to hunt them.
He will always continue to hunt them.
His eyes never left the browness of the steaming coffee before him. Another reason why he gave his 'character' such a bleak outlook of life was to evoke reaction. All he had witnessed thus far from humans was hope. How would they respond to someone who thought the opposite, that Mosaic City would fall due to the barricade's existence?
The one who was now changed into more casual clothing seemed audibly disturbed by how he regarded his non-existent friends. Something happened to him, maybe? As for the woman beside him, he did not know to much about. She hadn't said anything to note, so maybe she was pushing it away? She did attempt to break away from the subject by telling the other boy her name and complementing the chocolate.
Perhaps it would be much better for him not to agitate them further. He didn't want to be disliked, despite his assumptions that portraying a 'hate the world' character would repel people from him. So, in the end, he grabbed a spoon and stirred the milk and the coffee in his drink together. Idle talk commence. "..."
Idle talk does not equate to sitting and stirring idly.
