Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

That was probably the first time Akira had been honestly praised for something as simple as expecting an opinion on something. It was weird. Seemed the girl had trust issues. Her and every one-in-five people, it seemed. Finally, though, he got the answer he was looking for. Seemed she had a positive view on it, even if she herself didn't like things of that design. That was good, at least. He didn't have to worry about her averting her gaze because she loathed the idea of goth-loli. Nodding slightly, the boy relaxed his posture, smiling slightly. Perhaps he could embarrass her with something later?
”Trust is a fickle thing. Many people find it difficult to build, but infinitely easier to simply destroy. At the same time, though, we're a race built upon cooperation, and you'll find that the circumstances in areas with Shadows will sometimes require other people. It's nice to be cautious- you never know what kind of strange, disturbing, or creepy idiots you'll find in this world- but don't forget that you'll need assistance of your own at times. You never know who can be an ally, if you play your cards right. What I'm saying is this: Don't let an opportunity pass you up just because you're a little suspicious of others, okay?” He was probably talking too much. Chalk it up to having older-sibling-feelings out.
Oh well. It was up to her to get angry and shout or leave, not him.

”Trust is a fickle thing. Many people find it difficult to build, but infinitely easier to simply destroy." Amane tried her best not to avert her gaze from Ran. "At the same time, though, we're a race built upon cooperation, and you'll find that the circumstances in areas with Shadows will sometimes require other people. It's nice to be cautious- you never know what kind of strange, disturbing, or creepy idiots you'll find in this world- but don't forget that you'll need assistance of your own at times." Amane couldn't open her mouth to argue. "You never know who can be an ally, if you play your cards right. What I'm saying is this: Don't let an opportunity pass you up just because you're a little suspicious of others, okay?” Amane wished she had some pie left. She needed to chew on something.
"O-okay..." Amane reached for her long bag containing her bat."Um...thank you for that...well what I mean is the food and drink. I-I'll pay you back somehow at sometime." Amane was now getting awkward. What was with this girl? First her strange fashion and weapon and now all this. She pulled her bag over her shoulder. "I think I have the strength to walk home now....oh..." Amane looked around for a moment before taking a napkin. "Do you have a pen? It'd be good to know another user around here."

And it seemed that he managed to creep her out just enough, or strike a delicate enough chord, that the girl desired an escape from their meeting. Oh well. That was fine, and understandable as well. However, it did not seem that he scared the girl off completely. No, she apparently wanted his contact information. It was likely a situational chord, then. Which meant that, while the girl was fine with him, she wanted to escape while she was still calm. Admirable. Better than some individuals, at least. The boy's hand drifted away, into the folds of the dress, and retrieved a lime green block. At first, it looked like a toy, but, after it opened and revealed a screen and numbered buttons, it was obvious that it was a flip phone. With a few quick presses, he prepared a screen which showed his contact information. Naturally, all the details were for his female persona, as opposed to his normal information.
”If you lack your own, all the info is there. Otherwise, I can set up an ad-hoc network for you fairly quickly.” With a casual shrug, he held the phone out, screen facing her.
”If you lack your own, all the info is there. Otherwise, I can set up an ad-hoc network for you fairly quickly.” Amane looked at the screen Ran presented her with and then dug through her pocket. Thankfully her phone was still there. She nodded and took out her own phone. A simple small black smart phone. An earlier model, one that actually does a decent job of fitting in one's pocket.
"Thank you...Ran..." Amane closed the phone after the exchange of information. She placed her phone away. "If I discover anything peculiar or the like, I'll call and inform you....or maybe at some point we exchange what we know. Back at my apartment I've been taking notes and details on whatever I can about the place including some of the shadows I encountered there." Amane then bowed politely once more. "I'll...see you around..." Amane started to walk out of the cafe rather quickly. It could be the maid outfits or just the thought of being here...maybe what Ran said earlier.

Seemed that Amane had the same general taste in phones, or she was poorer than she let on. Out of respect, he chose to believe the prior, and, as a result, silently applauded her tastes in his mind. Phones should be as simplistic as possible. A few additional functions were nice, but a phone should have ultimately been used as a phone. The girl announced her intents, bowed, and then tried to leave. Well, that was that, then. But the boy did have his manners, even if they made him seem a bit off. Slowly waving, much in the way older women- typically shopkeepers- would in anime, he smiled.
”Be careful out there. See you when I see you.” With that, he redirected his attention to the mousse. Perhaps it would be okay to get another dessert while he was there? Just as a way of treating himself for saving a person? But, if he did, he'd have to work that much harder to burn the calories.
