Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Sakuya yawned and stretched, standing up and fidgeting. "Hmm... I don't really know. We could probably go to the park or we could stop by the pier and relax by the sea. I don't mind taking you to either place. But I think I've had enough excitement for a day, haha," Sakuya blushed and smiled. "It's been really fun hanging out with you." But to be honest, Sakuya would probably only see Maria as a good friend and probably confidant, too. Though of course Sakuya wouldn't dare to share her darker secrets with her if she could help it. After all, there was the chance any of the girls she encountered were Persona users. She knew Shadows had a negative reputation, if Maria knew about it, she might want to stay away from Sakuya, or she might even fight her, which would be a bad idea.

So Sakuya had two choices. The pier at the sea and the park. She was wondering were they should go. "Let's go to the sea then?" Maria asked Sakuya as she left the arcade. She loved the sea more. The wind that breezed through her hair and the water crawling up and back, switching with the tide. All were things that fascinated her. She really wished Sakuya wouldn't be caught in this entire situation but then again, it would be much less fun for Maria if she wasn't. Maria blame the shadows, but only because she didn't knew what else could have been responsible for this. Every shadow till now attacked her.

Sakuya nodded, seeing as Maria seemed to be more partial to going to the pier, which was perfectly fine with Sakuya. She didn't mind going to the beach or even just staying at the boardwalk. They both began to leave the arcade and made their way towards the strangely ominously named 'Loki's Pier,' though it was up to Maria to decide if she wanted to stay near the sea or if she just wanted to relax at the stalls on the boardwalk and have some refreshments, or anything of the sort. "So, do you like going to the beach, then?" Sakuya asked Maria as they made their way closer and closer to their next destination, which was the seaside.

Maria was happy that Sakuya didn't mind. She did really wonder Sakuya would do there. "not really in particular but it's rather nice there" Maria answered Sakuya's question. There would be a few stances from which they could get something to drink or eat, they could just going to sit in a cafe or tavern of sorts. "What do you make of all this quarantine stuff? I think it's rather strange." Maria asked Sakuya on the way to the beach. Maria only recently awakened and was really willing to learn to anything anyone thought about it. Of course Sakuya wouldn't know that Maria was a user. Maria also thought Sakuya knew nothing about as well the users nor the shadows. If she was a user however. Maybe they could have switch information.

Sakuya nodded. Yeah, it was nice at the beach. Eventually, they made it to the boardwalk and stairs to the beach safe and sound without much incident. Maria had asked Sakuya what she thought about the lockdown and how strange it was. That was one way to put it. Admittedly, Sakuya was inside the city when she occurred but being the Shadow that she was she had to investigate what was going on, and lo' and behold there were Shadows crawling the outskirts of the city past the terminal. As Sakuya guided Maria to a refreshments stall where they could get finger foods and a drink (Sakuya had planned to take Maria to one of the open-air tables out on the pier) she started to talk about her first impressions on the matter.
"Yeah, it's strange. I was inside when it occurred but I had a very bad feeling about the 'quarantine,' so I went out and checked it out... It wasn't a very pretty sight. Buildings destroyed, shadows freely roaming the area... It was chaos. I'm kind of baffled Mosaic City itself hasn't been overrun yet. But who knows what might happen in the weeks to come..."

Maria followed Sakuya to the refreshment stall. She carefully listened to Sakuya and tried to take how she said everything. She seemed to know a lot. Was she a user too? Only one way to find out. "Are you a user too?" Maria asked Sakuya. She actually hoped the young Sakuya didn't have to deal with such things but it wasn't very likely she knew things otherwise. Okay there were a few civilians that weren't users that knew, but she only met one of those until now. It was more likely she was an user, how sad it might be. "yea those shadows seem to be a problem. Haven't met a single one that didn't attack me on sight. I really wonder what their problem is, or maybe they are just mindless beast? Maria answered. She honestly didn't knew. No shadows she met up until now have brought up any sign of high intelligence. They kept becoming stronger and might deploy a new topic every now and then but that's about it.

"No, I am not a user," Sakuya shook her head as she ordered two cold drinks for Maria and herself. She wasn't sure if Maria wanted any actual food. Drinks would do for now. Eventually the drinks came and she took Maria to a wooden table nearby which overlooked the "sea". Truth to be told, she wasn't sure how this worked considering how the city was boxed in. Was there an outer boundary that blocked the sea as well? It was a weird logical inconsistency that Sakuya had only realized just now. "If you ask me, though, I don't think all shadows are mindless beasts. Don't get me wrong, most of them apparently seem to be considering how they are quite aggressive especially when provoked. But I know for a fact there are some more civilized ones that aren't always violent and are more impulse-driven. Similar to humans themselves, I think." Sakuya continued, looking out at the horizon.

So she was no user? On one part that was good, that meant Sakuya didn't needed to get involved with this. Maybe she would still awaken? Maria hoped not, she didn't wish this fate on anyone. Maria took her drink and followed Sakuya to their place. The sea was as beautiful as always. Maria wondered what would happen if they tried breaking out of the barricade by sea. Maybe there would be a barricade there too? Or maybe there would be a fleet of ships shooting on anything that tried to leave? Maria listened to Sakuya's explanation about how not every shadow was aggressive. "You really know some non-aggressive shadows? For real?" Maria asked with eyes big of unbelief. If someone else told her she wouldn't belief it, but Sakuya was a friend, and friends could be trusted right? If those existed then maybe humankind and the shadows could live together in the same world, with proper restrictions on the aggressive shadows of course.

Sakuya had half a mind to introduce herself to Maria as a Shadow, but it would probably only come to the poor woman as a cruel joke, so she held off on it. Come to think of it, she had only made her statement based on herself, and she wasn't actually SURE how true her own statement actually was. She continued looking out to sea. "Well, I don't think they're aggressive in the sense that they'll attack you on sight. I think they're the type to try to get to know you first before wondering if you're safe to be with, or what. I mean, there are also the more sick and base types who would rather toy with their victims in other ways. Shadows... They tend to take on the characteristics of humans as well. And the things that humans are familiar with," Sakuya sighed. "I'm sure you must have seen Shadows that look like everyday things. And you wonder, 'why do they look like that?' Inexplicably, Shadows are linked to humanity. Keep that in mind if you want to investigate the reason behind this quarantine."

"ugh I don't understand. How can you know that so sure." Maria was totally confused. She never considered all this. Maybe it was true, maybe not. There were so many things uncertain. All they could do was keep trying to find out everything. Sakuya then asked if she had seen shadows as everyday things. She then remembered the tiara. While not everyday it certainly was a human item. That at least made some sense. "What I still don't understand is how you know all that. Maria asked pondering. She really didn't suspect Sakuya or anything. Maria just was surprised that she knew that much about the shadows.

Sakuya shrugged and turned to face Maria, who seemed totally and utterly confused by how much she said with a straight face. "I am sure because I have seen it and I have felt it. I understand you must be confused and uncertain about many things regarding Shadows. I too am curious about the reasons for their behavior out in the circle," Sakuya said. They were mostly aggressive in that area yet they were seemingly contained. She had never seen any outright Shadow activity here in the city, except perhaps those times when the full moon rose and larger Shadows may have appeared in those areas. "So, it might be worth studying them and checking it out, you know what I'm saying?" Sakuya smiled. After all, she continued, her voice becoming unusually more innocent than normal, Knowing your enemy is simply half the battle!

Sakuya had seen and felt it? She really met and touched a shadow that didn't? Was that really possible? So many questions. This only rose more questions then it solved. She really wanted to believe that, but she just couldn't without seeing it for real. Studying shadows? If you tried that with most shadows she met you would end up dead. Then Sakuya voice became more innocent. The way she said it was really creepy. the words 'knowing your enemy is simply half the battle' kept flowing through Maria's mind. Did she talk about the shadows, or did she had a hidden meaning. even without the hidden meaning it was still creepy. The outgoing Sakuya she met, now being so innocent was really creepy. "W-what do you mean with that?" Maria asked before she could help it herself.

"Ah... Well, don't mind that..." Sakuya sighed and started speaking normally again. "All I just really wanted to say is that Shadows can be pretty dangerous. We both can feel their presence if they're nearby. Since it turns out to be a pretty bad feeling in our minds..." she continued. "I don't really mean to scare you at all. I'm just concerned for your safety, you know? Since I don't actually know how strong and capable you are. And I'd like to look out for you as a new friend. Right? That wouldn't hurt?" she smiled awkwardly and hoped Maria would just let her sudden lapse earlier slide... That was quite accidental and she didn't mean to let her Shadow-influenced voice come out...

Maria was glad Sakuya spoke normal again. This conversation was getting stranger and stranger. Sakuya was definitely trying to hide something. But what? She wasn't a user, she claimed but was that true? Or was she something entirely different? Or was she really just a normal human that fought shadows like that boy she met one day, and she just accidentally sounded so creepy. She couldn't forget it like that, but she tried to calm down. "That's good, Thank you for that trying to keep me safe, but you almost scared me to death. Anyway, as your friend I ask you to be careful to deal with any kind of shadow." Maria tried to tell her. As she never remembered to have seen any shadow that didn't attacked her on sight.

"Dealing with any kind of Shadow? I appreciate your concern, friend, but I think I'll be quite alright. Please do not worry about me," Sakuya said to Maria, smiling. "I should be able to handle any enemy of mine, whether they are human or a Shadow." she continued. It was clear to Sakuya that Maria was probably trying to piece together everything based on what Sakuya had said, but probably had some difficulty reaching the correct conclusion. Which was good, because Sakuya had no idea how the teacher would react if she found out Sakuya was in fact a Shadow herself. That would be bad, because Maria was actually kind of adorable to have as a friend, in a way. She was way too innocent and seemed almost naive. At least for a young adult in her early twenties.
