Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
DJ looked around, though he had been here before to hunt for valuable things to sell this seemed to be the only notable place in the earliest parts of the outer circle that he had not been to in order to actually fight shadows and train himself. Now that he had been out exploring a few times and had a few fights under his belt he was feeling more like he was getting the hang of this. He had finally healed up from his encounter with the Gigas after a few days but hopefully nothing like that would happen this time.
He stepped carefully through the lower floors of the executive building, glancing around the hallways carefully as he inspected the area. He knew this would probably be a bad place to scavenge for supplies but maybe there would be more shadows here than trinkets, even if he knew there were stronger shadows higher up. He centered his mind to prepare to call out his Persona if needed and pulled out his sword as well as to not be caught off guard. Hopefully this training session would go smoothly today and he could contribute in some small part to cleaning up the shadows closest to the city and protecting everyone.
DJ wandered the halls before finding a blob-like shadow on top of a large stack of papers. A maya, he had fought one in the sewers before so he could approximate their strength. At least this one wasn't covered in feces and it should have been quite a bit easier than fighting the Gigas from the art museum. He hoped so at least, hopefully he wouldn't black out this time. He drew his sword and the Maya quickly saw him, knocking over the stack of papers and lunging at him. He sidestepped before it got through the doorway and slashed at it as the shadow got into the hall.
The Maya reared back from the cut but otherwise suffered little damage. A gust of wind blew down the hall and knocked DJ off his feet and into the wall, a Garu spell. He grabbed his card and focused, summoning Arianrhod as quickly as he could and getting to his feet. "Cleave!" He called out, letting the knight pass by the Maya and cut it for a somewhat stronger slash strike. The Maya cried out, a bit more wounded but still quite active, DJ felt like he was getting a bit better at this.
The Maya lunged out and scratched him, lashing out with a normal attack. It hurt but the boy felt like he could take it, especially after getting hammered by that Gigas this felt like nothing. "Let's try this, my strongest spell, Bufu!" He pointed down at the Maya and a spear of ice impaled into it. The Maya cried out in pain, severely wounded now and moving a bit differently with its slithering shadowy body. He jumped back with Arinrhod behind him and faced off against the wounded Maya with his sword outstretched. It was time to finish this quickly.
The wounded Maya wound up its arms and lashed out at him with stronger strike, a Viper Smash. "Cleave!" Arinrhod's sword met with the shadow's arm, slicing it off but the Maya still looked enraged as it sloshed forward with its one good arm, aiming another Viper Smash directly at DJ while his Persona was distracted from the previous attack. It hit him hard but he swung his sword down at the same time, lodging it in the blob's head area before he was knocked back. He was hit but the shadow disappeared soon after from its head wound. "Good job..." DJ sighed softly and picked up his sword, dismissing Arinrhod and heading back the way he came.
