Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
Artemisia... hmmm... That name did ring a bell, but she couldn't really remember from when or where. She really read that name in some kind of old history book once. She just couldn't recall which one. Well, she most likely could look it up home online. As internet was such a good source of truth. Her wind element didn't symbolize a lot but her healing did. After all she guided young life in hopes to give them a better future. "And then there are those creatures... Shadows, I think they are called. Each time I see them they seem so... aggressive and I have been trying to find any logic in their evolution, but they are so variable that it seems impossible." Of course, she didn't knew about humanoid shadows yet. All she knew where the aggressive monsters that attacked any human on sight.

Every opportunity huh? It seemed like all shadows were evil. All she met up till now though. She knew herself it wasn't possible that she met all the shadows out there in the shadowlands. She never actually saw a living soul there except the shadows and one time that old man for a mission at the airport. "Do you recall seeming something out of place, except the shadows and stuff most persona users know about?" Maria asked. Well there was enough out of place, but maybe she could get some new information out of Isolde. Any new information could save her ass next time she encounters shadows.

A person that might want to harm Isolde family? That wasn't good. Maria couldn't imagine what she would do if something happened to her family. Maria hoped it was something personal and that it wouldn't occur to all persona users. Well it could be some lead. Maybe she could find out who this guy in the jester clothes. "I will keep an eye out for him, thank you for the warning." She then started to think if she could tell her something in return. "Be careful on nights with a full moon, they tend to carry very strong shadow with them. She eventually told her. She wasn't sure if she knew it already, but Maria was still a little new to this so she couldn't tell a lot.

Unpredictable? how? There was no real indication so far Maria knew that it would be unpredictable, other then that they should be ready for anything. What could possibly be different? It was defeated last time wasn't it? She was certain it wouldn't be any different this time. How hard could it be? Yes it was tiresome, but it had to happen, and only persona users could do it. "How do you mean unpredictable?" She asked out of curiosity. It could be that she knew something she didn't knew herself. "Just be ready for anything is everything we can do for now, I guess. And training around town were shadows happen to be." She told the girl.

unexpected weaknesses... She had some history with that. She still remembered that one time she defeated a gigas type shadow when striking him with her sword coated in his own electricity. That attack almost got her too though. That entire battle made little to no sense, when she thought back. She scratched her head a little when thinking back at it. It wasn't an easy battle. "I know, don't remind me." She told her curtly. She didn't really like to be reminded from that battle. "I usually train at a different place a lot of the time. I think it is good to be prepared for anything."

That sounded familiar. When she didn't had to do anything in the evening she would go to train as well, if she wasn't to tired that is. "Me? I train all over the place, wherever there are shadows. I think it's the best to train in the middle of combat, I always have up till now. How about you?" She finished her explanation. It still was strange, first they just went to get some books and now they were talking about evil creatures that terrorized this city. A waiter arrived to ask what they would drink. "Oh, one soda will do for me! She really couldn't drink anything with alcohol now, she still had to work tomorrow. The waiter then turned to Isolde and asked what she wanted to drink.

Castle's library? Might be worth checking out. If strong shadows really appeared there it might be a good place to train. Maria did see a castle far away when she went to the airport once. Maybe it was it. But it was very far away and she wasn't sure if she with her Pixie persona could make it, let alone handle to shadows there. "Do you mean the one in the outskirts?" She asked the younger girl. It didn't took long for the drink to arrive. "Thank you! Maria said energetically while taking a sip of her drink. "It really seemed far away. I don't think I can get there yet." Maria stated.

It might be useful to save that information for later. Who knows she actually could reach that place one day. She really found it strange that she said 'high level' like it was a video game or something. Maria couldn't help but giggle a little. "Have you ever met any overly strange abilities in the shadows. I once found a group that was weak to the elements they owned themselves. That, and they looked more strange then the usual shadow." She hadn't discussed this with other users yet, but she thought that Isolde was experienced then most she met till now. She might just know something more about this. She actually only knew that one was weak to its own element, but she suspected that the others were as well. Since most shadows she met till now were at least strong against elements they used.

So Isolde didn't encountered any shadows like that. Now that she thought back of it, it was only a single one and maybe there was some kind of strange reason behind it. Just because it happened once it wouldn't be that strange. What was that, Isolde said about almighty attacks. That sounds.... almighty strong? "Almighty spells?" She asked the younger girl. She was a little curious about what she meant with almighty spells. "Isn't there some way to bypass an immunity to ice? She asked her. Maybe there was a spell that broke a resistance to a particular element. It would be worth investigating such stuff. Maybe she could learn them eventually as well.

Megidolaon? She might have heard of such an attack before during a full moon battle. In any case it sounded like a very powerful attack. That might be useful for her too if she encountered shadows that were strong or immune to wind. If she met those now she either had to attack physically or use Marin Karin. She still didn't like the later one. Well it saved her skin more then she can remember so it was worth it. Ice break? Sound mighty useful. She wondered if there was a wind version, that could surely be a huge boon to her. "Sounds a lot better than having to charm enemies you normally can't hit." Maria said back after taking another sip of her drink.
"I think that'll be better than trying to charm enemies, yes. I usually attack before I do necessary healing." she responded to Maria's question. Sipping some of her water, she found it quite to her liking as it tasted like spring water from a bottle. She certainly did not try to charm them as she was afraid that she'll waste a turn. Rather than charming them, she attacked them and let them attack her in return. Healing herself when her wounds were severe were necessary to survive during a battle. Turns spent attacking were much better than trying to inflict a status ailment on them anyway. While a number of Shadows spawned had a weakness to fire, others were weak to different things.

Indeed, it at least is guarantied to work if it hits." Maria answered. If enemies were immune to wind and not charmed by Marin Karin it was really a huge problem for her. Not only was she entirely open to attack but there was nothing she could do except helplessly swinging her katana or attempt another Marin Karin. She really need to think up some better ways to fight against shadows. As what she just heard from Isolde, and how the situation was now it was only going to get worse. She drank up the her drink. I too usually have the habit to only heal in combat when it is absolutely necessary. She continued. Because healing could always be done after the fight, but yes, shadows could take advantage about this too. Luckily enough all shadows she met up till now weren't smart enough for it.
Her weapon attacks weren't that good, nor was her weapon's condition so that was a great hint. "Thanks I might try it sometimes." That is... if she ever got to learn that. Up till now she had no idea how she determined what spells she would eventually learned. In most extreme cases she thought something up to spot and hoped it would work. When they did she usually was hurt very much that evening. "Indeed it is, but it's better to finish off you're opponent before healing. It would leave you open for an attack if you don't." She reacted. Way to much she defeated a shadow after struggling with her healing. Which ended up in more healing after the fight that could have been used to just blast the damn thing. True she was very green back then, but when she things back about it she might have done it differently. But... maybe that wasn't how the world worked, luckily she learned from it. Making still worthwhile.
