Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Phoebe was rather tired. She'd wandered through the old executive building once again, wiping out Shadows that showed up before her; the smaller ones lately had started running away from her, actually. Some would just flee the moment they clapped eyes on her or when she got close enough like they could feel they couldn't take her on anymore. But those were very few. The ones left were still strong enough to give her a decent challenge. She came to the executive building determined to "seek her fortunes" in the form of salvageable materials, and to unravel the secrets of the place.
What was at the top? What attracted Shadows to it?
She rubbed her shoulder absently. She was stiff and a bit sore after all that working out and stair-climbing. She used to be so unathletic... She was a bit better now but nowhere near ready to take on a marathon or anything. And she was still pretty damn pudgy.

Phoebe was expecting this encounter. Well, not this one Shadow specifically, but one like it. She was always fascinated by the often ridiculous diversity of Shadows' appearances. There were always certain types or archetypes of Shadows but they all looked different.
The Shadow laughed scornfully and cast a spell that surrounded it in a flash of light. Phoebe raised an eyebrow. She'd seen that kind of spell before and hesitated using physical attacks against it. She summoned Hypatia, who appeared by her side in a flash of azure light. At the same time, the orange light of the defense-buffing spell danced around her, without her prompting.
I have grown stronger; that spell will trigger automatically now. I can increase it as you wish, Hypatia said with a tinge of pride in her voice.
Well, that's good, Phoebe thought. I can focus more on attacking, then.
"Zionga!" Phoebe blurted before she even thought about it. So her lightning attacks had gotten stronger too.
Hypatia obliged and after striking her shield with it, she pointed her spear upwards and out of nowhere a bolt of lightning came down and struck the Gigas. It was quite stronger than her previous lightning attacks and the Shadow was staggered a bit. It stood straight again and swung its arm down in a hefty punch. A swelling of kinetic energy gathered above her and then crashed down on Phoebe and Hypatia, who were only protected partially by Hypatia raising her shield.
There was a sharp sound and the impact seemed to bounce back off her shield and return to the Gigas. There was another, similar sharp noise and Phoebe saw the magic shield of the Shadow shatter. Oh, so the physical shield spell was only good for one attack after all. She found that interesting.
"Maragion!"
Phoebe tried fire on this guy but the result wasn't to her satisfaction. The Shadow took damage but it was clearly not enough. In retaliation, the Shadow cast another spell; Phoebe screamed in shock and pain when a big cluster of lightning bolts came crashing down on her and Hypatia. It hurt very much and she felt blisters and sores erupting skin from the electricity and she stumbled back.
"Argh! Hypatia, Myriad Arrows!"
The physical attack had a slightly better result as the piercing shards of energy penetrated the Shadow's body repeatedly, staggering it. It tried to attack her again with another powerful strike attack, but she managed to dodge it just in time and launch another lightning attack. It took two more of those to completely take out the Shadow and in the meantime Hypatia managed to deflect another of the powerful strike attacks back at the Shadow, with no success, and Phoebe dodged the second.
The Shadow collapsed and dissolved into pieces without much fanfare but Phoebe wiped her eyebrow. She felt quite tired and decided to cut her exploration excursion short.
