Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Whoooally moley, that was a big hole! Anna had just been wandering around, in the direction of the city outskirts, and had come across this place. It had to be hundreds of feet deep! Maybe even more! And on top of of everything else, there seemed to be a strong shadow presence coming from deep inside. Today was her lucky day, then! It was also her first day here, but never mind that. She walked up to the edge, peering over it and into the depths. There seemed to be a narrow path leading down and around the edge, but...no, that would take too long. With a gesture, she called out Thunderbird and hopped onto its back. The massive bird persona took off with a heavy flap of its wings, stirring up a few clouds in the process, then descended into the depths of the hole.

Anna sensed shadows gathering beneath her as she approached the bottom of the hole. Only a couple of them, though. "A welcoming party? Ain't that special," she said cheerfully, lifting what seemed like an ordinary (if bulky) closed umbrella from her shoulder. She didn't get off, though. Given her current position, it would be easier to fight while mounted. She drifted off to one side to get a good look at her enemies. A Gigas and a Snake, huh? That could be interesting. Well, first off, keeping the Gigas at a distance would make it much harder to get hit by its most basic attacks. And the Snake... "Aw, what the hell. Let's just get started," she said, sending out a wave of energy to reduce their defenses. Sure enough, the Gigas and Snake both tried to use physical attacks, but failed to reach her. So Anna started charging up, focusing her mind for a really strong attack.
The Gigas learned quickly that it couldn't just punch this enemy down, and instead hit her with a blast of wind. Aww, and here Anna thought it would get inventive! It just did a wavy thing with its hands and wind came out. That wasn't going to do anything to her. "Hey, I bet my wind's stronger," she said. "Wanna test it? I'll demonstrate on the snake over here." She shifted her focus to the snake, which had also figured out that it couldn't effectively slash at her, and instead coiled its body into a heart shape and tried to charm her. But, sadly, status skills were still woefully unreliable, and the move didn't affect her. "Here goes!" she said, grinning. She gripped tightly onto Thunderbird's neck as it stirred up a galestorm, amplified to over twice its original power, and sent it ripping through the snake's body. Anna could see the gusts leaving deep wounds all over it, from which a black, ichor-like substance leaked out and dissolved as it hit the air. Ahh, what a pleasant sight. But the shadow itself was still alive. She must have found one of the strongest nests already, just by chance. Not many run-of-the-mill shadows could stand up to even one of her attacks. She gave a delighted grin, then started preparing for another attack. The Gigas continued to fruitlessly try to blast her with wind, which seemed like the only thing it was capable of doing at range, while the snake blasted her with fire.
Yikes.
Thunderbird quickly lost altitude as the fire hit, and had to land. Pain spread through Anna's body, but it would have been much worse without the armor and seven years of experience with taking hits. That was a fresh reminder, though, that she hadn't yet gotten the materials to fireproof her new vest. That was something she would have to do sooner rather than later. For now, though, she'd just focus on finishing off the shadows in front of her. Bolts of lightning shot out from the gathered clouds around Thunderbird as it took off again, striking both shadows. The snake dissolved as the first bolt struck it, while another hit the Gigas. It was in the process of running towards Anna though, and managed to slam a fist into Thunderbird before it got completely off the ground.
"Ooh, not bad, not bad," Anna said, leaning over Thunderbird's wings to wave down at the Gigas. She waved, of course, with her umbrella-carrying hand, before pointing the tip down at the shadow and squeezing a trigger hidden within the canopy. A shot ran out as the Gigas's armored body was punctured by a slug. Oh, look, a weakness. Grinning at the sight and not giving the shadow time to react, she fired again, finishing it off.
Ahh, that was a good warm-up. One shadow torn apart by devastating winds and also lightning, one shot to death by a couple of slugs. And speaking of which, Anna flicked the canopy of her shotgun-umbrella open to reload a couple rounds. Normally, she'd stick to fire one, load one, but sometimes needed to wait for two or three.
With that taken care of, she folded the 'umbrella' closed again, and hefted it back over her shoulder. As she slid off Thunderbird's back, the Persona dispersed and returned to the recesses of her mind. From here, she'd continue on foot for a bit. At least, until she needed aerial movement again.
