Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

And here we are again, searching around an abandoned building populated by supernatural monsters that want little more than killing humans. This time, John's expeditions into the outer circle had brought him to an abandoned car factory in the ruined city. The insides seemed to have already ben thoroughly ransacked by other explorers, so John decided to search other parts of the factory grounds. The shadows here seemed to be another step up frrom what he had previously encountered, yet John did not fear. He was packing quite some firepower after all. Still, the sound of a car being overturrned was still quite startling. John pivoted into the direction of the sound and readied his weapons.

As usual. One of the local shadows had decided to attack John. This one seemed to be mechanical on nature although it was difficult to see what lay behind its thick armor plating. It menaced with numerous spikes and sharp edges, making it quite clear it had been built to ram into its enemies. To make matters worse it had ambushed John in a wide open space with little room for maneouvering. John would compliment this sound tactical decision had this not been a battle of life and death.
Wanting to take the initiative. He fired a blast from his shotgun at the shadow. The bullets bounced off of the shadow's armor plating. only causing negligeble damage in the process. It seemed the armor was made to protect against all kinds of physical attacks.
The shadow now made an attack of its own. As expected, It charged at John. However, instead of crashing into him, the shadow narrowly zipped past him. John only saw the glint of the blade sticking out of the shadow's side when it had already cut into his side.
The wound was quite painful, though it didn't bleed too profusely. John remembered that flames had always been surprisingly effective at damaging armored vehicles. Maybe that logic would also apply on this shadow.
He shot a small jet of flames from his flamethrower to test his theory. The shadow seemed to ignore the flames at first. However, the burning fuel then started to seep through the various gaps in the armor. At that moment, the shadow started writhing about, seemingly in pain from the fire now burning within.
The shadow, seemingly having recovered from the pain. Revved up and charged at John. This time, it took a sharp sliding turn. Hitting John with one of its appendages. The blow knocked the wind out of John while also heavily bruising his lower torso.
John, seeing the shadow's frantic, almost panicked attack. Took it as a sign that it was sustaining serious damage. This motivated him to pick himself up and fire another jet of flame at the shadow. The flames caused the same reaction as last time. This time however, the flames also seemed to rouse something within the shadow. It slowly started distending as if internal pressure was starting to rise to unsafe levels.
The shadow, seemingly fed up with the situation, released a mechanical growling and opened a plate on its frontside. John flinched for a moment as the shadow revealed the opening to contain a large chaingun. John scrambled to find a hiding place from the ballistic onslaught that was sure to follow. His only option seemed to be the car the shadow had overturned when it first revealed itself.
The mad dash for the car as the chaingun let loose and fired a torrent of lead at the fleeing old man. John could hear and almost see the bullets whizzing past him. With a final leap, John rolled behind the relative safety of the wrecked vehicle.
The car provided safety from the gunfire at least temporarily. Just then , he heard a high-pitched whistling. The reaction Johns flamethrower had started had caused pressure to rise to critical levels. The shadow distended to dimensions clearly far greater than it had been designed to handle. And then, like a balloon popping. The shadow utterly exploded. The blast spread various pieces all over the place.
John peeked out from behind the car, seeing just a crater where the shadow used to be "guess he couldn't handle the pressure" John said jokingly as he tensed down.

Well, that was quite a spectacular and also unexpected end to the battle. John Picked Himself up from behind the wrecked car and surveyed the devastated battlefield. He had been quite lucky his flamethrower had such a profound effect. Of course, he wasn't going to dwell on the matter, It was time he moved on back to the relative safety of the city. He had used up all the fuel in his flamethrower during the battle and his ears were ringing from the explosion. Just as he prepared to make his leave however, A can of soda, thrown high up into the air by the explosion, landed on his head in a rather comical fashion. John took the soda wtih him as he recognized it as that particular medicinal soda that cured various ailments.
