Name: Sayu Nakano, DJ Nyanimaru
Age: Eighteen
Date of Birth: July 8th
Birthplace: Minato, Tokyo; Japan
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: After indulging in the media her loyal fans praised so highly, Sayu is openly bisexual. Guys are cool, sure. Girls are just as fine, though.
Face Claim: Shirakiin Ririchiyo – Inu X Boku SS
Appearance:
Height: 5'1
Distinguishing Features: Sayu has a splotch-like birthmark on the left side of the back of her neck.
Class: Veteran Persona-user
Arcana: Magician
Occupation: Private songwriter, synthesizer, and composer by commission, also a DJ when the desire hits her; was a student, but was on vacation when the lockdown occurred, and has since not given a crap.
Weapons and Proficiencies (Optional): Due to Sayu's preference to use one hand for communication using her phone, she refuses to use any two-handed weapon. Similarly, she has no desire to get up close to enemies. Too dirty, plus it'd potentially lead to her phone getting damaged. So she needed a long-range, one-handed weapon. Now, you might think of a gun, but the recoil on those is bad and annoying.
So what does Sayu use? Simple.
Sayu wields a lightweight, highly-customized paintball gun. Calling it that is actually incorrect, but the concept originated from a paintball gun. The weapon itself is modified to utilize CO2 for bullet propulsion, but it fires the rounds at exceedingly high velocities, ensuring that the rounds explode, or “splat”, on contact. Now, even if it is a paintball, that's just pain at best on a human, so why would it bother a Shadow?
See, in this case, the girl's balls are loaded with a cryogenic formula. Specifically, an altered form of liquid nitrogen. Upon bursting on contact with a target, the liquid nitrogen spreads and freezes the contact area, causing Ice-based damage.
Personality: Sayu may lack a voice, but she is far from silent. The irony is that, despite being mute, the girl can raise a larger ruckus than even the noisiest of harpies. The girl wields an ego with practiced ease. She will not hesitate to cut someone down for their shortcomings, and doesn't flinch when someone strikes at her own. One could call her abrasive, abusive, just simply unfriendly, or disruptive to the peace. A lot of the time, it looks like she goes out of her way to distance herself from others- either by directly telling people off or by ignoring them outside of necessity.
It's not a matter of trust. It's not a matter of desire. It's a matter of need. For the most part, Sayu doesn't need other humans to get by. She has financial backing from her family, the skills to make a living, even with her dreams shattered, and a faithful servant to see to her needs around the house. What need does she have for normal, unrelated, uninteresting, and unfaithful people? That's not to say that she's entirely apathetic to other human beings, but the majority of them typically don't get her attention. She prefers to rely on herself outside of her domain, and letting others get near her just gets in the way.
Once upon a time, the girl had been like any other. Friendly and polite. A dreamer with the will to follow and strive after success. When she lost the ability to speak, her dreams were shattered. She became a cynic and pessimist, but only after her “friends” gradually drifted away. Girls were potentially more cruel than even boys. After all, the moment they lost interest in you, you might as well have been dead, right? That was the situation that Sayu found herself in. She didn't let it bother her, though. She accepted it, adapted to it, and overcame the environment she was left in, questionably at the expense of her social life.
There is the occasional individual that she isn't outright harsh to. People with similar circumstances, those that fight after their dreams, and people that never give up draw a slight, if not twisted, smile to her face. There's also the occasional person treated as the environment's buttmonkey. She sometimes takes pity on them and guides them to safety. The ones that do get close to her may not necessarily be exempt from her figurative tongue, however. They just get slightly warmer and more personalized abuse. But, all the same, it's easy to tell when there's affection behind it.

History: Sayu grew up is a fairly nice environment. Her parents were loaded thanks to smart moves with purchasing stocks. As a result, a few small, but extremely lucrative and productive companies were under the Nakano banner. Sayu had whatever she wanted. Nice clothes. Good food. Attention, love, affection. At school, she was a social flower that was the center of attention. She had dreams of singing, as well as the God-given talent to follow through.
And then that single most important thing to her failed.
Turns out, Sayu's vocal cords were very weak. All the hardcore practice the girl went through? Finished 'em. Fatality. Flawless victory. Dreams that were soaring came crashing down- a nose dive with a perfect ten as the victims shattered on the ground. Powder that scattered in the wind- nothing left. The girl's chances of recovering her voice were close to zero outside of natural healing or advances in technology beyond what existed. In either case, the girl's chances of being able to sing while she still had means or will were gone.
Around that time, she was ostracized at school due to her differences with those around her. Even her “friends” were quick to leave her alone outside of harassment and teasing. It was just proof that they swarmed to her like flies to honey because it seemed like an easy way to get free gifts. If Sayu couldn't talk, then the return-on-investment was really not worth it anymore- too much effort to stay on her good side.
It was during this time that the companies under the Nakano family's jurisdiction began working on high-powered phones and complex text-to-speech programs with more “human” capabilities. Eventually, it was the prototype of both that found its way into the girl's hands. It was not her voice, but she could speak. The software was adaptive, capable of learning emotional inflections, and, with time, it was really as if the girl had developed a new voice.
Of course, if we left it like that, then she'd be a pretty normal, reasonably happy person, right? Well, happy as she may be, she's far from normal. At age fifteen, three years ago, an incident occurred. It wouldn't be heard about on the news. It was relatively quick and affected only a small location- plus, only a few people that were there were even aware of it. It was within the Minato ward of Tokyo that a Shadow incident occurred. Perhaps it was more widespread than that, but neither Sayu nor her allies at the time were aware of it. The average person was unaware, seemingly in a daze. Most electronics ceased working. All manner of chaos occurred, but none of it was recorded.
Sayu awakened to her Persona, as did several others. They banded together and fought against the Shadows. The fighting was intense- vicious. Over the course of three days, the band of Persona-users battled against the Shadows, purging them. By the end of it, many of the Users had grown, matured, their Personas having evolved to new forms as a result of their personal growth and new ideals. Sayu was one of them. Following that, she and her butler were approached by a certain organization that claimed to know all about Shadows. Information was given, and an informal business arrangement was made. On occasion, the girl and her butler would assist in clean-ups. In return, the organization would help develop more powerful platforms for her software, as well as assist in empowering the software. This eventually led to the software becoming artificially intelligent. Of course, medical assistance was also promised, once technology progressed far enough. Sayu didn't expect much out of that bit, though.
Fast forward a bit, and you have a vacationing Sayu with her butler. They just happened to be in Mosaic when a lockdown occurred. Sayu? Didn't care, outside of being annoyed. For a few months, she just built up a local following with her arts and skills. It wasn't until some of the fans she was personally acquainted with started vanishing that she started to care. Cue her investigation into the truth of the lockdown, as well as her reprising role as a Shadow-slayer, at the present time.
OOC Name: Eri, of course.
Persona: Tamamo no Mae
Appearance: The picture will be linked for the sake of not-stretching the board.
Persona Lore: Tamamo-no-Mae's story may vary, but it's generally agreed on that she was a beautiful and intelligent woman, and that she always had an odd, but pleasant scent about her. She was well liked and served the emperor. Later, an onmyoji revealed that Tamamo-no-Mae was actually an evil kitsune, employed by another lord, to kill the emperor through disease. She disappeared, but was hunted down by agents of the emperor, eventually being slain. Through her death, the Sessho-seki, or “Killing Stone”, came to be, killing those that came near it.
