Name: Alvis Hartmann
Age: 28 years old (Shadow for 8 years)
Date of Birth: December 25th
Birthplace: Denmark
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: He hates everything equally.
Face Claim: Heiwajima Shizuo - Durarara!
Appearance:
Height: 5'11"
Distinguishing Features: Alvis has short, vibrant blonde hair that he prefers to keep in order. He is almost always wearing a pair of blue-tinted shades as well as a waiter uniform as per his job. Again, he likes to keep his clothes tidy.
Class: Shadow
Arcana: Chariot
Occupation: Head Waiter
Weapon (Optional): Fists; Tendency to throw large objects as well.
Personality: At first glance, Alvis appears to be a pretty chill guy. His hobbies are all quite relaxing and he can usually be seen wearing rather tidy, formal clothing. However, this is far from what the man is really like. His hobbies are relaxing out of necessity.
Alvis has an extremely bad temper that can be set off from the simplest of things. The trigger could be something insignificant or a complete misunderstanding, but once he gets mad, there's only one way to calm him down. You see, to go along with the young man's temper, Alvis possesses insane physical strength partially due to his nature as a shadow. And since he has that insane strength, he's more than willing to use it to calm himself down. If one were to enrage him, they can expect him to do everything within his physical power to take out his frustration on them.
That being said, the man still has manners and a good deal of ethics. Should he get angry in the workplace, the man knows to take business outside, by force if need be. When he isn't angry he can be quite reliable and even somewhat enjoyable to talk to. He may make a friend here and there, but one shouldn't count on such a thing. And should they make a friend out of the man, they shouldn't expect to get off easy if they make him mad. The man tends to find like company with other shadows, though exceptions could be made. Of course with a temper like his, there's no telling where his opinion of someone could go in the matter of an instant.
Likes: Tea, Peace and Quiet, Playing Chess, His Job, Reading, Relaxing in General
Dislikes: Loud and persistent noises, Logic Puzzles, Brats, Getting his clothes dirty, Getting waken up when he doesn't want to be, Anyone that looks at him funny, Anyone that says something he doesn't like, Anyone that physically gets in his way, Anyone that acts like a snob, Anyone that is all talk, Anyone he simply doesn't like (Yes, for no reason.) Also doesn't care for most other things.
History: Alvis was born in a little town in Denmark into a then family of three consisting of his mother, father, and himself. All throughout his childhood, Alvis was a rather unhappy child. Every day he'd wake up to a dreary sky, a nagging mother, and an abusive father. On every walk to school the boy would run into something small but rather annoying before reaching the school gate. One day a car might splash a giant puddle on him. On another, maybe it was just a bit too cold for his taste. Or perhaps, he might step in a dog turd or something equally nasty. At school, his classmates all seemed to be just as annoying as his family. Some were too loud and obnoxious while others were just blatantly unbearable to be around. The teachers were no different of course. It was this dreary lifestyle that set Alvis up to be the angry person that he is today.
With such a dreary lifestyle, Alvis was rather pessimistic about the world around him. Was he angry at it though? No. At least, not yet. He simply figured that he didn't understand it yet. And so, the boy decided to try to fit in with the dreary world around him that he disliked to a reasonable degree. He tried taking up a hobby as a first attempt. Violin. So, the boy began to take violin lessons. Though he expected something enjoyable or at least fulfilling, the boy instead received frustration and lack of progress. Of course, when it came time for his first recital, he was more than prepared. He played with exceptional talent. Surely he would be met with praise and he would feel good about himself; right? Of course not. His parents didn't even bother to show up. As for other kids, they simply made fun of him for picking such a silly hobby. The boy's life simply became more and more frustrating. But what did Alvis do? He kept it bottled up along with the other awful feelings he held.
Alvis quit violin shortly after, deciding to never to try it again. Instead the boy decided to try another alternative. After a dreadful school life, the boy didn't want to go to college. Though, it wasn't like his parents would pay for it anyway. Instead, the boy decided to go straight into the workforce. The boy hadn't expected anything amazing but he was soon proved wrong. He was hired at an electrical company where he soon began to adjust to the working life. Pretty soon, they even had talk about sending him up the promotion ladder. It was at that point that the young man began to think that life wasn't so bad.
It was then that an incident happened in that rainy little town in Denmark. There were a few explosions, some riots, and plenty of confusion going around. Though he wouldn't know about it yet, the incident was Shadow-related. And it was this incident that caused the young man's workplace to go into bankruptcy. He was let go from the company shortly after. Again, Alvis kept his anger bottled up inside him assuming a calm, but sad expression.
After losing his job, the young man began to wander the streets of his awful hometown at night. He was at a loss for what to do with himself. Of course, tonight the man was about to experience the Dark Hour for the first time. Alone in the streets of his hometown, the boy was confronted by someone who looked exactly like him. The double simply stood there, looking at him with an extremely angry expression. Alvis stood there staring right back with an unpleasant, seemingly sad face. Despite this, he didn't like the look that he was giving him one bit.
Then all at once, the double began to taunt him. He began to ridicule him for everything that had happened in his life. He brought up his awful daily living cycle, his awful family, his awful violin experience, and his awful situation. He did it all with a violent tone and an angry expression. Alvis wanted to simply bottle everything he was feeling all up again like he had for all of these years, but sadly the bottle was full. Alvis got mad for the first time in his life as he charged at his shadow as if to deny his existence. He started off by swinging a punch, but that was all he ever got to do. The double disposed of him with little to no effort. All that was left was the shadow of himself that he tried to deny.
After Alvis' shadow became the new Alvis, the young man stuck around the dreary little town for a bit. Rather than bottling everything that bothered him, he left out his anger in the form of inhuman strength. Anything that pissed him off would soon been crushed by him. Eventually the man realized something about everything that he destroyed. One way or another, humans ended up pissing him off. Throughout his life, he had never met a single person that he considered decent. This formed the basis for his utter hatred of humanity. That was why once his hometown fell, he simply moved on.
The man traveled around for a considerable amount of time, never really sticking to one place that he liked. The man found things that he did enjoy, thankfully. He finally found hobbies. But he could never find anywhere that he liked enough to simply stick around. And so began a long journey of moving around, trying to keep calm, and quite a few instances of inevitable fights. It wasn't as if the man was just violent. He was a considerably decent person. The only real issue was his temper that he simply couldn't control. The man wandered for nearly seven years with no end in sight.
His long, rage-filled journey eventually led to Mosaic city, purely out of coincidence. The first thing he didn't expect was for the city to be locked down, causing him to be stuck within the city. But the second thing that he hadn't expected was to meet other shadows here. Specifically, another seemingly older shadow. Being able to sense one another, the two eventually met and discussed various things. Alvis didn't particularly like him. However, he didn't hate him either. At the very least, the man seemed okay, which was something that Alvis had never felt before. He had met someone that didn't drive him into rage. This other man would later introduce himself to be Soren Jensen.
Now, being trapped in the city, Alvis was at a loss for where to go now. That was when Soren had offered him a job as the head waiter of a teashop that he was opening up. Normally, Alvis would have refused outright, calling him an idiot or something derogatory. Instead, he took him up on the offer. His change of heart? It was simply has lack of direction. Though, he did enjoy his tea quite a bit. And hey, this guy didn't seem too bad. He started off by helping a bit with construction himself. It was an easy feat given his ridiculous strength. But when that was all said and done, he was given a few sets of waiter uniforms and was put to work. Surprisingly, he did rather well for a hot-head. Though, that may have been because the teahouse only served shadows. Anyone else was simply kicked out. Which, leads us to the man's other duty at the teahouse. He also gets to act as the "bouncer" for the place. Some human wants to get in? They have to get through him. This of course, usually leads to someone getting thrown a few blocks down the way. But overall, the man began to adjust to his new lifestyle up until current day. If one were to ask how he feels about his current lifestyle, he would simply answer, "content."
