Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
Again with the art gallery. Brynhild scanned the area hoping to recognize some of the paintings. Confident that this was in fact the same room as before, she searched deeper for the previously broken pottery. Dozens of shards of clay were piled up near one of the corners. Each piece had stayed in the back of her mind ever since she had left last time. Forgetting to clean up her mistake had bothered the android for days, so she returned to take care of it. Getting in to a fight afterward would make this a business trip. How could anyone complain about her wasting time if she still got some practice done.
In any case she had to bring her weapon to walk over here. Just walking without any support was fine, if the distance was short enough. Knowing how violent this part of town could get, avoiding any monsters on the way here would tire her out. Leaning against the wall she started cleaning. Maybe Brynhild could finish before any shadows arrived to bother her. Not likely.
Of course as soon as Brynhild said this the shadow arrived. Placing the trash bag on the ground, she looked back at. . . it? Them? Were both halves going to attack on their own or together? Did killing one defeat the other or—no, no, stop. This is why thinking about things would get her killed.
Shadow Twins had not moved an inch. Given her injury Bryn had no intention of running over there. She took a few steps closer and hoped the enemy would do most of the work. Nope. The stupid thing did not even pay attention to her. It should be taking advantage of the situation, but no. The idiot could not even take a free shot. Frustration slowly built up. Soon it wouldn't even be necessary to struggle the rest of the way. “If you wait too long,” she taunted, “I'll just kill you from here.”
Talking at least got it to turn and face her. Both bodies wriggled awkwardly and let out a bright flash of light. Out of instinct she covered her eyes from the brightness. Artificial skin on her body started turning red, as if she got a really bad sunburn. The shadow laughed as she bumped into a pillar and fell over. Embarrassment was easily replaced by rage.
“Cut them down already.”
Berserker, with all his invisible prowess, slashed at the Twins. All anyone actually saw was the shadow getting knocked into the wall. Channeling her Persona before they recovered, an icy halberd quickly struck the shadow before fading away just as fast. Now standing closer to the monster, Brynhild held her spear with both hands and drove it into their torso. Each twin clawed at her arms, which weakened her grip. Before letting go her Persona managed to drive an ice pick into the same spot. The shadow dissolved into purple fog and disappeared.
