There was a slight chortle that managed to escape Takeda's lips at the mention of actually attempting to dial up the half of the number that he had found. Hell, for a moment or two he contemplated as to whether or not the strange woman at the scrapyard had left it up as a way to get in touch, but that was highly doubtful...probably fruitless too, he had never seen her face. Could be worth it...? Nah, nah, it wouldn't. At the same time as he was thinking this, Seiji had begun speaking to him about what his school life was like. There was something sad in the way that Seiji worded his school experience, perhaps in the remarks that he had no girlfriend, or just the underlying tone of it...Takeda could seriously tell. Now, typically he wasn't the sort to console others, or try to give some uplifting speech, but something about it just stuck him where he could feel sorry for Seiji. Takeda had taken solace in school, loved the hell out it in his teenage years, especially knowing that freedom was right around the bend. With Seiji, it didn't seem to be the same, mostly due to the fact that the teen was forced into school not long before the quarantine was put into action, which of course, was a totally legitimate excuse to not exactly have the time of your life. However, Takeda knew Seiji was just as curious as he was about the outer circle, but the exploration of the place was cutting into his social life, not to mention his development. The kid needed a break, and Takeda...well, Takeda supposed for once, that maybe he should pick up a bit more of the slack. They didn't have to like each other, or even consider each other brothers, but hell, everyone needs a bit of R&R now and then.
Waiting a moment for the right time to say something to Seiji, Takeda stood up and motioned for him to follow, of course after leaving a tip so that some teenager didn't end up being the one to jack off into his onion rings next time he showed up. Walking outside and into the cool breeze that seemed to be flowing through the streets, he propped his back up against the wall and looked forwards, keeping the usual expressionless face on. Once Seiji stepped outside, no doubt, he already knew what to say, and when he did come out, Takeda slipped into Japanese again. "I was thinking about heading out into no-man's land myself once in a while. I gotta get one sick day, right? Anyway...you told me once that you ran up to that old office building. Reckon I could go scout things out while you go do your shit. Just don't lift anything from the store that anyone will notice missing, okay?" Takeda had a roundabout way of showing his half-brother that he didn't hate him. The two were practically strangers living in the same house, and were expected by their mother to get along as if they knew each other their whole lives. Takeda wasn't going to be an open book, and neither was Seiji...hell, with the way things were going, it seemed pretty obvious that things would stay that way for a while. But, Takeda felt for Seiji for once, since the anger phase had slowly withered away months ago, realized that it was important for them both to keep morale up, look for people...hell, there was a time that Takeda was a stranger in this town, and adapting hadn't been easy for him either.
With a few moments having passed, he looked around, knowing that he had no cigarette to smoke, nothing to help him chew the scenery for a bit whilst waiting for Seiji to say something, before he spoke about non pressing issues, hoping to get off the subject. "Now...as for those burgers, that's because you're part American. You'll eat anything so long as it's chock full of more artificial ingredients than anti-freeze." With that, he separated himself from the wall and moved towards the sidewalk, speaking back to him, "Keep up, I wanna get home sometime today."
