Name: Adriel Sorano
Age: Was only eight years old when she became Shadow, which was a little over a year and a half ago. So...nine and a half overall.
Date of Birth: February 10
Birthplace: somewhere in America
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Asexual; though she does enjoy the company of females a little more than males, she doesn't really give any thought to romance or sex, what with her still (more or less) being a child.
Face Claim: Maria Ushiromiya from Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Appearance:
Height: 4'8"
Distinguishing Features: None worth noting
Class: Shadow
Arcana: Justice
Occupation: n/a
Weapons: When fighting in her human form and murdering shitty parents, Adriel's weapon of choice is a 14-inch butcher knife, which she regularly cleans and sharpens to keep its edge from getting dull. When she reverts to her Shadow form, she uses her own natural claws instead, which are retractable and hidden under black gloves. However, they're also razor-sharp. In either case, her normal attacks do Slash damage.
Personality: Due to her tendency to murder anyone she deems to be a horrible parent in cold blood, Adriel is a somewhat complicated girl to figure out. Even as a Shadow, she is a pure and innocent girl. Of course, "pure" does not always mean "good", and her innocence makes the things she does that much worse. Because of it, she genuinely believes that she is doing children a favor by murdering their parents, and is often confused and upset whenever said children run away from her screaming in terror after she has "saved" them. She remains blissfully unaware that these children will likely be traumatized for the rest of their lives, and she can't grasp why anyone would condemn her actions as anything but noble.
As long as someone doesn't mistreat their children or try to directly interfere with what she's doing, they'll have nothing to fear from this girl. Normally, she's very polite and courteous to those she interacts with, and she can be very sweet and friendly when someone catches her in a good mood. Of course, being a Shadow, she can be a little creepy at times, such as her complete and utter lack of sympathy for the suffering of others, not to mention how casual she is regarding subjects like death and murder. Especially noticeable is her belief that " all bad people should die" and that simply arresting criminals is a waste of time. Granted, that's not all that surprising considering she herself is a serial murderer.
As one can probably guess by now, while she is surprisingly friendly and, for the most part, bares no ill will toward humanity as a whole, the one thing she cannot tolerate is abusive and/or neglectful parents. After all, she suffered greatly because of her father constantly being too busy to pay any attention to her. Her hatred of him grew so intense that, even after she finally took his revenge on him, she wasn't satisfied. Even the slightest hints of parental abuse/neglect serves as a major berserk button for Adriel, sparking a vicious and murderous rage within the girl that won't be quelled unless either her suspicions are proven false or (far more likely) she has personally seen to it that the parent(s) in question answer for their sins with their blood.
Additionally, should someone directly interfere with her work, she will show them no mercy, though she will lament that she has to kill them if they have (in her eyes) done nothing wrong. Other than that, as long as they didn't antagonize her and try to stop her from her misguided attempts at justice, she didn't care what anyone did. Hell, for all she'd care, they could be just as much of a twisted monster as she is. If they left her alone, she'd leave them alone. It's as simple as that. When it's all said and done, regardless of how dark and twisted she is due to her being a Shadow, one thing remains perfectly clear. She still has the mentality of a child (and it shows), and while she is far from evil, her twisted sense of justice makes her every every bit as dangerous as she would be if she was just some insane sociopath.

History: Even before she became a Shadow, Adriel's life wasn't exactly the most pleasant. Her mother was very loving and took great care in raising her, so she was never necessarily unhappy. However, most of her issues stemmed from dealing with her father. He was a fairly infamous politician who, while few could deny that he was both successful and influential, also had some extremely controversial views that made him extremely unpopular. Thanks to some excellent damage control by his staff, his family never got caught in the crossfire, but, at the same time, he was always busy with his works, and it was rare that he was ever around long enough to give either Adriel or her mother so much as the time of day.
Of course, this wasn't to say that he didn't care about his wife and daughter. He rarely let it show, but he loved the both of them deeply. Unfortunately, he always felt that he needed to put his career first, and, in doing so, consumed virtually all of his free time. Even on the rare occasion that he was home for more than a few hours at a time, he was constantly busy with something related to work, so Adriel's attempts to bond with her father were virtually guaranteed to fail. As such, Adriel grew up believing that her father hated her for some reason. Despite her mother's continuous attempts to reassure her that this was not the case, his behavior toward her (i.e. barely acknowledging that she exists) made her feel otherwise.
This all culminated into an incident that basically destroyed the family. As mentioned above, Adriel's father was not very popular. In fact, his controversial views made him quite a few enemies, though few were ever brave enough to actually try and pull anything. However, one small group did. One afternoon, while Adriel was walking home from school, members of this group took matters into their own hands and abducted her off of the street. Hours later, the Sorano household received a phone call, during which her father was given a simple choice; he pays them five million dollars in cash AND step down from his position in politics, and maybe they'll consider returning his daughter to in one piece.
Adriel did make an attempt to escape when she thought she saw an opening, but it merely resulted in her getting easily caught, savagely beaten, then literally thrown into a closet with the door locked. Adriel sat there in total darkness, shivering uncontrollably with fear. The only thin that was on her mind was a single question; why hasn't her father saved her yet? An hour went by, and eventually, Adriel heard a voice. She couldn't see who it came from, nor did she question where this person was. However, the voice made her a seemingly simple offer. If she let the "voice" use her body, she'll help her get out of here so she can see her family again. Though she had no idea what the voice meant by "letting it use her body", she agreed.
Of course, there was two minor details that the voice conveniently left out. 1) It would be using her body permanently, and 2) Adriel herself was going to die as a result. And indeed, her last memory as a human girl was a sudden sharp pain as a pair of claws appeared from seemingly out of nowhere and impaled her through the chest. From there, the Shadow who approached her entered her body. Once it had fully taken over, Adriel's memories and that of the shadows fused together, resulting in the dark twisted little girl that she is to this day. The first thing she did was break away from her captors, mercilessly slaughtering anyone who tried to stop her a second time. By the end of the day, all of her kidnappers were either dead or driven insane with fear.
Then, she decided to pay a visit to her home. Due to the Shadow's influence, all of the bitterness Adriel felt towards her father shifted into a deep rage. Thus, even as he tearfully hugged her out of relief when she showed up at their door step, all she could think about was getting revenge for all the times he basically ignored her. Thus, the first chance she got, she went into the kitchen and grabbed a fairly high-quality butcher knife her mother had bought not long, then proceeded to mercilessly hack away at her father as all of her bottled-up rage was instantly vented. She chose to spare her mother, who watched as her husband was mercilessly mutilated by their daughter, since she had actually treated her with love and care.
Then, she left home, leaving her father dead and her mother so deeply traumatized that she would be haunted by what she witnessed for the rest of her life. As time went on, she simply wandered from place to place, having found a calling in hunting down abusive and/or neglectful parents and brutally slaying them. It was a thankless job, and she didn't understand why no one seemed grateful for her deeds, but she didn't care. Eventually, she found herself in Mosaic City. Though she didn't plan to stay for long, soon after she arrived, the city was quarantined by the so-called "military". Being a Shadow herself, it took her all of two seconds to realize what was really going on, and it intrigued her enough that she decided to stick around. Besides, with a city as huge as Mosaic, there was certainly no shortage of horrible parents to bring to justice. Might as well do what she can to make the city a "better" place.
