Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Anna continued to hum to herself as she wandered through the library. It was pretty much aimless wandering, with no purpose aside from running into shadows. Shadows came, occasionally, but not as frequently as she would have liked. As hard as it was to deal with multiple enemies at once, Anna sometimes wished that she got the chance to just wipe out half of an infestation in one go. And then she remembered why that was a bad idea and moved on.
Still, she thought, it would be an interesting change of pace. The library got pretty boring when it was quiet. She'd tried looking through some of the books, but the lack of sci-fi in any of the sections she checked was disappointing. So fighting was all there really was at the moment.
Sure enough, a shadow did show up around then. One...single shadow. Formless little blob of a Maya, with a very smug-looking mask. Practically nothing. Well, if it wanted to be smug, Anna was going to make sure she one-shot it. Thunderbird appeared above her at her call, and a wave of energy washed over the battlefield, dropping the defense of the all of one enemy below. The Maya, meanwhile, raised its hands and...called for a friend.
Oh.
A second Maya appeared from behind a bookshelf, taking up a position next to the first. "Well now, this could be fun. Y'all mind doing that a bit more?" Anna asked, hefting her shotgun umbrella off her shoulder and firing at one of them. The slug connected with the blob of a shadow, but did nothing to it. Well then...that worked. One of the two shadows did as asked, and summoned a third Maya to the scene. The other repeated Anna's first action, lowering her defensive ability with a wave of some kind of energy.
"Just one more, will ya? Or five more, doesn't matter much," Anna said, focusing her mind to charge up. Electricity crackled violently around Thunderbird's body, and the clouds began growing in size. A storm was brewing. Again, the Mayas summoned more, this time adding two to their number, while the arrival from the last round sent a wave of cutting energy at Anna. Despite her reduced resilience, Anna took the hit in style, and rolled with it to literally roll to a bookshelf and start climbing it. she jumped from there onto Thunderbird's back and took off. From her new vantage point high over the field, Anna finally made her move. The storm brewing around Thunderbird grew rapidly in size to quickly engulf the battlefield. Heavy winds blew across it, drawing all of the summoned shadows, including the original, into a center point. Over that point, a funnel cloud formed, stretched down, and touched the ground as a tornado. The tornado shredded through the muck of shadows, tearing them apart and flinging their remains into everything still standing (and not standing, in the case of quite a few nearby bookshelves) in the area.
As the winds subsided, Anna guided Thunderbird back to the ground, to find that the carnage she had blown onto the field was much more widespread than her last several battles. "Ahh, good," she said, surveying it. "I'm finally almost back in shape."
