He didn't want to help his father because he didn't like the clothes. It seemed rather selfish but she understood the sentiment. Minako wasn't too fond of certain styles and tried to avoid them whenever possible. She didn't like shirts that were really short or most dresses. Kimonos were fine for New Years but she didn't see the point in wearing them any other time. They were so cumbersome to put on. It was important to feel comfortable when wearing clothes. However, she would wear a dress for her mother's sake. When she was younger, she did ballet because that type of thing made her mother happy. When she got older, she was encouraged to do something that made Minako happy and ballet wasn't it at all. It was important to be a good, helpful child.
"I guess you could ask for something less tight? But I supposed you've asked?" she said as she glanced back at him.
The boy explained his relationship further. It didn't sound fun at all and it just made her frown. If her parents completely ignored her, Mina was sure she would have been unhappy. Her parents weren't on top of her growing up, but they were always around. Her mother was around more than her father, but the three had still managed to eat dinner together almost every night.
"That sounds rather... sad. And your mom?" she questioned. Her father seemed to be useless in the kitchen just like she was. And if she was a normal eight year old, then she imagined the boy's mom cooked for him all the time just like her mother did. It was her mother that made her breakfast and sometimes homemade lunch boxes. Her mother mad dinner too. The woman did a lot of things for her family and Minako was really grateful for that. "My dad works a lot, but I still see him every day. I think I'd be really sad if I didn't get to see him. But I guess it's different for you." He was a boy and really tough looking. Boys like that weren't emotional like her.
