Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Tenchi was dragging ass. He had heavy bags under his eyes as he trucked along the sidewalk and headed toward home. He had been out all night and it was nearly four in the morning. It wasn’t abnormal for him to be out all night up to the early mornings. It was common actually but he never really had no reason to be out. He never really did anything except for wandering from place to place. He just simply couldn’t sleep some nights so he took a walk.
He rolled his shoulders and yawned loudly before he pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. He still had quite some distance before he would reach home so it was safer to smoke now rather than run the risk of his old man running into him. ”Well… this was ‘nother wasted night.” He commented before he leaned his back to the side of a building. The soft glow of the burning ember only lit up the tip of his nose, lips, and shined in his eyes. He took another deep inhale and gave a sharp cough. He rubbed his nose, ”Shit… better not be gettin’ sick. I’mma be pissed otherwise.”

It was another school day and it meant another lovely four in the morning rising. Like usual, the teenage girl slipped into her running clothes before heading out. Last night, it hadn't rained. The air was still damp since Mosaic City was close to the ocean. It was sad she lived so far inline that she couldn't smell the ocean's warm salty breeze from here. It made her want to go to the beach this weekend to do some nice training there. It was really good for balance to run on the sand, so it was a good idea. Maybe Yuki would come...
It was a nice long sprint through the sleeping residential area. Nobody was ever around when she took off and most people were still at home when she got back to her house. The girl made sure to keep her breaths normal like usual as she concentrated on every little aspect of her body. Her legs were moving in perfect harmony and her arms moved about easily. There was no strange aches or pains.
She was making good time until she took a sharp right and ran straight into someone. The girl immediate bounced back against the human wall and fell to the ground. "Ouch, ouch, ouch!" she shouted as she landed backwards and immediately felt pain in her leg. "I'm, ouch, sorry, ouch," she apologized before looking at the person she ran into. It was him? Whatever his name was...

Tenchi was built like a wall compared to most people because most people were much smaller than him and not built up like he was. He had muscle, size, and weight to his advantage when he’s attacked so a tiny girl running into him after blaring down the street. The impact simply made him stumble back a step and almost made him cough out his half burned cigarette. His sights danced around for the attacker only to find a familiar girl laid out flat on her ass and in pain.
He arched a brow at her. What the hell was she doing out so… oh that’s right, if he recalled correctly she ran this early. ”Uh… maybe y’should wear a headlamp or sumthin’ when y’running.” He reached down and grabbed her arm with the intention of helping her up.
”Hey look? What the shit is he doing now?” Tenchi paused and turned his gaze as four figures approached. ”Ain’t that Lui? Yo! Asshole, what do you think you’re doing with that girl?”
”Piss off, ain’t none y’business.” For that matter, he wasn’t doing anything. He turned his sights back on the girl, ”And wouldya stop makin’ fuss. Can’t be that” Before he realized what happened, he found himself knocked on his ass and his jaw suddenly felt sore. Worse yet, his cigarette had been ruined. Great, just what he needed this early in the morning, to deal with assholes.

He suggested a headlamp but that was completely illogical. Why would anyone were a headlamp when running. It would completely throw off her balance as well since her head would weight way more than usual and she would have to hold her back to keep the weight from tipping her forward. "No," she replied sharply. "I wear the reflective bands so cars know there's a runner out for safety. The streets aren't that dark." She probably needed to take corners slower or something if there was going to be large men in the way.
He extended a hand to help her and she grabbed it. The moment she got back to her feet, her leg surged with pain! "No, ouch!" she whined. She couldn't afford to get hurt. Being injured meant she couldn't go running for a bit now! She didn't like having to take time off from her routine. It was a miserable feeling to do absolutely nothing.
Her thoughts were interrupted as the boy fell to the ground behind her and four guys started laughing. He really was more interesting looking than her and strange people did come looking to fight him. He was so weird. One of the guys looked at her then pulled her into his chest. "Hey, she's kinda cute. Lui, you wouldn't mind if we have some fun with your girlfriend?"
"I'm not his girlfriend or anyone else's," she replied normally, not grasping the whole situation. "Also, I can't go have fun. I need to go and have my leg looked at. So let go."

”Let’s go? I think she said let’s go.” One of the men said.
’That’s what I heard too. Sounds like she wants to come with us.”
Tenchi felt the front of his jacket pulled as he was forced to come face to face with one of the other men, ”What do you think asshole, what did you hear?”
The blonde grimaced, ”Hear this.” He jerked his head forward and smashed his forehead into the man’s nose hard enough that the man reeled back with a howl of pain and clutching at his bleeding nose. Tenchi pushed himself up to his feet and two of the other men shoved him back against the wall, one of them landing a punch to his stomach. Tench grabbed one of the men and tossed him off to the side and off balance before he caught another fist to the chin. It didn’t stop him from throw his own fist at the attacker’s nose and follow it up with a solid kick to the chest.
”Why don’t y’assholes jus’ go back to y’damn shanties so y’can take the damn skirts off and put on some pants like real men.” His insult sounded confusing even to him but he was too tired to come up with a better threat. The man that he head butted earlier charged him along with the other two while the forth kept his hold on the girl. Tenchi made a quick decision and sprang forward and charged his shoulder down into the original attacker and throwing him back and off his feet. He turned on his heel, ducked one punch, took a kick to one of his legs, but he countered with a quick kick to one guy’s groin (Tenchi wasn’t against fighting dirty) and he picked up the other man who was relatively smaller, right over his leg and charged forward, ”Time to put trash where it belongs.” He said before stuffing the man face first into a half full (or is that half empty?) garbage can on the street.
The original attacker started to get up and Tenchi ran over and punted him in the face to send him back on the ground. He turned his sights toward the girl and the forth male who, up to this point, had been a non-combatant, ”Well asshole, how ‘bout you? Y’gonna do sumthin or be a pansy and run?” He tossed the girl forward and ran for it. That’s what he thought would happen. He sniffed as he felt something drip from his nose and wiped the back of his hands at his nostrils as he bled. In his mind, the jerks were lucky he was tired or they never would have gotten those lucky punches in. The other three were collecting themselves and Tenchi crossed his arms and waited to see if they would try something or just run off.

She watched the violent exchange with several winces. She didn't like fighting but it clear that blonde boy did since he was smiling during the whole time. He was also being really loud. Guys liked the oddest things she supposed. She liked things like tennis, cake, and sewing. Violence didn't go along with any of them. But the rough boy beat up three of the four boys. The fourth one held her tightly for a bit before shoving her into the familiar boy's chest. Minako yelped as she stumbled on her bruised leg.
"He picked the run option," she explained riddled in pain.
The girl collapsed back on the ground as she felt a little relieved to finally have pressure off her leg. Her ankle was clearly sprained from her tumble and being held up on her feet and forced to stand on it didn't help her at all. "Thank you," she said to the boy who had technically saved her even though it was against everything he stood for last time they me. The girl groaned in pain as her ankle kept throbbing in pain. She was going to have to wrap it up then head home.
The girl slowly rose up. "Well, have a good morning," she told him before limping off in the direction the boys had ran off. There was a drug store about a block away and it was twenty-four hours. She just needed to get some bandages there and after she fixed herself up she could go home.
The three remaining men managed to get on their feet and take off running. He lifted a brow at them before turning his attention to the girl only to be told to have a good morning before she started to walk away with considerable trouble with her one leg. ”Are y’stupid or sumthin or jus’ stubborn?” He questioned heavily annoyed after she walked a short distance. He wiped his nose with the sleeve of his coat before crossing the distance that was between them and grabbed her arm, ”Y’friggin walkin’ on a screwed up ankle. S’not good for it. For someone so hell bent on trainin’ an’ should know ‘bout health and crap, y’pretty stupid about it.”
Ugh… except she didn’t really have much other option. He also didn’t want to just friggin abandon her with those creep wads still lurking around. Even though he thrashed them that didn’t mean they wouldn’t try going after her again. Not to mention the fact that she wouldn’t be able to run away from them with how screwed up her ankle looked. Common sense would have been to ask for help but she just wanted to walk off.
IF he recalled correctly, there was a pharmacy nearby but that meant he would end up leaving her behind while he got crap for her. Which would be the perfect time for those ass-hats to reappear. Maybe he should have broken their legs when he had the chance. ”A’right, gotta plan.” He announced before he picked her up and hefted her up onto his shoulder. ”There’s a pharmacy nearby. See if they got crap there or not.”

"Neither?" she answered him. She didn't feel stupid at all. She usually didn't act ignorant except on matters she knew absolutely nothing about. Still, she wasn't stupid and she wasn't really that stubborn. She was open minded in her own little way. She kept walking to the point where he came over and grabbed her roughly. The teenage girl whimpered loudly as he fussed at her. She wasn't build to be treated so roughly by so many people. Her leg already hurt so he didn't need to hurt her arm.
He let go and she rubbed her arm then started to limp away. Minako got all of two steps away before her body was lifted in the air and tossed over his shoulder like luggage. The teenage girl just blinked as he walked away, claiming there was a pharmacy close by. "Yes, I was going there. I was going to buy bandages and a compress for my leg," she explained as he marched along. This was rather awkward, but she supposed it would have been worse if she was in her uniform since a skirt would have shown her legs way too much in this position. Right now, she just felt like a sack of potatoes.
"Why are you carrying me," she asked confused. "I can walk just fine."
”Good, y’can buy them then.” He said roughly as he locked his hand firmly on her back as she hung loosely from his shoulder. He was happy to find that she wasn’t trying to wiggle out of his hold like a moron and just accepted the treatment for what it was. He was trying to help her after all. She didn’t seem to know what the hell those guys were talking about back there when they told her that she’d be going with them. He shook his head. The girl was naïve as all hell and he wasn’t going to fill in the blanks for her, it wasn’t his place.
”’I can walk just fine.’” Tenchi made a poor attempt at mimicking her voice but when he tried to speak in a higher pitch his voice instead sounded like a person suffering from throat cancer. ”Clearly not with the way y’was bitchin’ ‘bout bein’ hurt. Or how y’were limpin’ like y’had a broken leg or sumthin’. ‘Sides, you shouldn’t be walkin’ on a sprained ankle anyway. S’posed to keep weight off of it.” The pharmacy came into view and it was one that was opened for all hours. Quite convenient actually so he walked through the front doors with her still hefted up on his shoulder. They probably didn’t look all that great, well.. he probably didn’t look all that great to he people working in the pharmacy. He had bruising forming on his jaw, his nose had stopped bleeding but he smeared blood on his face from wiping at it, and he was carrying some girl on his shoulder like he had stolen her.

"I'm aware of the proper advised treatment of a sprained ankle, but after the pharmacy I will need to get home. And then I will have to go to school too. I can't just be carried everywhere," she explained to him. He was doing something nice and she understood that. He was helping her get to a place without her having to be hurt while walking at such a slow speed. His walking pace was much faster than her limping one. It was just all going to end up with them parting ways and the girl limping home.
He came into the pharmacy she felt the world stop to stare at the odd couple. She laid over his shoulder as he asked her to point him in the correct direction. "Aisle four will have medical needs," she answered. He walked down the aisle then stopped. "Okay, place me down so I can get the right items, please," she asked politely. The boy did, thankfully. She looked around then grabbed the cotton bandages and some pain cream. She looked at the boy then grabbed pills, disinfectant, and some cotton balls. "Here, you carry it and I'll pay," she suggested. The boy went to the register and placed the items down and the man seemed to look frightened.
"I don't want any trouble..."
"Neither do I? Can you please ring me up so I can pay so there is no trouble?" she asked confused. He did so and placed them all the bag before giving the boy his bag. Once again she was picked up and carried out of the store. She let him walk for awhile as she sat over his shoulder confused. "Shouldn't you let me put everything on before you drag me somewhere? Or maybe tell me where we're going?"
Pffft, like hell she couldn’t. When she got home her parents, like any parents that had some common sense, would just make her stay home or bring her to a doctor and likely tell her to stop running around in the early mornings like a moron so she couldn’t get hurt again. When he asked which aisle they needed to be in, she quickly gave the directions and he followed them to the T. He started look over the various shelves to see if he could spot what he thought she’d might need but she insisted that she be put down so she can grab the necessary items. Shrugging his shoulders, he placed her down on the floor, on her feet, and let her hobble about to collected the various items that she felt was needed.
She threw items at him and told him to carry them while she paid for the items. It seemed like an awful lot for a sprained ankle but he never really dealt with one before. If he ever got hurt to the point that it impared him, he usually took some pain meds and passed the hell out to sleep the pain away for the next few days. When he put the items on the counter the clerk looked frightened and told them that he didn’t want any trouble. Tenchi quirked a brow and was about to throw an insult at the man when the girl spoke up.
When everything was done and paid for, he swooped her back up onto his shoulder, grabbed the bag, and walked out the door much to his companions dismay. ”Uh… there’s a bench or sumthin’ ‘round here.”” He answered when she questioned where they were going. ”Plus, this is the way to y’place right? Sorta?” He had no idea but this had been the direction she had been running when she bumped into him so he had assumed. He got to a street corner and glanced down in the other direction, he spotted the beat up looking bench he had been thinking of. He quickly made his way over to the bench and deposited the girl down on it and dropped the bag on her lap.
”There, y’can wrap it or compress it or whatever y’were plannin’ to do.” He dog into his pockets until he found his pack of smokes. He pulled out a cigarette that was smashed and awkwardly bent after his pack had taken a hit during the fight. He lit up the cigarette the moment it went between his lips and took a long drag. It made up for the one the punks had cut him off from.
”Ya know, I told ya so.” He said after a moment, ’Didn’t I say y’could be jumped runnin’ ‘round here at this hour? Y’just lucky the assholes struck me first or I mighta just walked away.”

He had carried her a distance away and placed the girl on a bench so she could tend to herself. She suppose it was a smart idea. She wasn't sure if he understood what she planned to do with all the things she brought. Minako looked at him for a moment then down at her leg. She would deal with it later. She lifted her pants leg and kicked off her shoes and socks to put her bandages on. She had rubbed the pain cream on her ankle to make sure she could walk a little better. The cream made her leg tingle immediately. She pulled out the bandages and wrapped her leg tightly. She made sure it was secure before putting her sock and shoe back on. It felt odd but the pain cream was helping her notice the pain a little less.
"Alright, that's done," she said a little relieved. She couldn't possibly be happy about having her leg banged up but at least it was treated now. She looked at him as he stood there smoking. He proclaimed he would have walked away if they hadn't hit him first. She blinked as she looked over at him. "They weren't interested in me but you. They only became interested in me because they thought we were in a relationship." His reasoning was still flawed with it came to her, though she didn't expect him to suddenly think things like she did. He was the one in denial about his health and how fighting solved problems. Those guy were probably upset and thinking about getting revenge.
"Okay, you're turn," she explained as she got up and tossed his cigarette away. The boy started complaining but she pushed him down onto bench before taking out the cotton balls to stop the bleeding on his nose. Other balls were sprayed with disinfectant as she cleaned the few cuts and bruises then bandaged them up. Once she was all finished, she offered him two pills. "This should take care of any body aches you might feel from the bawl. You shouldn't go fighting so much. Violence begets violence."

Tenchi pretty much ignored the girl while she took care of her ankle and just enjoyed his victory smoke that he had to put off. He considered carrying cigars; that way he could have a nice cigar after every fight he wins but he wasn’t sure if he liked the taste of them since he never had one before. He could hear the girl rummaging through supplies and working on whatever she was doing so he knew that she didn’t simply give him the slip while his back was turned. He minded his own business until she announced that she was done.
When she pointed out that they were more interested in him than her, he couldn’t resist the urge to roll his eyes, ”People… no… forget it. Whatever. ” He was going to argue the fact that she was being completely and utterly asinine in her statement because it was clear that they had big plans for her and had he just sat there and let them take her to do whatever the hell they thought about doing to her, she’d be harping a different tune. He didn’t have the energy or mental capacity to get continue the verbal debate. He already knew the girl was stubborn as much as he so he opted to simply be stubborn in silence and just brush away her statements. What the hell did he have to prove to her anyway?
He took a drag from his cigarette a moment before it was snatched out of his mouth and flicked off to the side ”Hey! The hell y’doin’?” He had completely zoned out moments prior and thus missed when she said it was his turn. So he didn’t know what the hell she had in mind when she pushed him down on the bench and started to shove cotton balls up his bleeding nose. ”Ow! That burns! The hell’s the matter with ya?” He said when she started to put disinfectant covered balls. He kept turning his face away every time she put her balls on his face. They were soft to the touch but they burned with the intensity of a thousand burning suns. He hadn’t had anyone fuss over his injuries since…
Well…
Never.
He felt incredible awkward. He wanted to push her away, grab her and shake her for causing the pain, and felt like running home to dive under his bed and hide in embarrassment all at one time. It was a… troubling feeling. He didn’t do confusing feelings well. "This should take care of any body aches you might feel from the bawl. You shouldn't go fighting so much. Violence begets violence." She stated as she held out two pills to him.
He lifted a brow at her, ”Feel fine. ‘Sides, I ain’t got water an’ I ain’t gonna just choke that shit down.” That and he still had plenty of adrenaline pumping through his veins or he was too tired to notice if he was hurting too much.
When she told him he shouldn’t fight so much, he rolled his eyes, ”Yes, cause layin’ there takin’ a beatin’ would be much better. Let me just put on a sign ‘round my neck that says ‘hey shitheads, free punches’”

"You don't swallow? It's not even a big..." she told him as she looked at the small tab. "Just open your mouth and don't think about what you're doing. It shouldn't make you gag."
If she knew he was going to be so difficult then Minako would have gotten the children pills since they were chewable. The tabs were just really small. She could swallow it without noticing it even without water. She supposed she could go back to the pharmacy and get him a drink but it seemed rather out of the way. He was such a weird boy. "You got hurt, your body will feel sore and ache once you're not running around. It's what happens, unfortunately." She was well versed in pain and how terrible it felt. This wasn't the first time she sprain her ankle. Minako had injured herself during matches a couple of times but could lay through them thanks to adrenaline. After the match was over, her body slowly noticed the pain.
He didn't like how she suggested him to turn the other cheek. Minako frowned then shook her head. "That's not what I'm saying!" she shouted as she shook her head. "You would be in much better condition if you avoided confrontation! I don't think you properly dress your wounds after each fight too since you didn't buy things at the store." It was all irresponsible. It must have been a boy thing to wish to fight all the time since she knew of other boys that did the same thing. Minako sighed as she shook her head. "While I don't think you're at fault over what happened, I do think you might be better off physically if you fought less. You should always think about your health."
She sat back down and looked at her leg. It was impossible to tell it was injured right now, and with all the things on her leg, she could go run. Minako knew better. "I need to train to become better at something I really like. As such, I run and weight lift and practice a lot. But right now, I will have to change my schedule because I can't run for awhile. If I push myself, my body will become more injured. It's similar to you, yet the thing you seem proud of inherently will leave you battered. I think you should get a new, safer hobby." She looked over at him with a serious expression. He probably didn't care what she said but she was just giving her own opinion.

I don’t need that crap. Get it away from me.” He waved the pills out of his face as she held them out and tried to force him to take it. He didn’t need medicine like that at the moment. Medicine made him drowsy as all hell and he was already tired. Even non-drowsy medicine made him drowsy. Besides, if he recalled correctly, you weren’t supposed to take any sort of medication on an empty stomach and he hadn’t eaten since… lunch. He’s read the warning labels on those bottles, he knows the crap that can happen to his intestines and stomach if he wasn’t careful. Medication was useful and everything but damn, he wasn’t stupid about it, he did it smart.
He felt his temple pulse as a headache began to flare. She wanted him to avoid confrontation with people? ”Do I look like I go waltzin’ ‘round lookin’ for god damn fights? Can I help it if there’s a bunch of pricks out there?” He threw his hands up in aggravation as he stood up from the bench; much to a similar reaction he had the first day they met and he walked off. ”I fuckin’ hide away in my damn studio most days to avoid comin’ out in this crap!” Yes he got into fights but most times he was defending himself verbally or physically. He didn’t just walk up to people and punch them in the face as a common greeting. When he notices someone has an issue with him, he tells them where they can stick their heads. They were judging no matter what the hell he did and they didn’t even know him. So screw them and the people and the world.
”Assholes…” He crossed his arms and bundled up his top half as he tapped his foot in aggravation. His nerves felt shot and he had just smoked a little bit earlier. He scanned the vicinity and spotted the glowing ember of the cigarette that she had taken away from him and tossed haphazardly away. He squatted down and picked it up again and since he felt it was still good as it hadn’t landed into anything unsanitary, he took a drag from it once more in hopes of calming his nerves. He barely got a full inhale in before he felt the cigarette plucked from his lips once more and stomped out,
”And you shouldn’t smoke. Smoking is bad.”
”Stop doing that!” If she wasn’t a girl, he would have punched her right then and there. Instead Tenchi did the next logical thing, he reached out and threw her onto his shoulder once more and started walking again. He didn’t even bother with any of the crap that might have been left behind on the bench. He was over it. ”Screw this crap, where the hell do y’live. I’mma drop your ass off, scream at your parents for raisin’ such an annoyance, go home and finally go the hell to sleep. Too late for this kind of shit.”
