Name: Jure "Ehekatl" Maze
Age: 28
Date of Birth: March 16th
Birthplace: Born and raised in Slovenia, but sent to Mosaic City
Gender: Female
Face Claim: Aozaki Touko, Kara no Kyoukai
Sexual Orientation: Doesn't care. Would that be pansexual?
Appearance:
Height: 5'8"
Distinguishing Features: Well-toned, has a tattoo of a robed angel with green hair on her back. The tattoo covers a good portion of her back.
Class: Persona-user
Arcana: Magician
Occupation: Teacher with tenure
Weapons and Proficiencies (Optional): When Jure was sent to Mosaic City with a specific sum of money to do as she pleased with (this also included... well, making a life for herself. But that's for her history) one of the first things she did was to learn how to defend herself. Since she firstly believed in pragmatics, she decided firstly to learn how to defend herself unarmed. Thus, she became somewhat well-versed in Wing Chun (Chinese martial art). Next, because she couldn't think of anything better at the time, she decided to train in the battou style of Nakamura-ryuu. However, Jure doesn't really want to keep bringing out the katana everywhere she goes, so she rather just not use it.
Personality: Jure is, first and foremost, a practical person, even if her typical, laid-back demeanor seems to betray this fact. However, a lot of things can mar this part of her image within people's minds - she can be lazy, she is unusually chill and relaxed when it comes to her educating duties, and finally, she can be a bit of a pottymouth when she feels like it. One could say that her demeanor and mindset was tempered by the circumstances of her teenaged life and how she came to cope with it - through the use of violence, street smarts, and cunning. So, what on earth would anyone see in Jure becoming an educator, a teacher, and one with a tenure track position, on the other hand? When she puts her mind down to it, she can be very methodical, and her explanations on relevant subject matter are unusually clear. Of course, that requires her to feel like it - Jure is the sort of person who only applies her full concentration and self to a given task if she is inspired to do so. Being required to do it just isn't enough.
On top of that, it appears that when she IS inspired, she undergoes somewhat of a strange instantaneous transformation - she's a lot more serious about things, she is a lot more dedicated to a cause, and on top of that, she's just not lazy about it anymore. She behaves exactly like how some college students would sometimes: party, party, party, but when an incoming deadline arrives, work, work, work, even if it means pulling out an all-nighter out of the rump. However, indeed, that requires Jure to feel like doing what she's tasked to do. Otherwise, she'll just continue with her seemingly lazy (but hardly sleazy) ways. In a way, this kind of personality is something of a gamble. Fortunately, when it comes to teaching, this kind of occurrence isn't rare. Due to how her parents treated her as a child and young adolescent, Jure feels she has an obligation to make sure young impressionable teenagers are taught to be responsible and hard-working, unlike her (or so she claims), using her lazy demeanor as an example NOT to follow rather than being a poor role model.
That she even lasted this long acting this way in a teaching position is probably indicative of her great discipline. She is able to control herself, and be asserting in a strange way that doesn't necessarily require her to snap out of her lazy, chill state. However, that laziness can be a great disadvantage sometimes - for example, don't expect her to turn up to a meeting on time, don't expect her to show up to a date on time, or don't expect her to promise you anything on a "next-day-deadline" because she'll probably leave it until a couple hours before it's due. This is why she can be kind of annoying sometimes - students will complain about their work not being graded, this is probably because Jure couldn't be bothered to grade it. That's not to say that Jure is a sloth, simply... She's simply tired.
Oh, and she's also a chain-smoker.

History: Jure Maze was born somewhere in Slovenia, her mother Maya was a college professor and her father Danil was a scientist investigating viruses and bacteria. As such, her parents had high expectations of her to follow in their footsteps. Due to their occupations, Jure's family was actually very well-off. They funded her education at prestigious places and gave her mentally taxing books at a young age, forcing her to perform at her utmost best... Academically, that is. However, due to Jure's strict schedule in the mornings and afternoons, she became increasingly rebellious. She wanted to experience the outside world in its "glory," and spent late nights sneaking out of her household to explore the sights her home offered. However, this act was eventually caught out by Maya when Jure had forgotten to lock the door before sneaking out of her bedroom window. When she was caught, Jure had no choice but to explain her dilemma.
The child, fourteen at the time, but already at an accelerated educational level, explained to her parents that while she appreciated the premier education she was getting, she felt empty inside - she had never experienced the simpler pleasures in life, and she really wanted to feel what it was like to be out in the streets or in the countryside enjoying oneself. Danil at the time was on a research partnership with some people in Mosaic City, so Danil and Maya both came up with a plan - they would give Jure an incredible sum of money, but they would also send her to Mosaic City alone, in order to... Experience life as she felt fit. Yes, Jure's parents literally dumped her in a distant city on the other side of the world simply because they wanted to punish her for risking her health to go out on adventures. So, the adventurer got punished by being sent on an adventure that they knew could get her killed. Moving to Mosaic City itself was not a problem - Jure had the funds and the knowhow to ensure she could survive... on paper.
She had turned fifteen that year. She said to herself... My parents sent me here thinking I would learn my lesson going off on my own... Thus, she became determined to prove them wrong and make something of her new life here in Mosaic City. First, she decided to scout out for housing. She knew she would be here a long time, so she looked for cheaper places. She would be alone for the most part, so smaller living quarters was acceptable for her. Once that was settled, she needed a way to defend herself against those who would wish to do her or anyone she might make friends with any harm. She took up Wing Chun at a Chinese dojo far away from her flat. She struggled at first, being mostly used to reading books, but her mentor and teacher at the time taught her that the smartest person was not only proficient in the sciences and with books, but also cunning and smart out on the streets. While she was training with her sifu, the latter had mentioned to her that sometimes making connections was the best way in life to get what you wanted.
Jure became inspired by her teacher. Being surrounded by excellent educators, Jure felt that it was only right that she became an educator herself. After settling herself, she applied for a scholarship at a certain place offering tertiary education, which allowed her to get the credentials needed to begin teaching. She had graduated in the top percentile on the year she was to turn twenty. In a sort of twisted coincidence, she had specialized in the sciences just like her father, though she focused more on physics and chemistry than her dad's biological focus. In the mean time, she set herself up with communicating with her parents who had seemingly estranged themselves from her. They were amazed she was still alive and in fact, were overjoyed to hear their daughter was able to potentially get a teaching position, teaching the sciences, in fact. Jure, feeling proud of herself, eventually applied for a teaching position at the Mosaic East Schooling Facility. She had gotten the position after some trial, only because she had just turned 21, and had to convince the probationary panel that she was fit for the job.
The system was a mess from the inside, Jure thought, but she had little care for how the system was. She simply wanted to ensure her students to learn from her own example - to drive your own way forth and to make something of your own life. Teaching the sciences gave Jure small and subtle ways to provoke her students to think. Over the years, her passion for teaching wavered, due to the influx of delinquents. She became disillusioned, and became the lazy, usually uninspired woman we know and see today. She was disappointed in the current generation of children, who seemed to enjoy playing video games more than actually reading books, they enjoyed it so much that Jure eventually forced herself to join in these video games in order to monitor the progress of her students. This further perpetuated her lazy behavior, as after some time, she eventually found herself liking it - This crap ain't so bad after all... - which made her popularity soar.
Cue to the sudden lockdown. Jure was concerned about the lockdown, of course. However, contact with her parents was suddenly eliminated. The military and police forces had rationalized the lockdown as a "radiation leak." However, anyone with even a remotely specialized knowledge in the sciences knows that just a "leak" wouldn't cause significant communications damage - it would only cause heavy biological damage. Jure suddenly felt inspired to take note of this lockdown. She knew that some of her students may either believe it like sheep, or they may also share her own sentiments and investigate it themselves. That's when she decided she should step in and do it herself - don't endanger the students. They're too young to go out and risk themselves in an accident.
Jure leaped past the boundaries of the police-taped terminal, rushing through the darkness of the tunnel. She knew SOMETHING was wrong. Something was drawing her there, to find out the truth. She had not taken notice of the evils lurking around her, waiting to strike. When she reached the end of the tunnel, there was no light. There was simply a purple sky, and a destroyed wasteland. Flabbergasted by this conclusion, she realized that the outside world had been terminated. In her sudden shock, she had failed to notice an evil apparition charged at her from behind. Heavily injured from the ambush, Jure brought herself to a standing position and did one of the most stupid things imaginable - attempt to take on an otherwordly, scientifically impossible creature with her bare hands. The shadowy creature looked to be bipedal, using its large claws as a support on front. It growled at Jure and lunged forth, and as the teacher attempted to defend herself, the creature grabbed her at her throat and attempted to crush her neck.
Tensing herself, Jure flailed and writhed in pain... My students... They still need me...! They need... They have to change... They need to know the truth! She wanted to live. In the verge of death, all she wanted was to tell her students how to become good people. She wanted people to change for the better. Come on... Not here... Not yet...! It almost felt like she was being hanged. However, as Jure feebly attempted to grab onto the shadow's claw to fight back, a strange sensation welled up inside the woman. Her arms and neck felt invigorated as a white light burst from... somewhere. The shadow flinched, letting her go. A red-skinned fairy in white appeared by Jure's side, giggling before flicking a ball of fire at the Shadow, causing it to flinch and run away, growling. Hua Po, the Chinese tree spirit, had materialized from Jure's will to live, to survive and to attempt to transform the situation from death to beautiful life. Looking straight ahead, Jure saw the faint outlines of her parents. They waved at her, and from the movement of their lips, Jure knew her parents wanted her to continue their legacy.
And then she went home and slept her ass off.
For the record, "Ehekatl" is the nickname she adopted from a game she was playing. She thought it sounded nice.
