Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Ever since his exploration of the mine the previous night, Desmond had felt he was on to something with the place. The shadows there were around his 'level' or 'paygrade' as he sometimes called it and the pay was certainly good for exploring there so he'd decided to head back. He still carried his grenades with him in case the shadows got a little antsy. Antsy was okay, Desmond liked antsy considering how out of practice he was with the whole shadow fighting thing. The last incident he'd been involved with had been the year before.
And boy were his skills getting sharp again quick. Returning from his self imposed exile from society had left him drained but out here in the shadowlands, he felt alive again. Dropping his pack off outside the mine again so that he didn't blow something vital up that'd get any other people like him in the area pissed at him before he was even properly introduced to 'em. Slinking down into the tunnels, he wandered off down the same passages as before as he searched for some more loot and another fun fight.

Before Desmond's eyes two shadows appeared from a strange sort of darkness that only seemed to rear its ugly head when there were shadows around. "Oh look, it's the lackies from the New York incident." He remarked with practiced bravado as he drew his evoker and fired away to summon his Persona. Before he could make a move, the vaguely human-esque relic opened its doors to reveal a black void as purple light swept over it and its ally. "Damn." He cursed, it was one of the boost skills. That was just great. There was no time for Merlin to attempt to detect the weakness of the enemies since there were two of them, so he compelled the wizard to launch a Garula at the relic and a Bufula at the idol. Both the idol and the relic seemed to laugh at him as the attacks had no effect whatsoever.
"Oh you've gotta be jipping me.' He muttered darkly upon realizing he'd used the exact two spells that wouldn't be effective against his opponents. A mad idea entered his head. "If they both nullify those types of spells...maybe...that'll work." Merlin raised his staff and sent a shower of flames flying towards the idol. It shrieked in pain and attempted to spin away on its spinny body. Merlin was having none of that and flew after the thing. Just moments before another Agilao hit it, a burst of green light filled the area and cured the Idol. "Dia? What's next, you gonna kick me in the groin to rub in this fight not being easy?"
The idols both turned their attention towards Desmond. The relic made the first move, keeping him in place and moving in one direction with Garula while the idol formed a massive block of ice towards where he was flying. The ice shattered and tore into his body. Luckily, the chainmail woven into his leather jacket kept the ice from actually cutting his skin. The ice generated by bufu attacks felt as jagged as glass. Merlin had taken the initiative during his 'rest' courtesy of the wind and was tearing into them both with barrages of magic attacks. Seeing that the relic was the bigger threat, he launched bolt after bolt of zionga at it until it finally fell to the ground inert.
That just left the big bad idol. Seeing the torrent of flames come its way, it trued to spin away but again found itself too slow. "Persona!" Desmond said with (perhaps too much) enthusiasm as the relic stopped spinning and fell to the ground as well. Once again, he'd won.

Nothing turned up in the aftermath of this battle. That was unfortunate, but given how common it was to wind up poisoned in the middle of a battle, the poison remedy he'd synthesized from the materials found in the aftermath of the last battle more than made up for that. Keeping Merlin close, he used his Persona's sense of direction to get him back up to the mine entrance.
Getting back up there, he looked at his watch and found that it wasn't too late. "Think I'm gonna get a pizza and catch a good flick...I'm beat." He said in a casual tone as he marched back towards the gap to fetch some money for the miscellaneous items gathered. Maybe someone would get his message and approach him wondering who the Wizard was and what he meant by the 'rabbit hole'. He could only hope, especially since he could probably talk the person into treating him to pizza.
