Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Desmond sure was getting used to the routine of exploring in Mosaic. Each incident went a different way, he found. Sometimes you'd kill a few shadows and the mysteries of the incident would spill out like they were nothing while other times, things proved a tough egg to crack. This was one such incident. For now, all he could really do was bide his time, kill some shadows, and hope he could facilitate some development in whoever he could find to help fight the shadow menace. Making his way to the mines in his signature trench coat to ward off the cold, Desmond breathed heavily, cool air floating around his face.
He'd left his pack outside the Mine and someone had stolen it. Just great...that meant he was all out of grenades for now. Just his bloody luck. Trekking deeper into the mines, he experimented with his smartphone to see if some functions would work or if it'd even properly function. Maybe some shadows would come to break up the doldrum of exploring an abandoned mine filled to the brim with creatures that would likely be more than happy to serve Desmond up for supper to their little shadow kiddies.

It wasn't too long before he sensed the presence of two shadows, two powerful shadows. Guess it was time for him to do his civic duty and murder the hell out of some bad guys. Rushing to their location, Desmond found a pair of Gigases. He seemed to run into a lot of these blasted things. There was a red one and a blue one. Desmond didn't like to think about his past cases too terribly often but he couldn't help but be reminded of the time he was paired with some young college freshman that was obsessed with anime like a lot of chubby teenaged white kids seemed to be.
"You don't get it, Doctor D. You're like...like the calm, collected one. A blue oni." "I'm a wizard, not some weird Japanese club demon." "That's not the point. I'm dangerous, wild, unpredictable..." "Only thing you're dangerous to is a shadow shaped like a hamburger." "You know, for a guy with a PhD, you're pretty ignorant."
That brought a smile to Desmond's face as he pointed a gun shaped object at his head and pulled the trigger. A weird laughy face was on Merlin's monitor as it pressed keys on its hand-computer. The shadows didn't yet attack him, instead buffing one another up. That was fine by him, it gave Merlin's scans more time to compute. Wave after wave of rolling green light spread through the stratum and Desmond's scans were soon complete. Huh...it was weird that the blue one was weak to the 'blue' element and the red one was likewise weak to the 'red' element. Both of the shadows were buffed up and ready to go...there was no time for him to bemoan the strange choices that the shadows made if they assigned their own weaknesses and strengths. The red one charged forward and Merlin pushed it back with a burst of harsh fire, burning the thing and making it groan despite its renewed defenses.
The blue one followed suit, trying to sneak around in the chaos of the red gigas's attack to pummel Desmond. The hole in his master plan was, simply put, his size. Merlin turned forty-five degrees and sent ice spikes shooting out of the ground. A single spike impaled the Gigas. The creature cried out in pain and tried desperately to free itself from the spikes of ice. With Blue temporarily out of the picture, it wasn't hard to return his attention to Red for a renewed assault of flame. He was juggling the two Gigases and keeping them apart. They wouldn't be effective if he kept this up. Barrage after barrage of agilao barely even registered as a strain on Desmond's spirit. The red gigas finally crumpled down to the floor and died right as the blue gigas freed itself from its icy spikes. Almost lazily, Merlin hit it with another round of bufula. And another, and another. Soon that other Gigas was dead, too. "That was pretty damn anticlimactic, don't you think Merlin?" He smiled as he looked back at his Persona.

The onis were dead, he couldn't find jack shit to use, and it was time for another trek back up to the surface. Well, after a little bit of exploring first. Merlin sensed something different about the place and he wanted to see what was up. Heading down below, he found the place where the barrier had cut him off when he explored this far into the cave last week. Cautiously but not overly so, Desmond banged his fist against where the barrier had been and found that it wasn't there. Eyes widening, he whistled. "Someone did some good damn work, here."
That was all he had to say about that. Making his way out of the cave after sensing that the presences below were above his paygrade, he got to the surface and breathed the fresh air. Ah, that sweet smell of freedom. For now, he rested up outside the entrance...maybe he'd go back down in a minute.
