Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Somewhat more confident after her last attempt at mapping the sewers, Chidori quickly went through her normal exploration preparation before she set out, slipping past the border with practised ease before descending into the subterranean tunnels that made up the sewer systems beneath the ruined half of the city. Consulting her map, the mute didn't take long to bypass the first area once again, heading into the deeper section with extreme caution - she was running into larger groups of shadows regularly now, and didn't want to let herself be surprised; if she could get the drop on them, she had a much better chance.
Stalking around underground and staying clear of the sewerage that ran through the middle by walking alongside the path edges, Chidori continued her laborious but methodical mapping process, fully intending on clearing this area and any that lay beyond it as well - who knew what secrets might be hidden beneath here. At the very least, her forays were strengthening her, and giving her the odd item to scavenge and sell off to the mysterious blonde woman. Still, there were times when she wondered if it was really helping the investigation at all. Those times were best left behind in the 'safe' side of Mosaic City though, as she drew on Lucia's steadying calmness whenever she explored.
Maybe she'd get lucky today, and only have to deal with a couple of shadows.

Or perhaps Lady Luck wanted to be a cruel, cruel mistress.
She could hear something up ahead in the tunnel she was traversing, and as such, she had slowed her pace to cautiously approach, hoping to get a peek at whatever it was before it could see her. Unfortunately, when she did round the corner and lay her eyes on it, the mute froze up, gaze locked on what was probably one of the biggest, sharpest and meanest-looking swords she had ever seen...and the wielder was some kind of samurai-esque shadow.
Unable to move or act, Chidori could only look on with fear as the shadow leisurely turned around in its patrol of the tunnel, spotting her with a look of zeal - or as much as a Shadow could look zealous anyway. A brief moment of fortune came in the guise of hesitation, as the Musha stalked towards her slowly, as if trying to figure out what she was before it made an actual move. Her ingrown fear of sharp edges had her rooted to the spot still, Lucia's gentle voice trying to break through the wall of terror. Chest heaving & limbs shaking, it took the brunette as much time as it did for the Musha to cross half the tunnel before her persona's influence finally had some effect, and she sprung into action, if albeit a bit shakily.
Mahama! Practically screaming the command within the confines of her mind, light blasted the approaching shadow, as Lucia enclosed Chidori in the usual protective bubble. Not that it would do much against such a fierce weapon. However, it seemed the cruel mistress of fate wasn't entirely without a heart - the shadow stumbled and fell to the ground from the enhanced Mahama, obviously weak to such attacks. Nevertheless, Chidori was still shaken by the mere sight of such a threat at close range, and failed to take advantage of the Musha's moment of recovery, allowing it the ample time it needed to get to its feet and close the distance between them, raising its sword before swinging with inhuman might, slash right across Lucia's torso.
The dress ripped from the attack, and searing pain lanced across Chidori's chest in parallel to where the blow had struck her persona. Now she was the one recoiling, and sent sprawling backwards, tears welling in her eyes as they widened from shock. As the Musha approached again, she began to hyperventilate, her body working in overdrive as her heart pounded away at a very unhealthy rate. Somewhere, deep in the back of her mind, Lucia (which really, was her voice of reason and stability essentially) urged her to focus, to put aside the irrational fear and fight - because if she didn't put up any resistance now, then her worst nightmare would come true.
If she could've made the noise, it was likely that a feral scream would have erupted from the mute, as she bounced to her feet in a frenzied craze, throwing the Musha off a little as it paused, unsure of what was going on. Not wasting any more time, Chidori began to weave magic at it again. And again. And again. A torrent of light simply melted the shadow, blasting it halfway back across the tunnel, knocked down and severely weakened. But the mute didn't let up in the brutal assault, chasing after it and hailing down even more Mahama's, right up until she saw it burst into smoky purple whispers, dispersing into nothingness.
Coming down from the frenzy, Chidori noticed the blood beginning to seep from her chest wound, and her panicked mind quickly urged her to heal herself continually until she had eradicated almost any evidence of a wound whatsoever. Finally, her body gave out from all the stress it had endured, the adrenaline that had been keeping it going now fully depleted. Slumping by the wall, her breathing grew soft, and the mute didn't take long to lose consciousness as she lay there, leaning upon the wall of a tunnel, completely vulnerable. Only waking after a good hour of darkness, Chidori opened her eyes and briefly wondered why she was sitting down here, in the sewers. Like the crack of a whip across her brain, the memories came back, and it took an incredible amount of effort to keep herself together, shaking once more from the memory of the battle. Not wanting to risk getting attacked again, Chidori didn't bother to continue mapping any longer, fleeing the tunnels as quickly as possible, her previously-building confidence well & truly shattered.
