Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Jaelyn did say it was exhausting, and mentioned getting attacked. Of course she could fight back, like the number of times she mentioned being good with a knife didn't already point to it. Sakuya was perfectly fine with that. "Interesting, huh? Well, I'm glad I could take you out for some proper food, then, because y'know, a balanced diet is a good way to keep one's self healthy in the face of adversity, ufufu..." Sakuya giggled. Sakuya spent some of the time living outside in the Shadowlands, so she knew all about what went on. If she knew Shadows were roaming about, she would simply change form and be ignored, be treated as one of them. Of course, sometimes she needed to lurk in the lands as a human. But that was not a very troublesome affair. Anyway, Jaelyn didn't need to know that particular detail. It would arouse heavy suspicion to start.
"Getting attacked often must suck. I'm happy a rose like yourself has its thorns. It must really be a lifesaver then, to be able to defend yourself."

Slightly off-putting giggle (not that Jaelyn could talk, given how she sounded when she laughed) aside, Sakuya mentioned being glad she was able to take her out for a decent meal. "Another reason I wish I could do this more often," Jaelyn said. "Whenever I do go out there, I end up spending the next couple days with next to no energy." Heh. Maybe at this rate, she could get Sakuya to take her out more often. An easy source of decent food aside, Jaelyn was already starting to get used to her presence. And she was rather good-looking, on top of that.
And from her, it was one compliment after another. While she had tried not to pay too much attention to them earlier, the one she said next was much harder to ignore. "You may be the first person I've heard say that's a good thing," Jaelyn answered, giving the girl a genuine, if still weak, smile. "It's a nice change from 'that's so creepy' or what have you."

So, Jaelyn often received the same kind of comments? Interesting. Seems that Sakuya and her did have some things in common. Sakuya also suspected that, judging from how accepting Jaelyn seemed to be of the situation, she may want to be taken out more. That was fine with Sakuya. It wasn't like she was going to be running out of work soon. People wanted people dead all the time. Jaelyn's smile was a little weak, but at least it wasn't a fake one. Sakuya could tell it was sincere. What a sweetheart. "It's a travesty that people could say such things about you," Sakuya sighed. "I'm sure it might make sense when people say those words to me, but saying those things to you? Nope. They're sorely mistaken!" Sakuya smiled softly as well. She didn't have a creep smile running up or anything anymore. Nope. Not one bit.
"Hmm... What do you plan to do after this dinner, by the by?"

"Well," Jaelyn said, her smile becoming just a little less weak, "I'm glad you think so at least." She didn't have much reason to doubt what Sakuya said. A professional killer, after all, wouldn't have much reason to be put off by Jaelyn's less than pleasant hobbies and instincts. Somehow, despite an earlier refusal to trust her, Jaelyn had ended up being more open with this girl than she usually was with anyone else. She hadn't spilled everything, but somewhere along the way she'd mentioned or at least hinted at an abnormal fondness for knives, her mother's past as a killer, and a natural inclination toward violence that she had managed to suppress over time. Sure, she didn't know about the incidents before Jaelyn had started successfully suppressing it, or the fact that she got a thrill out of seeing others in pain, but that was still more than she let on for anybody.
"After this?" she repeated in response to Sakuya's question. "I don't really know. I didn't have any plans for today. I don't really want to go back home yet, but I'm not sure what else to do."

Sakuya heaved a sigh of relief as she realized that Jaelyn was slowly becoming more open to her presence. She soon realized that, if she was going to try and keep steady with anyone at least, it was going to be this young lady right here. Something about her made Sakuya feel that she had to constantly be on her good side. Otherwise, gross things may happen and it may end disastrously for either of them. Sakuya definitely didn't want that happening. "Hmm... no plans, hmm? I was just wondering if you wouldn't have minded me tagging along for anything you would be interested in doing, that's all..." Sakuya smiled, trying hard not to shrug. "But you don't want to go home yet, hmm? It is getting a little late, though... Isn't it? Maybe we could come up with something relaxing?"

Jaelyn glanced down at her plate. She'd been eating steadily whenever Sakuya talked, but wasn't fully conscious of it. Rather, she had ended up focusing so much on what Sakuya was saying that she barely noticed the food, and so it was with some surprise that she noticed that she'd finished everything. Huh. That was fast. But maybe that was why Sakuya had brought up what she planned on doing next. "Well..." Jaelyn said, "I don't mind at all. But like I said, I didn't have anything planned." And meanwhile, Sakuya had mentioned coming up with something relaxing. That would be great, if it was true. Most of the time, whenever Jaelyn tried to do something relaxing, it didn't actually manage to relax her much.
Well, that or it involved lots of alcohol. The celebration that had followed the fight at the school had been decent enough, probably. She didn't actually remember anything that happened after a certain point though. Whether it involved alcohol or not though, Jaelyn was starting to warm up to the idea that anything she did with Sakuya would be preferable to doing it alone. "I think I'd like that," Jaelyn said. "Did you have anything in mind?"
Post by Sakuya Kyoudou on Feb 25, 2014 3:44:51 GMT -5
Sakuya nodded off, taking what Jaelyn said into account. Alright, so she really didn't know what to do. Well, Sakuya did insist on wanting to do something relaxing. She thought to herself for a moment. "Well, there are a bunch of things we could be doing after this," Sakuya said, tidying up her plate which by now was empty. "An evening walk out in the park? Or maybe you would like to see if there are any late-night movies? Or, perhaps, maybe you like to extend our stay here and get some drinks from that bar..." Sakuya pointed to the counter where there was indeed a bartender idly cleaning a glass. "Maybe I might have given you an idea of your own, I do not know... But, there are a couple of things we could be doing after this. They're all on me."
Sakuya nodded and looked almost certain to get the bill. She simply waited on Jaelyn's answer.

All good options. Jaelyn didn't have any idea what movies would be showing, just that she hadn't ever been to any since moving to Mosaic. She didn't even know what the theater was like. This made her curious, but the other options Sakuya had mentioned were just as appealing. The park would be empty around this time, and it wouldn't be nearly as bright and unpleasant as it usually was around midday. But then, alcohol was always good, especially when the drinks were on someone else.
Then again, with how well things were going so far, she wanted to be able to remember tonight. If the after-party on the night of the full moon was any indication, she probably wouldn't if she got too drunk. "A walk sounds nice," she said, finally.

The park was a very nice place around this time of the day. That said, Jaelyn seemed to be fine with the evening walk. Which was good, Sakuya enjoyed evening walks in the park too. Smiling, she hailed a waiter for the bill. As the two of them were basically the only people around at the time, it didn't take very long for it to arrive. Sakuya took out her purse and slapped exact amount, handing the bill back to the waiter with money attached. It wasn't very expensive, thankfully, as the pasta platter Jaelyn had ordered were actually a part of the budget meal series for the establishment. Actually, said series was one of the top reasons why it actually did very well in terms of business. Lots of traffic during lunch times.
Soon, Sakuya stood up and extended her hand towards Jaelyn. "Indeed. An evening walk to make this occasion one to remember~? Yes~?"

Soon enough, they were paid and ready to go. The lack of any sort of crowd meant that it took no time at all to get and pay the bill. Jaelyn caught a glimpse of it, noting that her own meal...wasn't actually all that expensive. Huh. If that was the case, then she could even come here on her own occasionally. Score yet another point for good things that had happened to her today. At this rate, there was bound to be something bad to balance it out eventually, but at the moment she didn't care. She was going to keep riding high for as long as she could. She had to make the most of it, after all.
She stood up as well, accepting Sakuya's hand without a second thought. "I think I'm already going to remember tonight for a long time," she said, smiling. "But yes. An evening walk will definitely seal it."

Sakuya smiled as Jaelyn accepted the hand outstretched to her without hesitation. Sakuya carefully moved Jaelyn's chair back and helped her up, just to be nice, even if she knew Jaelyn was perfectly capable of getting out of the seat herself. Mission success. she thought to herself as she gently led Jaelyn out of the establishment, making sure she left and went through the door first before Sakuya herself did. Soon enough, Sakuya found herself leading Jaelyn to the park that was actually fairly close by to the establishment. The night sky was very clear tonight, and it was dark enough that the only things illuminating the area were the park lampposts and the stars in the sky.
After some time, Sakuya wrapped an arm around Jaelyn's shoulder as they walked through the park. "Sometimes... It's nice just to have a gentle walk in a nice, quiet place... Just to forget about the harsh realities of the world. I hope I've helped you feel just a little bit better~"

Ahh, this was much better than the park ever was during the day. It was nice and chilly, and more importantly, there was a clear, dark sky overhead. None of the painful sunlight of midday, or the ominous purple clouds of the last full moon. Back home, she was never allowed out at night, and it had become such a habit that she only rarely did it now that she was on her own. Clearly, it was something she would have to do more often. It wasn't often that she managed to be soothed by anything, much less the atmosphere of a place, but the park at night seemed perfect for that.
For awhile, they just walked in silence. Then, Jaelyn felt Sakuya gently wrap her arm around her. She smiled again, readily accepting it and even leaning into her just a little. Surprisingly for someone with as many trust issues as Jaelyn, she didn't mind physical contact at all and in fact would sometimes actively seek it out. So the touch of someone she was starting to trust, just a little, was incredibly welcome. Sakuya then said something about forgetting harsh realities, and expressed a hope that she'd made Jaelyn feel better. As it happened, Jaelyn felt best when she was either able to exert power over someone or something else, or when she was too drunk to care about anything else. But tonight was starting to come very close. "More than a little bit. I usually only feel as good as I do right now when I'm falling over drunk," she answered, giving a small laugh. "Thanks again."
Post by Sakuya Kyoudou on Feb 25, 2014 5:08:57 GMT -5
Sakuya could feel Jaelyn lean a little into her, which made her smile and blush just a little. The little rose Sakuya had managed to befriend and get a little close to expressed her thanks and mentioned that she had felt good. "I'm very glad I was able to help soothe you. Isn't the sky beautiful right now?" Sakuya had asked, soon looking up and pointing at some of the stars that were lit. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like there were any recognizable constellations... Given Sakuya's interpretation of the recent events that occurred in Mosaic City, it was perfectly normal for someone familiar with the situation to expect that nothing recognizable would show up in the sky. But was that the same for the civilians who lived here? Would they ever know?
Sakuya made a wistful sigh, but it wasn't one for feeling bad. There was a tinge of contentment somewhere there. Jaelyn did mention that she usually only felt as well as she did at the moment when she was drunk. Interesting point. Sakuya kept that in mind - that she enjoyed drinking. To some degree. "Mmm. Maybe we can, perhaps, keep in contact with one another~?"

"Mmm, it really is," Jaelyn said, turning her gaze to the sky. It was a surprisingly different sky from what she was used to back home. Having lived in a small town, she remembered quite a few more stars being visible. And she didn't recognize any of the constellations. Or, at least, nothing that should have been visible at that time of year. But it still had its own beauty, especially when compared to the ominous clouded sky she remembered so clearly from the other night.
It seemed, from how she sighed, that Sakuya was content with how things had gone as well. She then asked if they could keep in contact. Ah...there it was again. The nagging little problem that Jaelyn never thought she would have again. "I don't have a cell phone, but...I think I can work something out," she said. Her room phone was...well, more and more, she kept wanting to get away from home, so it was unreliable at best. But it was something, at least, until she could buy a cell. In a rare feat of self-control, she hadn't managed to blow all the money she had been saving up for one, so hopefully that problem would solve itself soon. "I'd be happy to stay in contact though."
Post by Sakuya Kyoudou on Feb 25, 2014 6:56:27 GMT -5
It turned out that Jaelyn didn't have a cell phone. That would complicate things just a little. Yet, she assured Sakuya that there was a solution to the predicament, and that she could probably 'work something out.' That was fine with Sakuya. As long as she could keep in contact with Jaelyn, it didn't matter to her what the method was. "Alright. I understand," Sakuya nodded. Soon, Sakuya had guided Jaelyn to a bench in an unconvered part of the park, to which she sat both of them down on it, making the stars in the sky seem that much more prominent as the night sky seemed to impose its brilliance down on the pair. "As long as there's a way for us to keep in touch with each other, then the method shouldn't really matter much, right~?" Sakuya smiled.
