Haru walked alongside the railroad tracks with her arms folded over her chest, Shiranui shuffling along in front of her, head dipped so that he could sniff at the ground. The girl tried to be as patient as possible, but she was no Saint. Her shoulders sagged as she let out an annoyed groan, "Haven't you picked up their scent already? You're supposed to be a dog, right? Dogs are good at tracking, right? So just find my sister already!" Shiranui glanced back over his shoulder and gave her a sullen look, his eyes digging into her as if to say 'Are you stupid?' The girl clicked her tongue and kicked a pebble at the wolf, although it went wide by a good three feet- intentionally. Even if she was frustrated, she didn't want to actually hurt him. She knew that she was asking the impossible of him, but still... she couldn't just do nothing. Her sister was in this godforsaken city, and she had to find her before something terrible happened. 

The wolf suddenly started to growl deeply, which caused Haru to raise her arms in front of her chest out of instinct, "H-Hey, wait a second...!" She thought he was upset about the pebble, but then she noticed that he had already turned away from her, focusing on the darkness of the tunnel in front of them and dipping low to the ground, as if ready to pounce. "Not more monsters..." At least the ninja girl had enough sense to unsheathe her blade and hold it in front of her at the ready, waiting for whatever it was that Shiranui had sensed to show itself.

Three slime-esque monsters shambled out of the darkness, twisting and throbbing unnaturally as they dragged their grotesque forms ever closer. Haru tightened her grip on her sword... only to jump in surprise when Shiranui suddenly sprinted forward, headbutting the Gravy Maya as hard as he could manage. The force of the blow knocked the pair of them back into the darkness, obscuring their forms and preventing Haru from providing support. But she had more important things to worry about, now that she stood alone against two more of the monsters. Following the wolf's example, Haru dashed forward and quickly hacked through the nearest monster with a left-right diagonal slash, the Butter Maya, bisecting it with her blade. Her sword little resistance, clanging against the ground once it left the creature's body. The Maya simply made a soft, unamused gurgling sound as it drew it's arm back and hit Haru in the chest with enough force that it sent her toppling over, falling on her rear a few feet away from the Maya. "Ow..."

However, she didn't have time to think about it. The second Maya in the group of attackers raised it's arm for the first time and energy began to gather around it's fingers as it prepared an attack. Haru quickly rolled back into a backflip and landed on her feet just as a beam of light struck the ground where she'd just been sitting. She muttered a curse under her breath and raised her sword again. Why was her attack ineffective? They weren't invulnerable since Shiranui seemingly injured one... that is it! The mask had to be their weak point. The girl grit her teeth and dashed in for another attack. The Butter Maya raised both hands as sparks were emitted from it's fingers, preparing an attack. Haru dipped down to channel strength to her legs before leaping as high as she could manage, just as a lance of lightning scorched the air underneath her. The force of her jump carried her to the monster itself, letting her turn her sword downward to stab it into the Maya's mask from above. It let out another pained gurgle as the mask cracked  and then shattered as the slime lost it's form, reverting into a useless blob of fluid. "Gotcha...!"

Haru's victory was short lived. No sooner had she slayed the monster as the other attacked yet again, knocking her away from her sword with another beam of light. She slammed into the ground and let out a pained cry, clutching at her left shoulder. The remaining Maya slowly started to move towards her, but... "A-Agi!". No sooner than she had spoken a fireball to brighten the darkness and slam into the smile from the side, setting it ablaze. The Maya flailed slowly, patting itself as if to be rid of the fire. Shiranui leap out of the darkness and landed beside Haru's sword, between her and the monster, and judging from the amount of grime sticking to his coat, she assumed that he had been victorious in his own battle. The fire had started to fade away, but the wolf wasn't about to let the opening go to waste. It quickly snatched up the blade, grabbing the hilt in his mouth before dashing forward and slashing through the Maya, cleanly splitting it's mask in two. With the threat gone, Shiranui returned to his Mistress's side, dropping the blade so that she could return it to it's sheathe, still rubbing her injured shoulder, "Jeez... you're no joke, Shira."

Haru let out a soft sigh as the wolf faded away, his work complete. She knew it was true- there was nothing more to be done today. It was depressing to think that she was giving up on finding Tsuki, but she'd be back eventually. For now, she had to at least wait until her arm healed. Whatever ability that slime monster had access to was killer. The girl stood up and patted the dust off her clothes before heading back down the subway tunnel, whistling quietly to herself as her mind clouded over with thoughts of her older sister.
