Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
DJ sighed softly, he always did love coming to the beach. It was a nice serene spot to meditate and calm himself as he watched the waves move by. The beach always brought him peace even though he tended to like winter months better than summer, you could always bundle up more but there was only so much you could take off before people started looking at you funny and he didn't like exposing that much anyway unless he had to. That was why he had a simple but summery outfit on, a light white shirt and a windbreaker with some long black shorts to cover him up for a nice walk along the beach to get his head on straight. He smiled softly and looked off into the coastline.
As he turned back inward he spotted someone else on the beach which was a bit unusual for this time but he didn't pay it too much mind. His introverted nature told him to leave them alone to their thoughts but he supposed he should try to socialize and reach out more, as long as he could keep his emotions in check at least. He looked over the red-haired girl and began to approach her, cautiously as not to startle her or anything. "H-Hello there..." He said nervously but tried to stay calm, he was always a bit skittish around girls. "What brings you to the beach at this time of day?" He asked, trying to sound both cool and friendly at the same time, shifting a bit where he stood.
DJ tucked a strand of white hair behind his ear and glanced out towards the ocean as the woman answered him, nodding softly. "Yeah pretty much the same thing, coming out here helps me get my head together I guess..." He shrugged lightly as he watched the waves roll by. He often tried to find things that would help center him and keep a lid on himself and stick with them, anything to keep his darker emotions hidden away. He kicked the sand gently before glancing back to the other woman again, adjusting the strap on his backpack as well as the waves crept forward.
He shivered a bit, it may have been odd to come to the beach in shorts in winter but it never felt right for him to be all bundled up at the shore. Besides, despite his exposed skin the shorts were relatively thick and his light jacket kept him warm enough most of the time, he didn't seem affected by the cold most of the time, which was ironic given his newfound powers. "It's always nice to find someone else who likes the beach." He smiled softly as he glanced towards the woman. "I'm DJ Mcloud by the way, nice to meet you." He extended a hand towards her gently.
DJ smiled softly as she shook his hand back, chuckling lightly. He was relieved to see that she was friendly as well, that would make this process somewhat easier on him at least. He watched as she turned her attention back towards the waves and he directed himself that way as well, closing his eyes and allowing for some brief meditation with the soft soothing sounds of the waves coming forth. He smiled softly once he centered himself and turned back to her softly, glancing her over. She was rather pretty he supposed but he didn't find himself getting too nervous like usual when he talked to pretty girls.
"Nice to meet you too Ms. Isolde." He smiled brightly and nodded softly. He sat there for a moment and let his mind soak up the atmosphere as the light coastal wind swept past him. He turned to his new acquaintance again and smirked gently. "So what did you have planned to do after this?" He asked before glancing around. It was beginning to get late and the few people that were there during the winter months were starting to pack up. While he wasn't too chilly right now he wasn't sure how cozy he would be once night fell.
DJ nodded softly as he listened to the woman's plan. It reminded him that he still had to go shopping in a bit and put together dinner for himself. It had taken some getting used to in order to be able to live on his own and take care of everything himself but he eventually got used to it and even grew to like it. It would be even more difficult to get used to life with the shadows and his new Persona, but he would have to adapt similarly either way. Even with supernatural things life was just a game of adapting to change as it came.
Still it was hard being on his own sometimes. That was what inspired him to try and get out of the city, he wanted to see his family again. He looked out to the waves with a soft smile. "When my family lived here I used to take my sister to this beach all the time. It's nice to be here with someone again." He smiled, getting lost in his memories a bit. He rubbed the back of his head and chuckled nervously. "Sorry about that, just a bit of nostalgia I suppose." He laughed lightly.
"It's all right. I used to think of taking my little sister to the beach too if she hadn't injured herself in an accident." she responded with a smile. She wondered how her sister was doing. Her sister hadn't been able to contact her for one year that she had been exiled. Perhaps, they could meet again when she returned home and had started a revolution to remove her grandfather from power. It was certain that DJ had a little sister that he loved very much. It was like the same for her too as she loved her sister, but was too afraid to cause her harm again. She was sure that her sister would forget about it, though. And even if she did, she'll never forget that painful memory that caused her to be somewhat traumatized, though it was just one arm broken.
"I see... well maybe you still can one day." DJ smiled softly, picking up a shell from the sand and looking it over for a moment introspectively. He had a good relationship with his sister though now they were separated, he didn't know the details of what happened to the other woman's sibling but he imagined they had it quite a bit rougher than they did. Still, as much as he wanted to see his sister again he could only imagine the desire was that much more earnest in this woman because of the rough times she had obviously seen with her siblings.
He toyed with the shell in his hand a bit more, feeling it scrape across his palm gently before tossing it back into the water with a gentle throw. "Little siblings can be rough to protect sometimes, but I guess that's our job as the elders." He shrugged softly. He was more unsure about what he was going to do to protect himself and the city at this point. Things were getting more and more complicated the more he learned about this place and all the stress was making it harder for him to keep a lid on himself, however for now he maintained his serene expression with a soft sigh as he looked out on the waves.
DJ nodded softly, looking out onto the ocean horizon as the waves rolled by and it began to slowly get darker out. He wasn't sure when he would go home exactly but he needed some fresh air right now to clear his head somewhat at least. Hopefully things would make more sense once he understood more about this business with the city and these weird shadows and his own powers. He sighed softly, thinking it over, he had found some people in the outer circle who facilitated some businesses for scavenging and gave him a bit more info on what was going on but he still had so many questions.
Aside from casual venders that gave him the low-down on the situation he didn't know anyone else who knew about the situation outside the city, though he knew there had to be others. Maybe once he could find someone more experienced and gain some more experience himself he could get some training done and get better at it, like his internship at the newspaper except with less newspaper and more magic and monsters. He wondered what kind of strange world he had gotten himself into. He sighed and looked towards his new friend again. "Sorry about that, just got a lot on my mind lately." He chuckled softly and rubbed the back of his head nervously.
DJ blinked, not moving much as he treated with woman next to him with some measure of hesitation and temperance now. What had she called it? An outer circle? Most people didn't know that there was anything or anyone going in and out of the barricaded area. He'd heard some people in the Gap talking about the areas like a circle, but how would she know about it? This woman now knew something about him that she should have no way of knowing even if she was someone like him who could leave the city and fight the monsters outside the area.
"W-What are you talking about...?" He twitched a bit, looking at her carefully. It wasn't that hard to believe that she might know the truth about what was going on, he knew there were others besides himself though those that knew were a vast minority to those that believed the lives. The real problem was how she knew he knew himself. He didn't like people he hadn't met before knowing that much about him. "A-Are you spying on me...?" He asked rather plainly, trying to figure out just what this woman was up to and what was going on here.
"I wasn't spying on you or anything, DJ. I simply just knew about the outer circle." she responded. It was clear that he had not known about the outer circle since she sensed that he was newly awakened. It reminded her of a certain young man she met that had his powers newly awakened too. She had known several more others who had their Personas newly awakened too. Perhaps, it was part of her intuition to strengthen the bonds of those who fight to escape the city. Come to think of it, there were other Persona-users she hadn't met yet that were just new to the outer circle. Perhaps, she could tell them what she knew about it. It could help clear up the confusion felt by those who are not sure what to do. There were many things that new Persona-users might not understand, so those subjects could be clarified.
"B-But... how did you know I knew?" He asked, still quite confused by the whole situation. This girl seemed to have some sort of unnerving sixth sense about her, that wasn't anything like any of the other people he'd seen that had weird powers around here, then again his experience was limited, but still he thought he'd have heard about something like that. He sighed in resignation and shook his head, this whole new world was strange to him and though the other woman was behaving oddly he supposed he couldn't fault her for it when it was his own lack of knowledge that fueled his paranoia.
"I suppose it doesn't matter how you know..." He sighed again and shook his head once more. "So you know all about the outside of the city, huh?" He asked and shrugged, supposing that if she hadn't done anything before now she didn't mean him any harm. "I... I just found out not too long ago, I've been out there maybe three times." He shrugged softly. "It's weird but it has to be done I suppose. Like I said I want to see my sister again." He kept his cool but looked up at her with somewhat despondent eyes in his slumped position.
DJ nodded softly, that was his main motivation for wanting to get out of the circle. Part of him had a morbid curiosity of how far he could go with this new magic and how strong he could get but as far as focused goals went his family came before self-discovery. "I do." He admitted with a soft nod. "I imagine a lot of people want to get back to their families. We can live well enough here in the city but it sucks being cut off like that. Plus those that know can't exactly sit idly by and wait to see what happens with those... things out there." He shivered lightly.
"It feels better to try and fight at least. Plus a weird part of me feels good about getting stronger..." It helped him vent pent up rage as well that he couldn't dare release around anyone else after what happened at school before. "Don't worry though, with all these people trying out there I'm sure something will happen soon. At least we can hope so..." He sighed softly, leaning back and looking at the sky as it began to darken and stars were beginning to appear, night was getting closer and closer now.
"I know that feeling. I want to bring peace to the city as much as possible. I don't want those things to disturb the harmony that the city has here." she responded. She assumed that those "things" he mentioned were the Shadows they fought. There was going to be bloodshed everywhere if those Shadows were not destroyed once and for all. Families could be lost and despair would once again take over the city as thousands of people begin to panic. That was their job to slay the Shadows and protect their families from being lost in the pages of history. Sometimes, there were be books that she would read that had an entire family die out because of other reasons. Probably because they had disagreed with the family's reasonings or something. Either way, she and her brother had shared the same belief that the family comes first for the betterment of their safety. The night was beginning to get closer as she remembered seeing the stars with her sister when they were little.
DJ continued to look up at the stars as he glanced over at his new acquaintance. She seemed lost in her own thoughts for the moment like he was so he decided not to go and interrupt her for fear of disturbing her. He shivered softly, he had dressed lightly for the beach since it didn't feel right to be covered up. However while he dressed in enough layers to be alright during the day now that night was beginning to fall the beach winds were beginning to give him a bit of a chill. He wasn't sure when he was going to head home but this reflection had been good for him to center himself at least.
He looked back towards the other woman and nodded softly. This was his first meeting with someone up close and personal that also knew about the problems outside the city, that was good for his mental health as well. "Thanks, it feels good to know that there are others who agree. It's nice to not feel alone, you know?" He chuckled softly, giving another small shiver as the wind passed by him again. He looked out to the sea, seeing the emerging stars twinkle softly in the reflection of the waves, smiling lightly at the pretty sight.
"It is quite nice to have an understanding friend like you. I think we can get along just fine." she responded with a smile. She thought that it was nice that DJ had cared about the city and his family altogether. It was almost like they were starting to become good friends. She had never met someone like DJ before, but it was all good. She had met different Persona-users with different Personas, some who were of the same appearance, but with different colors. It was a bit strange that two certain Persona-users had knights as their Personas, but it could be symbolic with different philosophies. It did actually occur to her that DJ would've had the same arcana as her which was a good thing in itself. She assumed that he wanted to protect the city and bring peace to the world too.
"Yeah, it's always nice to make friends." DJ smiled softly and nodded to her. This was their first meeting so he'd keep it reserved and wouldn't go too far into jumping into the friendship train but he acknowledged that this was a pleasant experience. She seemed nice enough and it was relaxing at least to know someone else who was going through the same things he was with Personas and shadows and such, even if they had their own additional different problems to deal with. He shrugged lightly, it wasn't much but it was a start and it was a small load off his mind at least which was always good for his emotional stability.
"Yeah I suppose all we can do is try to protect people as best we can." He shrugged again. "No use worrying too much over it." He responded in his cool nonchalant manner. Speaking of cool despite using ice magic he was now getting rather chilly as nighttime fell. He was generally pretty alright about cold temperatures which was why his Persona fit him so well but now this wind was giving him mild discomfort. He smiled and nodded, looking to his new acquaintance with some confidence again.
