Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Gin didn't like the loud noises here, but the arcade had a wide range of games for him to enjoy. As such, he came here at least weekly. Not only that, but this had started to become a good source of food. However, this wasn't the time. He wasn't hungry.
He considered leaving due to this. He looked in his pockets and saw that he was running low on funds anyway. Well... That's reason two... He got up. Still, he wanted to stay. Sighing, he reluctantly walked out the arcade. However, he didn't stray far from the entrance. In case he got hungry. Or bored.

Sakuya stretched and shook her body for a little bit as she had worked up a bit of a sweat on the dancing game machines at the Arcade, and suddenly she sniffed the area a little bit. She sighed. Another one of us is nearby she thought inwardly to herself, before beginning to leave the premises. As she started leaving the arcade, she saw a kid, a boy, looking conflicted. Sakuya noticed he didn't have very much in his pockets. And he looked bored. He seemed like he really wanted in. Sakuya sighed again and went close by.
She cleared her throat within the presence of the fellow Shadow and spoke, her usual human tone taking a slightly more grim, venomous twist. Hey there, knave, she said. What's a shade like yourself doing standing by the entrance to the Arcade? Too poor for a game or two, hot shot?

Gin looked around. He had felt another one like him around, but he didn't pay much thought to it. At least, not until the other spoke to him. With a small smirk and emotionless eyes, he decided that it wouldn't do to not respond. "What am I doing, miss? Well, I started to run low on funds. I figured a bit of time away would do some good. Not only that, but I could get peckish. No sense straying far."
He noticed that the other shadow hadn't said her name, so he tried to be polite and introduce himself. "I'm Gin. You are?"

Sakuya hadn't even bothered looking at the boy who called himself 'Gin.' "Sakuya." she introduced herself with simply her name, before cracking her knuckles. Low on funds, huh. What did you blow it all on? she said, looking down on the ground. If Gin had been a regular human, she wouldn't even have given a damn about them. Men and boys were the same to her, not worth their time. However, Shadows were... different. Sakuya knew that Shadows simply assumed the form of their host, so even if they were, at heart, a distinct gender or sex, it would be harder to mess with them. It was a matter of self-preservation more than anything else. Heh. The needs of the human body are truly mystifying at times. Peckish... What do you even do to earn money?

Gin was surprised that the conversation had lasted this long. Most other shadows weren't this wordy. Still, pleasant surprises appear from time to time. "Sakuya, huh? That's a neat name. As for what I spent my money on, it was at the arcade. And what do I do to earn money?" He thought of this for a moment. He received money from the school just for being on the roster, and he earned extra cash by looting. Be it houses, corpses, it didn't matter to him. As long as he isn't bored.
He looked to Sakuya. "I earn it by... certain ways that really aren't all that grand. But if you don't mind me asking, what are you doing at the arcade?"

Gin had complimented Sakuya on her name. Well, whatever. At least he wasn't being rude. That was already a plus. Still, the girl was weary of this boy, even if he was a shadow. Soon, he said he had spent his money on games at the arcade. And then answered the girl's query by saying he did things that weren't really 'all that grand.' Well, it probably was something similar to either not doing anything, or on the realm of Sakuya's job as a hired killer. Soon, he asked her what she was doing at the Arcade, as if it wasn't already obvious. "I just finished my daily session of playing at the dance machines," Sakuya said. You have to keep your reflexes in top shape, kiddo. The dance games are a good way of testing how fast you can read and react accordingly.

Gin looked at Sakuya. She didn't come across as too horribly rude, but he could tell that she didn't care much for the conversation. I wonder why... Still, he didn't put too much thought into it. He was considering what she had said. "A way to test your reflexes, huh? I figured battle would be the only reliable way to test them, but..."
Gin checked his pockets. He had just enough money to play one of the dance games, yet those didn't entertain him as well as the other games. He had just enough for a run on one of the classic games as well. But it was one or the other. Sighing, he started to walk towards the entrance. "I'd check what you say, but... It's one or the other, and dancing just isn't my style." He doubted the other shadow would understand.

Sakuya shrugged as she finally turned her attention to Gin, who said that he believed only battle was the most reliable way to test them. How barbaric. Surely, while both men and women could think that way, it was typically considered to be a masculine thought. Meh. How fitting. Of course dancing wouldn't be your style, knave. Is fighting and plundering what you're all about? Fair enough. I won't ask. Sakuya said, continuing to follow Gin with her own gaze. Do what you want. I don't really care. I only caught a vague interest in you because you were a fellow Shadow Sakuya sighed once more.

Knowing that he wasn't making a good impression, Gin tried to correct himself. "What I mean is, you won't really know how good your reflexes are until your life depends on them. Fighting is just the most common way to have your life hinge on them for us." He doubted that what he said changed anything, but he did hope that she understood his viewpoint better.
When she said that she didn't care what he did, he didn't really care either. "The needs of the mind come before the needs of the body. At least, that's hat this guy felt." He didn't doubt his hosts beliefs, either.

Sakuya sighed. I'd rather things not have to come to risking my life just to assess my skill and proficiency in something Sakuya only bothered to humor the kid because, as she thought, he was a Shadow. The needs of the mind come before the needs of the body? Sure. That's one way to put things she heaved out, stretching. "I can sort of respect the need to unleash violence on some things, though, given I do it quite a bit. Just... that I have specific targets. Targets that humans request of me to deal with." she fidgeted, trying her hardest not to lash out again. The kid so far hadn't offended her. That was a good sign of things to come.

Gin looked at Sakuya as she fidgeted. "Is something the matter? Anything I can help with? Are you all right?" He doubted he could, but he felt a bit of concern. Not only could he tell that something was bothering the other shadow, but he could also tell that she would have no regret about killing him if it were to occur. As such, he backed away as he asked his questions. "As for what you mean, would you mind clarifying? It almost seems as if you are a bounty hunter. And while I can understand, some others wouldn't really look well upon that."
He walked forward a bit, not stepping far enough that he would intrude upon boundaries. "If you do mean bounty hunter, would you mind explaining why? Other than monetary reasons, of course. I can understand that. It's just... You don't seem to be the sort to just do it for cash."

Sakuya sighed. He was starting to get really finicky and the like. She ignored him when he asked if something was wrong. If she answered, he would probably get offended, and that was the last thing she wanted. I'm aware. It's the burden of living as the death dealer of humans. Humans want other humans dead. They don't want to do it themselves, so I do it for them. Not everybody enjoys an assassin. Sakuya said. Why do I do it? Aside from the money? I only target men. I only target criminal men. They've done things to me that I cannot forgive. Sakuya was obviously hinting to her original form. If this Gin didn't get it, then she would have no choice but to leave him alone.

Even if she ignored his question, Gin was starting to understand what was going on. Not well enough that he would have a complete theory, but well enough that he had a broad idea. After what she said, he doubted that anyone would be able to not understand what she meant.
"I assume you mean before you gained your host? Wait, stupid question. If it had happened after, you would have had the strength to fight them off." Gin surmised that the same reason that she targeted men was possibly the same reason that the shadow was able to gain the human form. "Sakuya... I'm sorry about what happened. Nobody should go through something like that."

Sakuya sighed and continued looking away from Gin. Some words coming from a guy like you. Hmph. I can give you props for attempting to understand. Even if you probably do not. Sakuya sighed and looked wistfully ahead. "There's not a lot left to say between the two of us, Mister Gin. Pray tell if we ever see each other again, it'll be on business terms. I don't usually get friendly with guys. Male humans are more in risk of being seriously hurt. Shadows like yourself... Eh. Depends. You seem well enough. Just don't get in my way and you'll be fine. It's for both our sakes." she continued.

Gin sighed. Well, at least she didn't call you pig. That would have been problematic. She had said that he "seemed well enough." So his social interactions were getting better. His first few attempts at interacting weren't good. They weren't good at all.
With a wry smile (even though he knew she couldn't see it), he started to speak. "Both of our sakes, huh? I can respect that. Well," he started as he turned away. "It was nice to meet another Shadow. Especially a sociable enough one such as yourself. Good day, madam."
He started to walk off towards the arcade, going at a brisk enough pace to be seen as actually going there but slow enough that he would be able to hear if Sakuya said anything to him.
