Name: Crux (Unit #011)
Age: Four Years Physically; Sixteen Years in Appearance
Date of Birth: July 25th
Birthplace: Location of Assembly Unknown.
Gender: Designed as a Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual (primarily...)
Face Claim: Mukami Azusa from Diabolik Lovers ~Haunted Dark Bridal~
Appearance:
Height: 5 feet, 6 inches.
Distinguishing Features: Bandages cover every inch of his body underneath his clothing. These are meant to cover the gaps left in his black-colored frame. His eyes constantly portray agony on close examination.
Class: Anti-Shadow Weapon
Arcana: XVIII - The Moon
Occupation: A student from some other school that just so happened to make it into the city because of some far-fetched reason.
Weapons and Proficiencies (Optional): Addicted to the 'rush' that comes from fighting an enemy from up close, he was installed a retractable blade into each of his arms. These babies deal Slash-type damage.
Personality:
Crux absolutely hates himself. He regards himself as the lesser when put in the middle of a crowd, especially highlighting qualities that the others are superior to him. As well, he does not respond to compliments like normal people do. He feels that there is nothing that is good about him, and that the only reason he continues to exist is because of the duty that was laid out in front of him. Therefore, any word meant to make him appear in a more positive light is ignored, albeit with silence. This sometimes enables others to think that he is excessively humble. Nobody close to him (ie. the people who made him) seems to know how he could have developed such a negative opinion about himself. The most accurate guess to the reason is that he has become overly aware of his purpose and self. It is possible that he recognizes himself as nothing more than a robot who does not deserve the humanity given to him. Crux would go ahead and kill himself at this point,
That does not mean that he dislikes connecting with people. He enjoys the company of others, appreciating the colorful personalities of the city. He compares Mosaic City to a field of flowers, grouped up together in bunches. These sorts of metaphors are common in his mind, aligning with his almost obsessive interest in philosophy. Each human seems to have its own philosophy worth one or two entire volumes when put in terms of books. He would like to learn as much as he can, looking to see if the variety has an end to it. Are humans truly infinite in every way that exists, or is there a singular aspect that all have that is exactly alike? If he is really interested by a human, there would be no limits to what Crux would do to learn more. Truly, he is jealous of the humans. He wishes he was one so that he could be free from the bounds of duty, living his meaning of 'life'. The android wants to be 'someone', not 'something'. These desires conflict with his want to destroy himself, which would also be another method of achieving 'freedom'.
In a combat situation against Shadows, Crux resolves to keep his emotions away from the battle. It usually fails; he loves getting up close and personal against his natural enemies, enjoying that mysterious cocktail of fear, pride, bloodthirst, and anger. Let his blades be the baton, and let the cries of his opponents be the sounds of playing instruments. When fighting, there is no plan. He simply lets what he feels conduct his movements and actions. These feelings are exclusive to being inside of combat. Outside, he isn't so eager to bleed someone out... which is good when appearances are put to the test.

History: [REDACTED] finished development of Unit #011 of the Anti-Shadow Weapon series on 25th of July after multiple combat trials with other units. He was created to be rather standard, being a basic unit installed with a Plume of Dusk. The size apparently varied between units, but his was somewhat larger than what was considered to be the average. Therefore, he emerged with a personality at a faster rate than what was expected. However, he was judged by the scientists to be too silent. When they asked him questions meant to see his emotional progress, he refused to answer. He appeared to be absorbed into his own thoughts, and he apparently preferred isolation. Not once did he speak during this period of time.
It is difficult to recall what he was thinking about, but what he does remember were fragments. Most of them ranged from the very mundane to the very self-reflective. In one minute, he reminisced, the unit shifted from thinking about the condition of the double doors to the reason why he had a soul. These culminated into complete awareness of being 'alive'. It's just that he was trapped in this room... for what reason? He would never get the answer to the myriad questions that would pop up in his developing mind; he never asked for anything. Why was this machine, the researchers wondered, failing to express that it was developing any kind of sense of self?
They were about to label him a failure, as a unit who does not show itself more than a simple robot cannot possibly call upon a Persona. Their purposes were to annihilate Shadows, and the only known way to effectively do so is to use Personas. With the truth about him revealed, Crux was enraged. He very nearly killed the guards and the scientist that came to claim him. What saved the humans were his faulty armaments, not having been properly tested yet. They threw him into another room, and they never communicated with him face-to-face again. A speaker on the ceiling was installed in place of risking the lives of those who worked in the facility.
For a few months, they kept him in the room, continuing to debate whether to scrap him or set him up for deployment. His caretakers eventually decided to give him one more chance, not willing to go out and buy more resources for a replacement. They took piles of books from the library in the facility and set them next to Crux while he was inactive. Curious, he took them and absorbed whatever was inside of them (figuratively). Finishing off this pile in a day, it became a routine to bring him more books. This also marked the first time he spoke comprehensible words to his makers.
Soon, the entire library was bare. They continued to keep a close eye on him. Finally, they brought him to trial his combat ability against a set of three captive Shadows, one by one. Crux dueled against the first with difficulty, not finding it in his heart to properly use his repaired firearms at long range. He seemed to fight more efficiently up-close. Willing to experiment, they produced a new set of arms with retractable blades slotted over the forearms. They tried with the second, and he slaughtered it in a matter of a few minutes. It was democratically decided to have him keep the parts. For the third match-up, they tested his ability to summon a Persona. With such little known about him in terms of personality, they didn't know what to expect him to call upon. They heard the sound of glass breaking, and then witnessed a large, coated man with a sword pop into existence.
They heard the robot call him 'Tsukuyomi', who they identified as the Shinto god of the Moon. With ease, the Persona's blade sliced it clean in two. These were weaker Shadows, so they did not reflect how things would work out in the real world. With all of the results they needed, they began preparations for deactivation and storage until deployment. While they were making all of these final notes, Crux took his arm and attempted to slice off his own head. This alarming development prompted more guards to try and save the day this time. But, staring at the dissolving Shadow corpse triggered something in his mind that forced him to hesitantly bring his weapon to his side. The guards were given the order to deactivate him, and their intentions then were to scrap him. Yet, with a stroke of luck, they mixed up the container unit #s and he was set for deployment. Those at the facility would never know of this.
Years later, Crux was reactivated for an assignment in a city off on the coast of China. Before he could comprehend how fast everything was going, a small team of 'Users' updated him on the situation and assigned him with his objective. For that moment, though, they needed to pierce through outer circle of Mosaic somehow and operate from the inside. With the speed that everything was going in, the ASW could only comply. After about an hour of searching for a 'crack', his team located a tunnel leading through to the outer area. Being told to stand by, he waited for them to give him the go-ahead. There was a lot of 'inactivity' involved with the mission, he mused to himself.
Another thirty minutes passed, and a call on the communicator blared loudly. They were being overrun. As fast as he could, Crux sped through the tunnel. He couldn't make it, unfortunately. While the path was clear, his teammates were already dead or missing. Sighing, he assigned himself a sub-objective to increase his proficiency with a Persona to a level beyond these so-called 'veterans'. There was no time to waste here. Avoiding the fate that met these Users, he continued on and became one of the first to reach the inside of the city. Their deaths shook him slightly, but he had to move on. Plus, he barely even knew them beyond listening to their chatter about the most idle things.
Finding himself in the safe zone, the ASW toured himself around based on the map data installed into him prior to awakening. Along the way, he gave a few of his observations to others listening in on his com channel. The humans that lived there waged very normal lives for people trapped like rats by Shadows. It was like they lived in ignorance of the fact that there may be something 'bigger' behind this supposed blockade around Mosaic City. Students even continued to study, more concerned about the next test than the Shadows lurking about the outskirts. The next phase of the operation commenced, and his new orders were to blend in and not tell anyone of his status. If his identity can be given to anybody, it would be those who already know what he is. Then, the com channel sputtered and refused to collect any messages from the outside. He was on his own now.
This newfound freedom didn't feel like freedom (from what he knows). His programming acted like chains, and he could never fully enjoy this new life that he could live if he wanted. He wasn't allowed to wish for it. The main objective, to dispel the Shadow activity in Mosaic, was the ten-ton weighted ball attached to these chains. 'Unemancipated' was his description for himself.
At the same time, these humans intrigued him. According to the numerous books he had read years ago, they were programmed to be free. The people walking around him were experiencing their freedom. They talked to each other, laughed at their own jokes, and cried when they laughed too much. Why couldn't he be this way? Didn't a personality and a sense of self equate to humanity? Crux had both, so why couldn't he live like this? Why was it a 'locked', 'restricted' path for him?
He doesn't want this. He doesn't want any of this. He would rather live than to die as a 'slave'. He would rather die than to live as a 'slave'. The desires to live and die clashed in his mind, slowly drilling into his sanity.
Using fake credentials to register himself as a student, Crux nabbed himself a uniform and immediately holed himself up in the library. He hoped he wouldn't have to fight a Shadow... yet.

Persona Lore:
Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto is the son of Izanagi as well as the brother of Amaterasu-omikami and Susanoo-no-Mikoto. He is the god of the moon in Shinto mythology. He was born after Izanagi's journey to and from the underworld, while he washed his body from the impurities that existed there. Washing out his right eye resulted in Tsukuyomi's birth, and he climbed up to the heavens to live with his sister.
There is little that has been written about him other than Amaterasu's anger towards him. He killed Uke Mochi, the goddess of food, when he attended a feast in his sister's place. Tsukuyomi was so disgusted by her way of 'making' the food that he outright killed her, thus resulting in Amaterasu becoming furious. Her anger was so great that she refused to see him again. Therefore, the moon and the sun would never be able to coexist in the sky at any one time ever again.
