The mall wasn't really the type of place one would usually find Kaitou hanging around during the day-- he far preferred to spend his free time at the tranquility of the shrine or the dojo under his house. Thanks to some incessant coaxing by his co-workers, he found himself tagging along with them to do some shopping before nightfall. Mother's Day was coming up anyway, and it was the brunet's tradition to buy his late mother a scarf and carnations to take to her grave. Even if he was away from home this year, he would still carry out his tradition, so this blip in his schedule wasn't a total waste of time. The shopping center was immense and filled to the brim with all of the latest duds, doo-dads, and dairy products. Kaitou wondered how the city maintained such plentiful supplies with the city being isolated from the outside world for the past three months, but any investigations quickly led to dead ends. While his co-workers chatted and dipped in and out of the shops, he lingered behind, having already bought a cream-colored scarf. His eyes wandered across the bustling scene until they settled on a small stationery stand. 'Well, I do need some parchment to write this year's letter...' Before he knew it, his feet were carrying him towards the kiosk. After a few minutes of perusing the shelves, he decided on a lavender-hued floral print, holding it up to the light to get a better look."This isn't bad," he remarked to himself in Japanese. "The selection here's pretty scarce, though. Not nearly as diverse as the 109..." Shifty eyes veered to the register as the words left his mouth. 'Oh. That was out loud. Christ. The cashier doesn''t look like she understood me, though.'
