Why am I doing thiiiis... Phoebe thought nervously.
Her first foray of exploration into the Terminal had gone well but answered next to nothing. Since hearing from Alysa about the cemetery incident she decided to come and get a peek at things herself. Sadly, it had to be at night; she simply couldn't get away from her job earlier and she really had no excuse to leave earlier. She wasn't afraid of cemeteries per se -- she'd stopped believing in ghosts and ghoulies years ago... but her latest brushes with Shadows had changed that. She was afraid of running into them. At least it wasn't awfully dark, thanks to the moon and some public lightning that provided weak, anemic pools of light in the cemetery.
She gulped at the sight of the rows of graves she walked by, some neat and tidy, others haphazard, weather-worn and overgrown. It should've been a rather somber and melancholy sight, really, but she felt nervous.
She stopped in front of a damaged mausoleum. This seemed to be the entrance to where Alysa had implied things had gone down. She stopped to check her equipment, pulling her crowbar out of her bag. She had her pocket flashlight secured in her breast-pocket and had also dug up an emergency flare from somewhere, in case she needed extra light in a pinch. Maybe it had been a bad idea to come here by herself but she tightened her grip on her crowbar and stepped in.
It was dark and smelled horribly. There was mildew and other smells she didn't care to identify. She clicked on her flashlight. It looked as if the floor had just collapsed and revealed further floors below of ancient catacombs. She'd read of their existence in books about Mosaic City, but never thought she'd see them herself. She could certainly see signs of a big battle here and there and wondered how bad it had been.
Perhaps... next time I can actually be of some help. I'm pretty sure Antiope's gotten stronger since I started to poke around in the perimeter.
She stepped around some rubble and moved further in cautiously.
