Setsuna was not a fan of Valentine's Day. When you consider how horribly her relationship went (especially how it ended and what she went through afterward), it's not hard to imagine why, either. So imagine how annoyed she was when, on a whim, she decided to stop by the shrine and she found out that they were holding a Valentine's Day festival. She usually came by the shrine when she needed a place to relax for a bit, but didn't quite feel like going home yet. Also, the shrine maiden she saw once in a while was kind of cute. All in all, she found herself somewhat attached to the place, despite how empty it seemed.
In spite of her reason she came here, she didn't really mind that there was a festival at first. Hell, it might even be a nice change of pace for once, though it did feel a little odd to be dressed casually. However, when she realized what the festival was actually celebrating, her mood soured quite a bit. Of course it'd be celebrating Valentine's Day. Honestly, she should have seen this coming. There were a lot of happy couples wandering around, and while it was annoying, she didn't pay them any mind. But now it all made sense. Either way, she was officially regretting her decision to come here today.
So then, that probably begs a certain question; why was Setsuna still here if she hated it so much? Well, truth be told, the festival itself wasn't as bad as she was making it out to be, and deep down, she knew that she was merely being bitter about her own failed relationship. However, the biggest reason was actually surprisingly simple. She always had a weakness for festival food. As if on cue, her stomach began growling once she started smelling all of the food from the stands. So, despite her hatred of Valentine's Day and everything it stood for, she couldn't resist staying. She was hungry, and she had plenty of money to spend, so...maybe this wouldn't be so horrible after all.
Naturally, it didn't turn out to be quite so simple. While the food she had gotten so far was quite good, the theme of the festival and all of the happy couples wandering around was making it hard to enjoy the festivities. She found herself sitting on a bunch, slowly gnawing away on a jumbo corn dog as several couples passed by, and, little by little, it was making her feel bitter. "Ugh...I wish all of these damn happy couples would just disappear..." She muttered those words out loud, though, due to the din of the festivities, only someone nearby would have heard her. Either way, none of the so-called "happy couples" passing by seemed to notice (or care) about the girl's bitter words, though she did get a few looks, due to her looking as bitter and miserable as she felt. No one seemed to pay it any mind though. Not that it mattered. She wasn't going to be here much longer anyway.
