Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

After the latest battle under the full moon, Layla was feeling pretty good. She had gotten pretty beat up in that fight, but even so they had all made it out alive and well. And on top of that, they had taken down two of those extremely strong shadows, not just one. All in all, it had been a good night.
But at the same time, they had been much stronger than the last batch. So, with that in mind, she would have to keep getting stronger as well. And so she continued her slow, steady trek into the depths of the sinkhole known as Devil's Descent. Soon enough, she found herself even deeper than ever before. The bottom of the hole felt closer than ever, and yet she could tell that it was still a long way away.

A thought struck Layla. There was almost no light shining down into the hole from above, but perhaps she could provide her own. She had her own light-based skill after all, and it was now capable of producing a large column of light instead of an eruption out of a mandala-like pattern on the ground like before. With that in mind, she summoned Vajrabhairava, aimed over the edge of the path, and called forth a column of light to come crashing down on the nearest surface below the path. It hit another, lower part of the path below, but by the light of the massive column, she could see the sides of the sinkhole narrow down below, and...there it was! That had to be the bottom of the hole! It wasn't far now...okay, actually it was still pretty far. But it was in sight now, at least.
The next thing she knew, though, a shadow in kendo armor came flying up from the depths, from around where she had hit the path with her attack, and landed in front of her, blade drawn. Its armor appeared scorched in places, to the point where Layla could immediately tell what had happened. It had been hit by her column of light, and was apparently weak to it. Layla didn't have time to ready herself for a battle though, and took a thrust from the shadow's blade straight to the chest.
"Fine...you want to fight? I can fight you," Layla asked. She doubted it would last long, though. After all, she already knew its weakness. And she took full advantage of it, calling down another column of light on the armor-clad swordshadow. The shadow's armor continued to burn away under the intensity of the light, but it remained undeterred and slashed at Layla multiple times in a combo that caught her off guard and forced her onto the defensive. But that only lasted so long before Vajrabhairava was able to unleash another light attack, burning the shadow the rest of the way into nonexistence.

With the armored shadow gone, there was nothing else in Layla's way for the moment. The bottom of the sinkhole was in sight, even if it was still a few hundred feet down. Handling the shadows along the way was getting easier and easier. Yes, Layla was still feeling pretty good. Even if she was a thousand feet below ground level, she might as well have been walking on air.
...Okay, that may have been an exaggeration. But things were still looking up. Maybe, just maybe, she would make it all the way to the bottom on this trip. And if not, she would definitely do it on the next one.
