Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
And so, the quick way it was. Fall damage was not an entirely unfamiliar concept to Pyxis, but by maintaining enough of a grip on the walls of the sinkhole, she could at least use friction to prevent herself from falling at dangerous speeds. It was a tactic she'd used before, and would most likely use again in the future. Besides, it made descending into the sinkhole a much faster process.
She did, however, stop every time she hit the path again, scanning the area to look for shadows interested in slowing her descent. And after awhile, she started detecting very strong readings from the depths below. Readings of shadows still beyond what she was normally accustomed to fighting.
Once she hit that point, she stuck to the path again and started walking normally. For her purposes, this would be close enough.
Soon enough, a Drive type blocked Pyxis's path. Pyxis couldn't make out a lot of details in the faint light, but she could very clearly tell that it was a Drive type, that it had spike-covered metal arms, and that it was standing in her way. But Pyxis wasn't particularly worried about that. She summoned Elpis, and directed it to smash into the shadow with a series of combo attacks. Although the brilliant form of the spirit of hope stood out against the darkness of the sinkhole's depths, the shadowy figures that welled up around her blended in, only being visible at all through Elpis's own light as they bombarded the shadow. It retaliated bet spinning around and swinging a spiked arm at Pyxis, but as it collided with her body...nothing happened. It just stopped dead.
Pyxis directed Elpis to hit it again as it attempted to pull away, slamming into it with another series of attacks via shadowy figured that pushed it gradually towards the edge of the path. Much like the Gigas made of spare parts at the hospital, if it didn't go down through sheer force she would have to resort to pushing it over the edge. Though she was near the bottom by this point, she was still high enough off of it that a fall would probably finish it off.
The Drive backed away from the last of the attacks, inadvertently putting itself right at the edge, before retaliating by shooting lightning straight at Pyxis. Several of her systems locked up as the lightning hit her, temporarily stunning her and doing serious (repairable, but still serious) damage. She tried to raise her arms, but they failed to respond, and so she was left with little choice but to direct Elpis to finish the shadow off. More shadowy figures welled up from the box at Elpis's feet, slamming into the Drive one after the other until it leaned back over the edge, lost its balance, and fell into the depths below.
Pyxis took a moment to heal herself, restoring her normal movement capabilities, then to heal herself a second time in case she ran into any more dangerous shadows in the depths. Because the depths were where she was going now. She walked over to the edge of the path and continued her slide down, landing next to the remains of the very dead shadow. Only, instead of completely dissolving, quite a few broken pieces of machinery remained, suggesting that the Drive had in fact been controlling real mechanical parts.
As morbid as the concept was, Pyxis still sifted through the remains, looking for anything that might be useful. The armor looked like it could disperse or even nullify lightning, so she took a few samples of that, along with a few other no-longer-functioning components.
She was effectively looting a corpse, but...well, people in RPGs did it all the time. And it could prove useful. She could feel disgusted about it later.
