Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Just what was the big deal about this place, anyway? 'Devil's Descent'? Pfft. It was a great big fucking hole. There were bigger ones in the world. Hell, even America had a bigger one. Sure, it had supposedly appeared after the blockade went up, but so what? A hole was a hole?
So naturally, Jaelyn didn't feel all that intimidated by the gaping maw of Devil's Descent. She was going to explore it today because it would hopefully have new and stronger shadows to light on fire. And it was better than that damned hospital. Yes, even falling down a hole was preferable to going back to the hospital. At least this place didn't have a maze she had to get through to get anywhere. Just a straight(-ish) path running along the walls.

Oh. It was another formless shadow, just crawling along the path. How...dull. Was this really going to be a repeat of the mines? Jaelyn almost just turned and walked away, but then decided to just take out her frustration on it by incinerating it in a single attack. She summoned Caligula, and started charging up. An aura of power surrounded both herself and the mad emperor, ready to be unleashed at a moment's notice. Then a couple arms formed out of the blob of the shadow as it stretched them and its mask up...and hit her with fire.
Well...shit.
Not that fire could do anything to Jaelyn. But it meant that the same was probably true of the shadow. Switching gears, she directed Caligula to attack it with darkness instead. The third emperor raised a hand to his face, literally pulling it off and exposing dizzying black depths within. Dark clouds spewed out of the opening, almost invisible from the sheer lack of light, and engulfed the blob-like shadow. That, at least, was effective. Might as well stick with that. The shadow retaliated by creating a needle-like appendage out of its mass and thrusting it straight at Jaelyn. It was...painful, but not unbearable. She'd stood up to stronger attacks in the past. Some of them wind-based.
Jaelyn charged up again. Although the blob of a shadow hadn't managed to go down in one hit, the second would probably still finish it off. It stabbed at Jaelyn again, to much the same effect. Painful, but not life-threatening. Maybe if both of them had been wind attacks she might have been in danger. But, now it wouldn't matter anymore. Again, masses of darkness engulfed the shadow, and in the faint light of the hole shadow, natural darkness, and dark magic all seemed to blend together. And so they might as well have, as once the dark clouds cleared and retreated back into Caligula's head, the shadow was no more.

Oh, there was something left around here after all. Some kind of medicinal something or other had been left behind. Did the shadow have this? Did it need it, or had it just gotten stuck inside its body after it killed some other poor bastard who came through here? Well...either way, it wasn't going to need it anymore. Not after Caligula practically ate it. So, Jaelyn picked it up and wedged it in a currently unused holster strapped to her leg. She'd managed to lose the knife that was usually there, but...well, that's why she had multiples. And with that taken care of, Jaelyn started back down the path and deeper into the great big hole.
