Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
Traveling through the vast halls of the castle eventually took Pyxis to a door that looked like it had been forced open. Or rather, blasted into bits. In fact, it looked the area around the door had become a battlefield, and the door had been the loser. Either way, the path forward was open, and Pyxis was able to make her way inside.
On the other side of the door was a massive library, far larger than any she had ever seen. In truth, with most of it cast in darkness it was impossible just to see how large it was, but even what was visible completely dwarfed what she had seen thus far. For all she knew, just getting to the end of it would be as monumental a task as returning from the depths of the Devil's Descent.
But, she had to start somewhere.
((Gold shadow bonus from the advertising event goes on this thread.))
A curious thing came floating out of the darkness of the library. It appeared to be a floating head wearing a crown of the same size, except that the crown was more like a cage holding a free-floating book. Pyxis summoned Elpis as it came into view, not giving it time to notice her before pelting it with a rain of meteors. The Book type took what was clearly very heavy damage from the attack, then responded by putting up a barrier of some sort, which Pyxis quickly recognized as Tetrakarn. Trying to repel physical attacks, was it? But a barrier like that couldn't be maintained for long. A wave of energy spread across both combatants, allowing Pyxis to easily target the shadow's weak point. The shadow...replaced its barrier the moment it fell. Pyxis began charging up. From that point on, if it continued to stall, she would just wait until it exhausted itself.
Finally, the shadow's book opened, and a massive attack slammed into Pyxis. She recognized it from before: a Mother type had used it on her back at the airport, but at the time it was well above her level and nearly took her out of the fight. Now, while it was still more damage than Pyxis usually saw out of a shadow, it wasn't enough to (almost) put her out of the fight. As the surge of energy cleared, she unleashed her own in a second rain of meteors, smashing the book into bits.
For just stepping foot into a new area, that battle had gone surprisingly well. Actually, for something that was probably guarding the entrance, that battle had been surprisingly underwhelming. That aside, though, there was no reason to turn back yet, so Pyxis continued onward. She took a moment to heal herself, then started down a row of bookshelves. Best place to start in a library, after all. Maybe she'd check out some of the books, too, while she was here. Or, at least, the ones that weren't attacking her.
Maybe, in the process, she could figure out what the name of the attack she'd learned along the way, 'Agneyastra', meant.
