Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
Layla wasn't paying all that much attention to where she was going, so it was with some surprise when she suddenly found herself in front of a doorway that looked like it had seen much better days. Caution was about the farthest thing from her mind at the moment, so it was with no hesitation that she stepped through the door-less threshold and found herself in a massive library. She stopped for a moment when she saw it, pondering the fact that she had just stumbled upon a library in a castle full of shadows. What did shadows need with a library? As far as she had learned up to that point, the sentient ones had a human form and were in the city. Not out here in the giant floating castle. Unless...castle in the sky...somewhere that only people with special powers could get to...in a den of shadows, and shadows seem to be tied to human thoughts and emotions...
Was this the Akashic Records?
...No, that was ridiculous. But even so, it merited exploring. Once she dealt with any shadows that happened to want to stop her, of course.

Apparently, there was a librarian of a shadow lurking around that didn't want Layla in the library. It was currently standing in the way of the nearest line of bookshelves. One of those wizard looking shadows, with spectacle-like markings over its masked face. It spread its arms wide...but not fast enough before Layla summoned her persona and brought a column of light crashing down on it. Bookish shadows in dark rooms were weak to bright light, right?
...Well, maybe not. But this one was. But it wasn't enough to finish it off. Layla immediately turned and ran as it started charging up a spell of its own. She took cover behind another nearby bookcase, just in time for it to be blown apart by a single bolt of lightning. Though Layla managed to avoid the hit, her cover was gone. She retaliated with another column of light, then took off again to try and avoid the next attack. Unfortunately, the next attack was a localized tornado, which pulled Layla and the remains of the bookcase and books the shadow had just destroyed into it, battering her from all sides.
As the wind faded, Layla scrambled to her feet, nearly falling over herself multiple times in the process. But she managed to stay standing long enough to drop another light attack on the shadow, finishing it off.

Whew. That had been...well, not unexpected, but it was a bit of a rude awakening, at least. After Layla had just rushed through the last two fights, she hadn't expected anything else to pose a serious threat to her. And yet, here it was. She'd gotten lucky against it, and the library (or at least, a few bookshelves) had taken a lot more damage than she did. But even so, she found herself needing to heal a bit before pressing onward. With that out of the way, she sifted through the damaged bookcase at her feet to see what was left of it. All of the books had been shredded, and the shelves themselves were in splinters. Just what timeless knowledge had been lost because of a trigger happy wizard shadow? Had it even been anything at all?
