I stared at the knife I had managed to find from the battle that allowed us passage into this new area. A strange, but large library filled with what I can only assume are tomes and grimoires containing forbidden knowledge. I had half a mind to try and read some of them, wondering if they were really similar to the strange books that are alluded to and constantly referred to in myths, tales, and other stories. This knife, it was shining with a strange light.
「 」
Void. Emptiness. Was this the answer? "Nothing"? There was no answer? Hmm. It was a little frustrating to even consider that outcome. Regardless, I could feel something strange coming from within the library. I looked around in a frenzy, holding my new knife even more tightly than before, its shining light guiding the way in these dark halls. Eventually, I found a piece of paper on the floor. There was some writing on it; but the writing was not in ink from a ball-pen or graphite from a pencil. It was in blood. The lettering was brownish-red, the color of blood as it had become dry and stale. Dead, in other words.
What was more jarring, however, was the fact the handwriting was unmistakeably Kariya's writing. My dad's writing. I looked at what was written and realized that it was nearly incomprehensible. If my dad had actually written this, he had become literally insane. Most of it was nonsense speaking about 'the void,' 'everything originates from the singularity,' and such other hocus-pocus. It was out of character for him. Regardless, I pocketed it, but upon doing so, I heard sounds.
I turned around and drew my knife forward at the emptiness, awaiting for an ambush or an attack from the enemy.
「 」
A word blares into my mind.
What does this mean...? "The root..."? Does this nonsense actually have meaning in the sea of chaos? Hmph! I can't focus on that right now...
