Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Nozome breathed deeply, despite the foul smell inherent to the sewers. She still didn't know much about the situation concerning the outside of the city, why was it destroyed, or what were these... shadow things. But she had a power. An ability, granted to her by god knows who. So, this means she had to use it, no? To get good at it, to become powerful. Maybe to fight a threat that loomed above everyone. Maybe she'd have to do it alone, or with people she didn't know yet. Maybe she'd have to fight another user of this ability, or an unspeakable horror. Whatever she had to do with her new abilities, she had one thing clear. She'd have to practice using her abilities, and become stronger.
Walking through the sewers, Nozome winced at the smell once again. She was nervous, sure. But the place would allow her to fight on her own terms. The tight tunnels would allow her to fight one or two enemies at the same time, which was perfect for her. Although there may be a better place to do that, Nozome didn't want to risk straying too far and finding something too powerful, or a group too big for her. Once she found a particularly dry tunnel, Nozome took her sword outside of the bag she was carrying, and slammed the scabbard against the floor, making as much noise as she could. Taking another deep breath (Through her mouth, mind you), she yelled to the darkness all around. "Will one of you step up, and face me in combat? Try to extinguish my flame, I dare you!"

And here it is. Answering her call, a jester surrounded by a pair of hands appeared. A fight for her own life, one that she herself desired- no, needed. To be stronger. Pushing her fear of death to the bottom of her psyche, Nozome drew her blade and adopted the classic, two-handed position that she knew by heart. Doing a quick mental revision of what she was able to do, Nozome gulped, and rushed into combat.
First, an overhead strike. With the position of the enemy's limbs, it was unlikely that they'd be able to block such an attack. "Men!" And there it was, a successful slash. Placing her hand on the dull side of the blade for extra leverage, Nozome's sword sliced through the shadow's body with little difficulty. Could it possibly be so easy? Of course not. Disregarding the attack, not even flinching, the shadow's oversized hands opened abruptly, smacking the blonde fighter away. The attack was unexpected, and it left Nozome reeling. The Shadow didn't stop its attack, and continued the combo by launching an ice block. Nozome had enough footing to try and parry the attack, but it was not enough, and the strike made her drop her katana, a dull pain setting in on her left wrist.
The Shadow sought to capitalize this chance, and quickly shot a fireball towards Nozome. Despite her unadvantageous position, she was able to see the attack coming and was able to crouch beneath the fireball, grabbing her sword as well. The pain on her wrist wasn't gone, so Nozome was forced to use only her right hand for now. Jumping back, Nozome decided to try channelling her own new abilities. Extending her left hand, Nozome called that presence hidden on the depths of her soul. "Hamsa, Agi!" The bird-like creature that had appeared back then appeared as expected, and shot a fireball not unlike the one that the Shadow had shot a while ago. Finding its mark, the fireball exploded on the Shadow's body. The shadow began looking tired, and desperate. It moved as if it was going to shoot an attack, but nothing came out of it. Confused, Nozome moved forward to attack just in time, as a vicious lightning fell from above her previous position. The attack didn't miss fully, and managed to strike Nozome's left ankle.
A yelp escaped Nozome's mouth, the pain of the attack shooting through her body. However something didn't quite check out... Even if the lightning attack seemed more powerful than the other ones, the damage was somewhat subdued... Perhaps, both her and the Shadow were somehow aligned with electricity? Testing this, Nozome called out once again. "Come forth, Zio!" Just like before, a lightning fell, this time on the Shadow. Nozome did notice her own attack looked quite weaker than her opponent's, and the effect was evident as the jester-like enemy was barely fazed by the attack. The Shadow retaliated by summoning a foul mist around the blonde fighter. Nozome was quick on her feet, and managed to exit the zone before the thick miasma could do any lasting harm. "Agi!" A fireball shot out of Nozome's avian helper and slammed against the Shadow, making it reel back slightly. On its last legs, the Shadow tried to shoot another lightning attack, but Nozome was faster than its charging time, and thrust her sword towards the Shadow's neck. "Tsuki."
The shadow shook and writhed, before all of its life force was extinguished. Slumping down, the misshapen jester's body dissolved into the shadows that it came from. Breathing loudly, Nozome smiled. She won! She had defeated a shadow! Sheathing her sword, the blonde proceeded to stuff it back on her bag. She then proceeded to go back to the city, as the use of her abilities, together with the intensity of battle, had exhausted her a lot. "Hauu... Time for a rest~"
