Tristan was experiencing an extreme hunger that no normal food could vanquish. He started to grin. It's time to see how well I perform on the hunt... This should be fun! the shadow thought as he leapt out the door. All he needed to do was find some suitable prey.
The chance came when the shadow went to the park. A girl who was around Tristan's age was sitting on a park bench. It didn't take an ability to read emotions to know that the girl was troubled. So, willing to help in a way that her troubles would matter no more, the shadow feasted upon her sorrow.
When he started the walk back home, the girl was no longer sad. She didn't feel much of anything.
