Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

After the full moon a couple days ago, Layla was feeling slightly better. The headaches had died down, she hadn't had any seizures in almost three weeks, and nothing more serious than that since the incident in the park. With that, she finally felt up to going out and fighting again. She made her way back to the library, but ended up spending more time looking through books than looking for shadows. They would come, probably sooner rather than later, so Layla wasn't terribly concerned about wasting time.
In fact, she had almost come to accept the fact that anything she did was wasting time. By doing one thing, she missed the chance to do anything else she could be doing. There just plain wasn't enough time left to do everything she wanted, no matter how much she did or didn't waste.

A shadow with a shining white body appeared before Layla soon enough. That was about the only impressive thing about it, though. Otherwise, it was another dancer pair like she'd fought all too many of in the past. Not a particularly big deal. And sure enough, it opened with something insignificant: a rather provocative dance most likely intended to charm. But Layla was unaffected, and instead opened with a supercharged lightning storm.
It didn't look like the shadow was weak to it, but the lightning still did an incredible amount of damage, It tarnished the shadow's glossy body with black scorch marks and leaving several bolts arcing between it and the remains of several bookcases nearby. All were destroyed in the thunderstorm. The shadow managed to retaliate with a blast of wind, but it wasn't nearly enough to stop Layla from getting off a second thunderstorm, finishing it.

Layla didn't pay the dancer shadow much thought as it fell. She looked to see if it left anything behind, grabbed what was left of its rapier to sell to the junk dealer, then continued onward. There was too much to do to sit around messing with or thinking about a shadow that was already dead. Even if a lot of that was looking for books that might help her out, or at least that she could actually read. In a way, it amazed her. She prided herself on knowing more languages than most people alive, but now she'd run into plenty that she didn't even recognize. But, it was also one more frustration to add to the growing pile.
