Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Everything in this world had a...way of being. A particular rhythm. Figuring out anything of importance in this world was just a matter of figuring out how all the pieces worked together. That was her goal right now: figure out how shadows work. Normally, that would be why she was here today, but life isn't always easy and sometimes people just need a break. While Holly would never allow herself to be completely unproductive, she could allow herself to slide a little bit and do something that, while didn't necessarily do everything she wanted, was at least useful. This was probably the tallest building in this place. If she could make it to the top she'd have a pretty nice view of the city. Not to mention there was probably all kinds of loot that weird blonde woman would want. Yes, gathering resources was useful too. She would also be sure to observe the shadows a bit. Figure out how they move, how they sound. If she was genuinely going to pretend to be one someday then figuring that out was also important. Information was an important resource too after all.
Holly drew her weapons. Even if she was here for resources she'd be disappointed if she didn't get to beat them up at least a little.

Today, the shadow appeared behind her, not that it did much because those things were far from quiet and she could sense them slightly. Still, she couldn't tell if this was a sign of intelligence, or if it just happened to be in that direction. Regardless, it would definitely be satisfying to beat it up. When she looked at it she realized it would be even more satisfying than she initially thought. The way it was looking at her was just disturbing. Completely unacceptable. She was just disappointed that there was only one. It was pretty bold attacking her alone, let's see what its got!
Holly drew her knives and made her persona card appear in front of her to smash. A devious looking woman appeared in front of her and created a small gust of wind to pierce the shadow. It hit perfectly, but the shadow didn't seem particularly bothered by it. Was it strong against wind or just stronger than the small groups she was used to? Hard to say.
Before Holly had much of a chance to think about it the shadow was already sending off its attack. It was another wind spell? It caught her off guard, but it's not like she even needed to dodge it. The gust was much larger than what she could create, but she barely flinched from it because of her persona's own resistances. Humph, Holly was unimpressed. But...if it used wind spells, it would make sense that it resisted wind like she did. Alright, this was a job for her knives and whatever she could get her hands on and chuck at it. She moved to the top of a broken desk, likely the front desk of the office when it was operational, and tossed three knives at it in rapid succession. All of them hit, perfect! But it didn't seem to hurt the shadow anymore than the wind attack did. Did it resist that too? She bit her thumb and retreated under the desk just as it was casting another spell at her. The entire front side of the desk froze. Holly held her breath for a moment. Ice was what nearly killed her when she first summoned her persona. This situation was worse than she thought. She wasn't going to let some stupid shadow show her up though. It was time to get creative.
Most of this room was open space. The only things in it were this desk, a few broken pots that probably held plants at one point, some fallen bookcases, an upturned couch and a few chairs, and some rubble. It wasn't much, but some of the destroyed books were probably light enough to fling at it if it got close enough she could effectively strike twice. This was good and all, but the shadow hadn't moved an inch since noticing her. It was likely as much of a ranged caster as she was. She took a closer look towards the shadow's area. Well, it looked like there were some broken glass shards. That was probably good enough. Once again, Holly summoned Anaisa Pye, but this time the order was slightly different.
"Garu! Throw everything you can into 'em too!"
The attack came from underneath the shadow and a little bit diagonally instead of directly above it like usual. A reasonable amount of loose debris was flung into the shadow as well. It hunched over a bit. Good, it was hurt, but Holly didn't know what to expect from its next attack. The fact that it wasn't moving while she was disturbed her a little. Did it fall asleep or something? No, it was definitely looking at her with that same disturbing expression. Suddenly it launched another wind attack. Shadows were so dumb, it already tried this attack and it didn't work well! While Holly wasn't quite fast enough to side-step the attack, it did even less than the last one. Pathetic. Wait, was it actually dumb or was it just messing with her? She was leaning dumb, but if she wanted to genuinely understand shadows she shouldn't assume these things. They were just completely impossible to read. The stupid thing still had the same ridiculous expression on its face even though it was hunched over and hurt. It wasn't even trying to run away. Did these things have no sense of self-preservation? It was hard to treat this as any thing more than it being a mindless creature that was dumber than a sack of rocks. It still felt unsatisfying though. There were clearly some intelligent ones if they could pretend to be people but...why were these ones different? Regardless, she didn't have anymore time to play with this thing. Using the same trick, she finished it off with one final attack and it disappeared with a puff of smoke.
She though this would be satisfying, but it just ended up being disappointing. Life was so unfair.

Holly didn't feel as tired as she did in the past, but her bag was full and it looked like the path up was blocked. How troublesome. She picked up some of the remaining books, but she couldn't really make out any of the words in them. It probably wasn't important anyway. There didn't seem to be much point in sticking around here. She'd have to find some other place to explore in the future, unless she was just trying to find some quick loot for the weirdo in the junk shop. There was plenty of that here, but not much else.
With a pout and a sigh, Holly began to make her trek home. This must have been her punishment for letting herself be so unproductive tonight.
