Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Holly rubbed her nose. "You're really going down there aren't you? At least stay behind me then."
Hefting her bag over her should again, she walked in his direction at a brisk pace. She was still walking, but with her stride she should catch up to him pretty quickly, especially if he had the decency to wait like a sane person. She wasn't counting on that part though. Well, she couldn't save this person from the horrors of the outside, but maybe if she was lucky he'd awaken to a persona too.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you what was down there anyway, it's something you have to see for yourself. I mean, for starters the reason I can handle what's down there is because I'm a fucking magical girl." She didn't watch anime or play video games personally, but the genera was popular enough that it was pretty hard to not know of it. "What's your name anyway? I'm Holly."

"You're really going down there aren't you? At least stay behind me then." Ringo turned around to see the girl picking up her bag and passing him. Ringo honestly wondered if he should give his flash light over to her but it seemed that she knew where she was going. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you what was down there anyway, it's something you have to see for yourself." Ringo arched an eyebrow. "I mean, for starters the reason I can handle what's down there is because I'm a fucking magical girl."
Ringo can't help but to have a mental car crash of sorts as he gives Holly a look that is of...incredible confusion. Her? A magical girl? The idea of this girl in some kind of bright colorful outfit is something he didn't want to think about for some odd reason. Not to mention it would seem...well...granted Ring only knew her for a few hours but it felt very out of character for her.
"What's your name anyway? I'm Holly." Thankfully her words ceased Ringo's mental carcrash.
"I'm Ringo, its nice to meet you." Ringo said with a smile. "So...wait...you won't tell me what is down here...but you're telling me that you are a "magical girl". I don't know that statement is a little hard to swallow..." for a multitude of reasons Ringo added that last thought to himself.

"That's exactly why talking about it is pointless. You either realize what you're doing is stupid as hell and leave, or you go down there. If I told you anything you'd just think I was making fun of you. I'm dead serious by the way."
Without slowing her walk, she took her free hand and pointed upwards. Almost instantly, a glowing blue card with a strange looking blue mask on one side and the image of a young woman with very long brown hair and a yellow dress appeared and started spinning just above her finger. She let it hover there for a few seconds before dismissing it with a wave of her hand.

If I told you anything you'd just think I was making fun of you. I'm dead serious by the way." Ringo titled his head as something appeared in Holly's hand. Ringo would best describe it as a glowing blue card. On one side is a strange blue mask, on the other is what appeared be a blonde lady. Ringo slowly nodded.
"...I admit...I'm a little bit more convinced on the magical part." Ringo is going to take wild guess that card has something to do with whats going. "So...you fight monsters? Is that what's going on?" Admittedly, now he is seeing why Holly did not choose to explain it when Ringo demanded it. It would've been hard for him to swallow.

"Yep, the outside is crawling with them now and they're super powered too. That's why that little wooden sword won't help you. Normal weapons won't even scratch them, and even without magic their physical abilities are beyond that of any normal human. It's the same with me actually. Even though I'm not at all trained with any kind of weapon I could probably take you in a straight fight."
She was actually less sure of that than she sounded. She was definitely stronger and faster than she was before, but there was definitely something to be said for genuine knowledge and skill. He didn't need to know that though.

"Yep, the outside is crawling with them now and they're super powered too. That's why that little wooden sword won't help you" Ringo looked at his wooden sword in disappointment. He figured a big disaster requiring the military and such wouldn't be handled by a bokken but none the less this is rather saddening. "Normal weapons won't even scratch them, and even without magic their physical abilities are beyond that of any normal human." Normal weapons? Would that mean even if Ringo brought a metal sword it wouldn't do much to them? "It's the same with me actually. Even though I'm not at all trained with any kind of weapon I could probably take you in a straight fight." Ringo wondered about that, but he doesn't exactly want to test that theory.
"I see..." Ringo lowered his bokken as he stared forward in thought as the continued along inside the tunnels. "I'm curious though. How did you obtain your powers then?" Ringo might as well ask. Maybe there was a way for him to obtain this power. "Or...was it chance occurrence?" He never seen anything like this so maybe it was just those random chance of fate things. Ringo stopped as he saw a light on the other side. His eyes widened a bit as he saw the site.
She was right in one aspect. They were numerous...shadows...crawling around. Thankfully they were very far away but even from where Ringo was standing, there was something obviously wrong

"No idea," she shrugged. "I told you, I'm just special."
Soon, they reached the end of the tunnel and wandered into the outer circle. She decided to stop for a bit to let him take in the sights. She half expected to have to stop for a bit anyway because she expected him to pause for a moment. Anyone would given the scenery. Fortunately (or unfortunately because it meant she wouldn't get to show off her super powers), there were no shadows nearby. She could sense several a fair distance away, but there was probably no need to go that far.
"Well, welcome to the outer circle, the city beyond the blockade," she folded her hands and put them behind her head. "Just remember I did try to stop you from coming."

"No idea," Holly shrugged. "I told you, I'm just special." So she had no idea too? Ringo could now guess that maybe she just got her 'magical powers' recently...though on the other hand she seems decently knowledgeable with what is going on. So it was by chance occurrence? Looks like he better hope he gets lucky then...
"Well, welcome to the outer circle, the city beyond the blockade," Holly said, placing her arms behind her head as if she was relaxing herself. "Just remember I did try to stop you from coming." Ringo took a step forward and looked around. This was...insane. Completely unlike anything he has ever seen. To think these things were resting just outside the blockade.
"And they all attack people?" Ringo was now surprised the tunnels weren't better guarded. Thankfully the creatures are far away from this particular tunnel exit but..."Oh boy..." Ringo looked at his bokken. "Looks like I'm going to have to put money into getting a proper blade." Holly's message did not completely get through to Ringo exactly. "Though I don't think that's going to solve the issue...hmmm..." Ringo was now in thought. Yup, he still thinks he could do something about all this.

For a moment, she said nothing and just let the sounds of the squirming shadows fill the air. Holly herself, just stared at Ringo. It was a judging stare. This guy was making terrible life choices. This was exactly why she didn't want him to come down here.
"Probably not, no! I don't think you'll be much help against these monsters. I'm sure there's some way you can support me from the inner circle, but as I said before, if you tried to support me here you'd just get in my way. It's nothing personal, you're just not built to be able to fight against these things."

"Probably not, no!" Ringo turned over to see Holly staring at him in a harshly judging manner. " I don't think you'll be much help against these monsters. I'm sure there's some way you can support me from the inner circle, but as I said before, if you tried to support me here you'd just get in my way." Ringo started to think as Holly said all this. " It's nothing personal, you're just not built to be able to fight against these things." He looked back at the shadows then back at Holly.
"Well we don't know unless we try...though provoking them would be a poor life decision." Ringo started to turn around. "Welp, now that I know what is down here, mission accomplished." Ringo started to walk back until he then looked over at Holly. "Sorry for giving you this type of detour. You were trying to leave earlier correct?"
Post by Holly Mason on Jan 30, 2014 0:57:34 GMT -5
"Yes, provoking them would be very bad. I'm glad you understand," she said flatly. "Don't worry about it, I wouldn't have insisted on coming if I didn't want to. Let's get out of here, I could use a shower."
She wasn't particularly sweaty or anything, but there was a bit of blood in her hair. It'd get really sticky if she didn't wash it out before it dried too much. She also needed to turn her new collection of junk over to the strange blonde woman in the gap. Fortunately, this was just a small detour to make sure no one got themselves killed. It was worth a few minutes of her time.

"Yes, provoking them would be very bad. I'm glad you understand," Holly said. "Don't worry about it, I wouldn't have insisted on coming if I didn't want to. Let's get out of here, I could use a shower." Judging by her looks that would be a good idea since it looks like she has been through a bit...though it would not be wise to comment on a girl's looks. Ringo continued to light the way with his flash light.
"So, how long would you say that you have your 'magical powers'" Ringo might as well ask for details as well as give themselves a topic of conversation as they walk out of the tunnels.

"A few months. I got them shortly after the blockade went up."
He already knew about all this, so there wasn't much point in keeping secrets anymore. If anything, keeping information from him would actually hurt him because it seemed unlikely that he was just going to stop coming here now that he'd seen it. That was the kind of thing she was afraid of. He was powerless in this situation, but he didn't want to believe it. It was tough to swallow and would drive any person into a terrible despair.
That said, she didn't exactly mind the conversation. It would make the walk less boring.
"A few months. I got them shortly after the blockade went up." This time line did not bode well. These shadows and the timing of Holly gaining her powers brings up a new question. How long have they been around then? Were they a recent phenomenon? Must be since the blockade only came up a few weeks ago. Ringo scratched his head in thought and then sighed upon realizing something.
"I hate to be rude but should you really say anything about me going in since you went up much earlier and back when there is less information?" Ringo at least waited a bit and made some preparations. "Doesn't make it any less reckless though...no matter what the time..." Ringo said looking back slightly back at where they're walking from.

"Definitely. I nearly died going in there the first time. Saying I shouldn't tell people not to is like saying parents shouldn't tell their kids not to touch the stove just because they did it when they were toddlers too. I also gained the means to fight the creatures in there and as far as I can tell, you did not. This is just not your fight, it's nothing to be ashamed of. Normal people can't stand up to their attacks or even hurt them. Just imagine getting struck by lightning or set on fire. To a normal person, that's what it feels like. To me, it just feels like getting punched."
