Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Seiji had never ventured so far from the city, not once during any of his numerous explorations of the area. The fog seemed less dense on the countryside but it still obscured just enough that it was hard to be sure about what was waiting for him just out of sight. A visit to the library earlier in the day had turned up an atlas that showed a map of the area around the city. Something about a mine marked on the map as dangerous stuck out to Seiji all throughout the rest of the day. If an area was dangerous before it was filled to the brim with shadows, what could it possibly be like now?
As he neared the mine entrance, his head throbbed as the presence of powerful shadows were felt. Even with his electrified bastard sword at his side, he still felt very naked, going into a pit of shadows with no armor, a Persona that was strong but not terribly strong, and a sword that looked like something bought off of a redneck infomercial. He had to gear up and develop if he wanted to evolve and protect the people he was starting to care about. The best way to do that would be to either get his rear end kicked or have a close call.
He knew one or the other was coming as he descended into the depths of the mine. He marked his path with a ball of yarn so he could find his way back quickly.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Well well, Seiji quickly found himself assaulted by a pack of hands wearing masks. Not these again, they were the same kind of shadow that had nearly wrecked him when he explored the outer circle with Alisa earlier in the week. Well, there was nothing to be done 'cept handing out some...how would Takeda put it? Ass beatings. Drawing his sword and summoning his Persona in one motion, Sir Gareth stood ready at Seiji's side. His Persona seemed as ready for a fight as he was. Raising his bastard sword, he charged headfirst into the pack of shadows, Gareth at his side after the Persona had buffed his attack power again.
He fell upon the shadows like a furious wave, hacking at them and forcing them away and further into the corners of the thin mine passageway. There wasn't much room to maneuver but that went both ways. As he ensured the shadows stayed on the defensive even as they tried to harm him with blasts of Agilao and Bufula. Luckily, he wasn't really weak to either of those things, so the only reason they hurt was because of his lack of real armor. Gareth's holy light filled the mineshaft and scorched the shadows. It was a weak attack in the grand scheme of things but it kept the three shadows distracted long enough for Seiji to corner one of the hands and brutally begin to beat them down with his electric blade. Gareth held the other two off as he brutally hacked at the shadow again and again until it disappeared from under his feet, leaving him with one less foe to fight.
Standing valiant, he saw that the hands both looked different in strange ways. One of them was muscular. Bulging, rolling lines of muscle mass rolled down the shadow and he saw what appeared to be a six pack on its 'stomach'. Well, the shadows were bench pressing now. Great. Nodding at Gareth, the Persona rushed it down and delivered a powerful slash attack. Despite the creature's strength, it seemed to be weak to sword slashes because Gareth vanquished it with only the one blow. That left only a single shadow left and he could try to search for some loot. Fighting large groups alone wouldn't be prudent.
As usual when only left with a single opponent and what would hopefully be a finishing blow, Seiji and Sir Gareth nodded at one another and ran at the shadow. Their blades crossed and clashed after slicing through the shadow. The creature howled in pain and disappeared. Aw...that was getting good, too.

Aw darn. There was nothing good for him to take and run. At least he knew he still had it when it came to fighting these things. Since acquiring Getsu-Ei, Sir Gareth hadn't learned any new attacks so he felt like he was slipping in the field of fighting shadows.
Getting back to the city didn't take him nearly as long as he thought it would. Passing through the cobblestone streets, he felt a pleasant sense of satisfaction as he saw a Maya that had slithered out of the executive building squeal and run back inside when it saw him coming. Maybe he'd go back in there sometime.
