Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

Holly had never come to this part of the city...ever. Even before the quarantine she never bothered going to the edge of the city because all the things that interested her were closer to where she lived. It made the whole place less eerie to her. A lot of the other places she had explored were places she had seen personally, so seeing them destroyed and infested with demonic things was always a little strange. Here though, it was like she was in an entirely different world. For one, she didn't even know there was a mine in the city.
That said, a new place didn't change her goals. She still wanted to learn as much as she could about shadows. She still wanted to draw out the 'mid-boss' shadows if the other users' analysis was correct. Ultimately, she still wanted to save the world.
Holly entered the tunnels, paper in hand to take notes as usual. She tried to avoid engaging the shadows, but she knew that they'd find her sooner or later. They always did.

Right on cue.
Unsurprisingly, these shadows appeared in front of her. Given the narrow tunnels of the mines she would have had to be blind to get caught from behind. The narrow tunnels were going to be a problem though, it meant she didn't have much room to maneuver and it was going to be near impossible to dodge any attacks. That meant she would have to finish this quickly, which unfortunately her skill set was poorly suited to doing. Holly mentally cursed at her persona for not learning any better attacking spells since she awakened, and she swore she felt her persona stick her tongue out at her.
Her inner self could be such a jerk sometimes.
She decided to open up with Rakunda. Purple rings surrounded the shadows, lowering their ability to fend off her attacks. Holly determined that such a spell was better suited for longer battles, but given the shadows in the areas that felt easier than this already took a couple of hits to finish off, she imagined this would be even worse. To her with her relatively bad attack power, this could very well be a long battle.
The shadows retaliated almost immediately. The strangely drippy, humanoid shadow cast a very familiar spell on both of the shadows, enveloping them in an orange light. Apparently they thought like she did and figured that increasing their attack power would be useful. That wasn't good considering it was going to be difficult to dodge and she had no way to counter it. The other hit her with a surprisingly weak blast of fire. Even with the increased attack power, it didn't hurt nearly as badly as she was expected. Of course, it still hurt, but she was still going strong.
Now it was time to move. If that gravy monster was going to keep enhancing their power than she needed to take it out as quickly as she could. Holly sent a blast of wind at it and it let out a terrible sound that was somewhere between a scream and a groan. Bits of gravy flew off of it and stuck to the walls. It was kind of gross really. It looked like she hit the shadow's weakness, but it was able to take it was able to take it just fine. That wasn't good, was her attack power really that bad here?
One again, the gravy monster increased their attack power and the hand hit her with another blast of fire. It was noticeably stronger, almost on par with the stronger attacks she was more used to seeing. She could take a couple more of those on this power level, but she was sure that the gravy man would increase their attack power again. That could get bad. She sent another blast of wind at the creature, but it still wasn't quite enough to finish it off. Gritting her teeth, she waited for the gravy monster to finish off its offensive preparations, but that didn't happen. It was severely injured, and decided to use its last bit of power to actually finish her off instead. This was arguably worse. It rushed towards her, looking like it was getting ready to punch her face in. She attempted to move out of the way, but the corridor was just too narrow. It hit her right in the shoulder, sending her into the wall she was trying to dive towards. The other one hit her with a blast of fire and she was honestly starting to feel a little dizzy.
This is when she realized her true power. She wasn't super good at offense, but she had staying power. One last hit would finish of gravy man over there, and then the last shadow's pathetic little fire attacks wouldn't be enough to outdo her own healing. It took a little while to finish off the last one, but it never stood a chance.

That was enough for now. Not being able to move properly was irritating and all those heal casts took a lot of out of her. She wasn't really feeling dizzy anymore, but she still wanted to go home and take a nice nap. She could come back here later and explore the rest later. Holly wasn't quite sure if her skills were up to par, but if anything that just made her more likely to come back. It was exciting, dangerous and if she kept fighting stronger things her skills would surly improve if she didn't get killed right? What were the chances one of these stupid things would actually kill her anyway? She had nothing to worry about.
