Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.

The mines didn't have much of interest to Jaelyn anymore, but she still managed to find a few things to sell on her trip back out. She was still not particularly happy about the whole thing. The trip had been a let down, and the only real benefit she got out of it was money. Which, admittedly, was certainly a benefit. But Jaelyn had gone in to burn shadows, and had been disappointed in that regard. So rather than being some great bonus on top of something already satisfying, it was instead just a silver lining to an otherwise disappointing trip.

Just why did the crazy lady keep accepting all this crap, anyway? Did she have some use for it? Was it just an excuse to indirectly assist Persona users? And if so, why? Why did the crazy lady care? She clearly wasn't a normal person, so what stake did she have in the city or the shadow attack? And how the flying hell did a junk shop factor into it?
Well, whatever the case, it was helping. Thanks to crazy lady and her junk shop, Jaelyn was able to properly provide for herself now, with or without Sakuya's help. So here she was again, with another batch of junk to be sold off for more money.

More crap. Just more crap to sell and get money for. What would she use it for this time? Food? Booze? Getting a decent freaking microwave? Who knew? Jaelyn would decide that when the time came. For now, she didn't particularly care about any of that. This was a routine. A profitable routine, which was the only reason she kept doing it, but a routine nonetheless. Meanwhile that crazy lady gave her that same uncanny smile as every other time she came in, as though nothing was ever wrong. Jaelyn was in a good mood? Smile. Bad mood? Smile. About to lose it? The same damn smile. It was almost like she didn't even notice the people who came through. Just the crap they brought.

Jaelyn had been especially productive this week. She'd gotten two full bags of crap to cash in instead of one. Why? Because it kept her mind off of other things. In the wake of the last battle, the less she let herself get lost in her own thoughts, the better. Her mind ended up in pretty nasty places, lately. That was to be expected, after what all had happened. She kept telling herself that there was nothing she could do about it, but in reality, she had no idea. That was part of what scared her. At night, the nightmares were as bad as ever, but during the day she at least had the benefit of keeping busy in the meantime.

Another week, more crap, more money. That was just how it went. Jaelyn was used to that by now. She didn't care about going all around the outer circle looking for things anymore. It was fine. It kept her mind from wandering too much when she was busy looking for things. It also kept her from dozing off, which was good with how little sleep she'd had lately. More sleeping meant more damned nightmares to deal with. It was better to be awake. And what better way to keep awake than to keep busy? The only downside was that she still felt much more worn out than usual.

The full moon was getting closer and closer. Jaelyn had been once again dreading the day all month, but now she had to actually decide what she was going to do. And what better way to do that then to think over it while looking for junk to salvage. She'd gotten stronger, yet again, and was feeling a little bit better. But only barely. Emotionally, she was still a wreck. Physically, she was a mess from not eating or sleeping much. And she was still worried that another big battle like the usual ones would bring out the worst in her. Especially in her current state.
...No. By the time she got back to the Gap with what she'd found, she was pretty sure that she wouldn't be going this time.

Jaelyn had to admit, she did feel better now. She wasn't exactly in perfect condition, but then, when was she ever? She'd always have her past looming over her, as well as the fear of being killed and replaced by her shadow. But at least now she wasn't also trying to avoid the one person who could provide her with genuine comfort.
For everything else, just doing a bit of work to distract her was good enough to keep her going. So she went back to salvaging. Maybe this time, she'd blow some of the money she'd been gathering on something big. Or maybe she'd treat Sakuya for once, rather than the other way around. Who knew.
