Mosaic City, located along China's coast, is quite large city sometimes called the Crossroads Between Nations due to its diverse population. While it was once a large tourist spot, the city was placed under a blockade as the military appeared claiming there was a radiation leak. The true hazard, however, is much more sinister.
Today, Holly had no specific plans or anything super deep and meaningful to muse about. Today, she was just bored and wanted to blow off some steam, but if anyone asked she was definitely just making sure that her shadow slaying skills weren't getting rusty. That seemed reasonable enough right? Once again, she picked the mines because it was the only place she was sure was open that had shadows that were strong enough for her without completely overwhelming her.
They were just as they always were, dingy, dim, tight, run-down and dirty, even moreso than other parts of the destroyed city. Well, at least no one else needed to collapse the front preventing anyone from going in at all. Once again, she slowly entered the place, not cautiously, just lazily. Holly didn't intend to avoid any fights, she was definitely looking for one or two at least.

Oh look, targets! It was about time. Holly made a mental note of their shapes, though the fact that they looked like mutant medieval torture devices didn't phase her in the slightest. Once again, she cast Tarukaja on herself and charged the enemies. While this strategy was of questionable effectiveness against certain enemies, it was the only thing that had a shot of making it so she didn't get completely murdered due to her terrible attack power. One of the wheels spun and made one of the metal needles coming out of it fly towards her, or rather where she was. The attack ended up flying right over her head and struck the ground making it glow pink for a moment. The other one did something very familiar, but by the time that it registered that this was going to happen again, she had a giant fist in her face. Once again, rather than allow herself to be blown back, she jammed one of her knives into the shadow and once again, it let out a scream. Well, it was more of a high-pitched whirring noise as the wheel began to spin faster, but it was the same idea really.
Holly was starting to feel some serious deja vu here. Would it work again? Even if she wasn't here to learn anything new, it's not like she could just ignore the opportunity if it decided to plop itself in front of her. She supposed this was take two for seeing how smart shadows were when it came to allies. This wheel was less squishy than the last shadow she fought, so rather than attempt to slide through metal, or at least a metal-like substance, she grabbed a knife with her off hand and used her two knives as hand holds, stabbing through the shadow and making her way to the back side of it. The whirring just got louder, it was starting to hurt her ears. The other shadow sent out another wave of the same attack it tried to use last time. It looked like the arrow was going to soar right over the allied shadow and right to her. She wondered if the shadow understood that its attack would miss under ordinary circumstances, or if it didn't care that its ally was between it and its target. It was hard to tell in this case. Rather than let herself be impaled, she leaned over and jammed her knives into the bottom of the wheel and hoisted it up so it would take the hit for her.
Holly did not expect what happened next. The shadow flashed pink for a moment and started spinning more sluggishly. She braced herself for an attack, but it never came. Instead, the shadow started attacking the other shadow? She blinked. What just happened? Regardless, one shadow was beating up its ally, and the other was having difficulty hitting her because of her new meatshield. All she really had to do was position herself correctly and the battle practically fought itself. The wheel she stabbed a couple of times went down first, but by then the other wheel was pretty injured. It didn't take too long for her to finish it off.

When the shadow poofed, Holly stretched. Not a bad work out really, they didn't even hurt her that much. She was starting to get the hang of this taking on shadows with her shitty attack power thing. She was feeling better already. It was amazing how a little murder could make anyone feel better. Her body was still in good condition, and she wasn't tired yet, so rather than leave like a sensible person she opted to explore a little longer. There wasn't much more for her to explore in this area given how many times she'd come through here, but hey, maybe there was a new tunnel or something.
