Anna hummed to herself as she wandered through the ruins of what had been half of the city. It was a dreary place, all run down and covered in an ominous fog that reminded her way too much of home. But with the right tune, she was still able to keep her spirits up. Every now and then she'd sing a line or two, but then go back to humming. Not like anyone was around to hear an incomplete song.
In a move that was no doubt caused by a number of veterans arriving a couple months ago, most of the available housing in the city had already been claimed. So until she could find and acquire proper accommodations, Anna had checked into a hotel. Special Circumstances would pay for her to stay there as long as she needed, and just a couple hours in the room had convinced her that drawing that out a bit wouldn't be too bad a prospect. But after that, she was already itching to get started, so she reported in with the local base of communications, got directions to get out into the shadow-infested ruins, and went out there.
But, unfortunately, the open streets and smaller buildings of the city weren't all that infested after all. If it was anything like the other large-scale incidents she had encountered, shadows would gravitate to certain areas, but Anna could only guess at what those areas would be. She'd seen very little of the city up to this point, after all. So until she decided where to go and look, she was just wandering around, with what looked like a closed umbrella resting on her shoulder. And humming.
Maybe the song was a little too close to home. But Georgia itself, she had no problem with. Just one particular speck of it.
